Name: Aeryn Aurice

Age: 15

Appearance: Aeryn is 5'8'', dark skinned, and has a small but anime-esque bit of sky blue hair. They wear a denim blue sport jacket with a cape on it, along with a shirt embroidered with a Great Ball. They wear dark blue jean shorts as well, along with neon blue velcro shoes.

Personality: Aeryn is cheery and excitable, and quick to try and make friends. Being curious about almost anything, they find themselves in trouble often, Usually resulting in their Rowlet, Gaia having to get them out of said trouble.

Items: A bunch of hand-me-down camping stuff (tent, lamp, water bottle, sleeping bag, ect.), a phone, some Poke Balls, Potions, and a few Full Heals.

History: When Aeryn was younger, they watched a certain trainer face off against and defeat the Champion of Galar, Leon. Being amazed and inspired by the ferocity and skill of the battle, Aeryn planned to start their own journey. Wanting to find new experiences and mostly get out of the same old Galar, they set their sights on the Tuloh region.

Ability:

Overgrowth: When Gaia is in danger, her elemental power of nature is boosted, making Grass Type Moves (Leafage, Grass Pledge, ect.) deal more damage.

Moves:

Tackle (Lvl. 1, Normal Physical Attack) Gaia rams into the opponent, dealing moderate damage.

Growl (Lvl. 1, Normal Status Move) Gaia yells at the opponent, scaring them into using weaker attacks.

Leafage (Lvl. 3, Grass Physical Attack) Gaia charge nature energy in her wings, and releases it in multiple orbs of energy, dealing boosted damage to the opponent.

Double Team (Egg Move, Normal Status Move) Gaia moves at speeds so fast, it's like there are multiple of her, throwing of the opponent's accuracy in attacking.

Personality: A Pokemon with a Careful personality, Leif is somewhat of a foil to Aeryn's carefree personality. As much as Aeryn's antics give her a headache, she does still see him as a skilled trainer. Mostly.

Other: They were going to get a Grookey since it reminded them of Galar, but remembered how much they like birds, and changed their mind.

- Dawn Of Eclipse: This seems like it's in order. A few things to note, I will say, before I accept it.

• While this RP mostly maintains the game canon, there isn't a "canonical" version of the Sword and Shield games, and so the 'certain trainer' (who I'm certain is supposed to be a standin for the Sword/Shield player character in your signup) would have to be kept particularly vague. The events of Sword/Shield did happen, though the details would have to stay un-fleshed out.
• Your signup seems to imply that you're sticking to estabished Starter Pokemon. While this is perfectly valid, be aware that you can choose any Pokemon as long as it conforms to the restrictions stated in the signup. Also, trainers don't exactly choose their starters, they're given them by Prof. Hawthorn after his Lucario reads their aura. I didn't establish that in the signup, sorry. I should amend that.
• No, most Pokemon in this setting do not talk, it's established to be like in the anime where Pokemon make animalistic noises or snippets of their names.

• Name: Lance Jamison
• Age: 16
• Appearance: A little bit on the tall, lanky side for his age, 6'1 and 190 lbs. of slight muscle with disheveled brown hair, brown eyes and a bit of a tan for being outside most of his life. His clothing consists of a blue denim jacket with a black V-neck shirt, blue jeans and black work boots.
• Personality: Lance is a very eccentric fellow. Being around sailors and fishermen most of your life will make you that way. He's someone who lives in his own world. He might even be a bit behind on some things socially for someone his age. And as such, might be off-putting for some. But if you can handle his odd quirks, Lance is actually a kind individual, a friend who you can count on. And he has a soft spot for animals and is quite good with them.
• Items: Lance carries a backpack in which he keeps a sleeping bag inside, alongside a skillet and some matches for cooking some meals. He also keeps some rations with him. He also has a fishing rod so whenever he goes into some areas with water, he can fish for food. He even has a knife that he uses to prepare food with. And as such, will have a tackle box he takes with him. While not exactly wealthy, he does have a few bucks on him.
• History: Lance was originally born in Cinnabar Island. He was abandoned by his birth parents and as such, don't know who they are or where they are. He would be adopted by a fisherman named Bruce Jamison. From an early age, Lance spent the majority of his life at sea. He learned to work hard, helping out his adoptive father with his work and also was put into dangerous situations at times, per the course of the work. But still, Lance was in good hands as his father and his crew were all like his family. All of them eccentric types, but very caring. As Lance got older however, he started to grow bored with his life at sea and was looking for something more adventurous. Wanted to explore the lands, go on his own adventures. While Bruce was reluctant to let him go at first as he wanted his son to go into the family business of being the fisherman, Bruce would respect his wishes and see him off into Tuloh. All Bruce asked of Lance is to make something of himself. To make him proud. And Lance, while he still needs to figure out how to take his path, intends to keep his father's promise.

Crunchyroll's ability is Shell Armor, protecting him from vital blows. In game terms, Crunchyroll is immune to critical hits, and such attacks are treated as regular attacks.

• Name: Hyde Sagasu

• Age: 16

• Appearance: 5'5"; pale-skinned and kind of gangly; slight shadows under his eyes from a habit of staying up late; hair is dark purple, curly and usually hanging down over his eyes; eyes are also purple, with a curious spiral pattern. Tends to wear a mishmash of hand-me-down clothes; worn out boots, faded jeans, simple t-shirts, usually with some band or other's name on it; an oversized coat reaching down just past his knees. The coat is black on the outside with a black and purple spider web pattern on the seldom-seen interior and it has entirely too many pockets.

