@ Crobat Of The Stars: Merry Christmas, and welcome to the game. The extra additions are fine. The backstory is a little grim, as the RP is supposed to be relatively light-hearted, but hopefully an adventure through the Tuloh region with some new friends will cheer them up a little bit.

Your Pokemon seems to be in order, though I would like you to flesh out your Pokemon's personality a little more than "Sassy." I use Pokemon natures as a guideline for wild-caught Pokemon, mostly. As for Riyu's ability, I rolled for it and he has the Soundproof ability. This means Riyu can expertly tune out particularly loud or striking noises. In game terms, Riyu is completely immune to all sound-based moves. Go ahead and add that to your signup.

Ofc! Admiteddly I did give Vin a bit of a grim backstory since I’m moreso used to that kind of writing, but things will be much more light hearted for him, don’t worry! I’ll go ahead and add the nature and Ability for Riyu! ^^

Excellent. I just took a look at it, and it seems to be in order. Vin and Riyu the Jangmo-o are Accepted! Feel free to post for Vin arriving in Aleph Town whenever you wish. I'll get you the invitation for the Discord server momentarily, that's where the vast majority of discussion will take place.

A few months have passed since the release of the epilogue of Scarlet and Violet's DLC. As such, I am allowing the one new valid Pokemon released in the DLC (Poltchageist) as a selectable starter. The rest are either evolved forms (Hydrapple, Archaludon), Paradox Pokemon (Raging Bolt, Gouging Fire, Iron Crown, Iron Boulder), or legendary Pokemon (Terapagos, Pecharunt).

In addition, since the DLC proves Hisuian Pokemon are not extinct in the modern day, Hisuian starters will be considered on a case by case basis.

You actually don't need Discord to play this. It's recommended, as 99% of the discussion happens there, but there are a few players in this game that don't use it.

Alrighty then, here goes

Name: Salvatore “Sal” Martinez

Age: 15

Appearance: Sal is about “5”7”, with brown skin, black hair, and greyish eyes. He usually wears a green climbing jacket with whatever shirt he feels like wearing. He usually wears cargo pants or shorts, depending on the weather.

Personality: Sal’s personality… fluctuates. When he’s with friends, he’s loud and vulgar. With strangers, he’s quiet and polite. With family, he’s kind, energetic, and somewhat childish. All of them are aspects of his actual personality, but what he’s like with family is his truest self. He enjoys being alone, but appreciates people who share his interests.

Items: He has the necessities, such as three ropes, a medkit with numerous potions, his phone, a water bottle, a tent and sleeping bag, numerous snacks, money, a flashlight, 5 pokeballs, and a picture of him and his grandparents. And one revive.

History: Sal had, in his opinion, a very average childhood. His parents cared for him and provided, they had more than enough, and his relationship with his parents and siblings is quite healthy. His most notable hobby, however, was learning about Pokémon. Their biology and appearance fascinated him, and he spent a lot of his childhood reading about them. He would even borrow his parents’ Pokemon and have fights with his friends and neighbors. Imagine his surprise when, for his 12th birthday, his parents got him a book on the Pokemon league, which he read day and night. This gift was what slowly got him into Pokemon competitions, and after years of training with friends, was inspired to become a Pokemon master.

Starter Pokemon:

• Species: Rockruff

• Gender: Male

• Name: José

• Ability: Keen Eye

• Moves: Stomping Tantrum, Sand Attack, Bite, Leer.

• Personality: José is quite the energetic Pokemon, and loves running around and smelling things. While Sal loves running around with him, sometimes it gets on his nerves. It is clear that they love each other.

Other: Sal’s parents and older brother moved from Paldea before he was born. He also has autism and ADHD, and generally likes all Pokemon.

All right, a couple things to go over.

First of all, starters in this game are obtained through Prof. Hawthorn rather than being ones that come from elsewhere. Please edit your signup to reflect this, as you will be getting your starter in the first few posts of this RP.

