Does Defanged Horror have to be aimed at children?

Based on the description and the examples, it seems like this is meant to be about horror stories aimed at a child audience, finding ways to be scary despite the inability to show anything gruesome.

But what about works not aimed at children (at least not principally) but that still tell horror stories devoid of typically objectionable content like violence? Like, I can think of quite a few Twilight Zone episodes that'd fit that mark, but no one ever calls it a children's series.

Twilight Zone and the like is more likely to be an example of something like Surreal Horror.