Secondly, abilities are generated by me via a random roll. As it stands, I rolled and ended up with the Keen Eye ability regardless, so it's no harm done and no need to edit, but keep that in mind.

Thirdly, Rockruff's moveset is based on that of its moves from Sun and Moon as of level 10, plus one egg move. As it stands, Stomping Tantrum is not a valid egg move: its moves should consist of Tackle, Leer, Sand Attack, Bite, and a valid egg move. You seem to have confused Rockruff's tutor moves with its egg moves. I listed Tutor Moves as an allowed exception if the Pokemon in question did not have any valid egg move choices, and I did allow another trainer with a Rockruff to have Snore as a valid option, so I suppose Stomping Tantrum is all right.

Scary Face, however, is learned by Rockruff at lv. 37 or 40, not at lv. 10 or below.

Why did you remove the Pokemon section? You still keep the Pokemon in the signup, you just gain it within the RP itself.

Also there's no need to list that he'll learn Scary Face at lv. 38, he'll also learn a lot more before that point.

A bit of a (small) concern. What would happen if someone signs up with, like, Staryu or Chinchou, where one of the Ability options (Illuminate) is functionally useless? Tho, I can see it having rp potential, though...

Excellent question. The ability will absolutely have RP potential, yes. Even "non-useless" abilities have RP potential. One of the players in my game has a Rockruff with Keen Eye, which gives it superb vision in addition to having the usual "ingame" benefits of resisting Accuracy loss.

• Name: Oleander “Ollie” Loto.
• Age: 15 years old.
• Appearance:
  • A slightly tall, boyish, dark-skinned kid with a gangly build. Their hair is short and purple, while her eyes are a warm, golden color.◊
• Personality:
  • Ollie, at a surface-level glance, seems emotionless, and that’s something that’s especially signified by the deadpan tone of speech she uses in almost all contexts. She’s got a “go with the flow” attitude, giving the impression that even the most bizarre of events won’t faze them at all.
  • Due to their Aether Foundation-adjacent background, she’s more knowledgeable about Pokémon and the world around her than most newbie trainers. Even so, they can still express surprise, wonder and curiosity when witnessing something new. She can be pretty approachable, even though she can be quite snarky sometimes.
  • Ollie treats her Pokémon companions like family, and gets truly scorned when people exploit Pokémon for their own interests.
• Items:
  • A sizeable backpack.
  • A few Poké Balls, Fresh Waters, Potions, Oran Berries and Lum Berries.
  • A Camping set, with all the stuff that comes with it.
  • A smartphone.
  • A notebook.
  • All the equipment needed for cooking.

  • Some protective gloves and suits for Pokémon that aren’t the safest for a human to touch.
• History:
  • Ollie was born in Malie City, in Alola, to a Hoennian father and an Alolan mother. They both worked for the Aether Foundation as researchers and, when they could, took their child to the Aether Paradise, where she got to meet (and sometimes even play with) Pokémon that were previously mistreated by humans, revealing to them that not all Human-Pokémon relationships were all fun and games. And because of that, Oleander began believing in the importance of relationships between humans and Pokémon.
  • Ollie would be homeschooled by her parents until she was 15 years old. At that point, she managed to watch Hawthorn’s ad and, with her parents’ consent, set out for the Tuloh Region, hoping to have a fun and meaningful adventure.

  • Personality: Oobleck is, most of the time, a laid-back goofball who is very affectionate. He likes relaxing and eating all kinds of different foods: from delicious Poké Puffs…to rotten garbage. But a hidden (and metaphorical) flame within him begins burning with passion and determination whenever he wants to prove himself as a worthy battler.
• Other: Oleander uses they/them and she/her pronouns.

I took the liberty of rolling for Oobleck's ability, and it has the ability Gluttony. This means that Oobleck has an insatiable appetite and fondness for food, and so is more inclined to eat its edible held items sooner rather than later. In game terms, it will eat berries that it normally eats in a pinch at a higher HP-related threshold. Go ahead and edit that into your signup.