• Personality: Usually he's a fairly laid-back person but can become quite passionate about certain topics. Namely, his desire to prove the existence of strange, rare pokemon that may or may not actually exist. Hyde is a very curious individual and somewhat lacking in caution when it comes to mysteries. If something goes bump in the night, he's the first one to go looking, flashlight in hand. Has a love of supernatural and generally spooky things, ghost-type pokemon most of all.

• Items: His travel supplies are carried around in an oversized backpack. These include a collapsible tent, some basic tools, a canteen for fresh water, lengths of rope, a plasma lighter for starting campfires and a pot for cooking over one. In the many pockets of his coat Hyde carries a bunch of occult paraphernalia of various degrees of usefulness including: a low-quality quartz crystal on a jewelry chain, an evil-warding candle (better suited as a light source), and purifying salts (actually fast food condiment packets, better suited to seasoning campfire stews). There's also a Pokegear in there, somewhere. Perhaps his most prized possession is a square leather pouch containing a cloth-wrapped deck of pokemon-themed tarot cards.

• History: Hyde grew up in Ecruteak City in the Johto region. The youngest of three brothers, Hyde watched as his siblings became respected pokemon trainers. He however, just wasn't sure what he wanted to do. For his most recent birthday, his mother gave him a deck of tarot cards she'd made herself. Taking after his mother in both appearance and predilection for the mystical, Hyde set about trying to divine the course his future should take. It was either fate or pure coincidence that Prof. Hawthorn's ad came on as he was trying to figure out what his drawn cards meant. Taking it as a sign, he journeys to the Tuloh region.

  • Species: Misdreavus

  • Gender: Female

  • Nickname: Zullie

  • Ability: Levitate. Zullie naturally floats in midair in total defiance of gravity. Ground-type attacks and entry hazards mean nothing to her.

  • Moves:
    • Psywave: (Level 1, Psychic Special) Zullie casts a wave of strange, psychic energy. The intensity of this wave is unreliable and could be strong or weak at random.

    • Spite: (Level 5, Ghost Status) A ghostly grudge is cast on the foe, reducing their will to use whatever move they used last. (reduces the move's pp)

    • Astonish: (Level 10, Ghost Physical) Zullie flies at the enemy for what is essentially a tackle. All the while she shrieks like a banshee in an attempt to scare her opponent into flinching.

    • Destiny Bond: (egg move, Ghost Status) After this spell is cast Zullie's body will briefly contain a powerful curse. If she is knocked out while this is in effect the curse will leap from her and instantly cause the attacker to faint as well.

  • Personality: Lonely nature. Zullie's instinct to scare others and feed on their fear lead to her being shunned by the other pokemon at Hawthorn's lab who reasonably, weren't amused by her antics. Convincing herself she doesn't need others, people or pokemon, she's become somewhat withdrawn and sullen. Part of her still wants friends but she's slow to trust and open up. Initially doesn't know what to think of Hyde, who doesn't seem put off by her attempt to scare him away. Deep down, Zullie hopes that this human might just be the first person to genuinely like her.

• Appearance: He's a chubby boy with a cute face with green unkempt hair and blue eyes and slightly brown skin, he wears a blue button shirt and some black pants, and a couple of square glasses.

• Personality: Mars is a pretty shy and introverted boy who desires to make friends but finds it difficult to talk to other people, on the other hand, he loves pokemon and he feels pretty happy and secure with he’s around them, he desires to be a champion alongside his very first starter pokemon but he Will have to overcome his shyness before he can be an effective trainer.

• Items: healing potions, antidotes for status effects, escape ropes, and repels in case he gets in Deep trouble.

• History: He was born from a single mother since his father left them when she was pregnant with him, fortunately, she at least had a job well paid enough to maintain both of them but it required her to take a lot of extra hours to support them which ended up resulting on her mother's main pokemon, a naturally maternal and kind Chansey to take care of him personally most of the time while he was growing up, she was like a beloved nanny.

Mars has always been an easy target for bullies since he was a Little boy because he was pretty shy and reclusive which made the others think he was a weirdo and become a target for bullies during his entire childhood, which made him insecure to interact with people which made him even more introverted and reclusive.

These experiences with the main caretaker in his life being a pokemon and most humans being either abusive or absent made him develop a huge love for pokemon and an inherent mistrust of people, but he knew that if he wanted to make it in this world he had to learn how to get along with people and so he took the decision during his twelfth birthday to go with the local pokemon professor and adopt his own starter pokemon and start his journey to become a real pokemon trainer so he can both be a strong person that will never get disrespected by others in a way in which he can feel supported by the creatures he loves so much.

o Personality: She’s a calm and relaxed pokemon that’s always happy to take care of those who are hurt or in trouble, she’s extremely patient and wants to help her trainer become more confident, she sees their pokemon journey as a therapy session to help him overcome his crippling shyness.

First off, you receive your starter Pokemon from Prof. Hawthorn, it's not a Pokemon you are familiar with prior to the beginning of this RP. Secondly, you should choose an Egg Move from Gen 7 to replace one of your level-up moves.

Finally, the formatting of this post is just all over the place. The bullet points need fixing for one. The History section is one giant run-on sentence, please make it more coherent, as well as make the requisite changes in order to make it line up with the fact that Mars doesn't start with Cuddles the Happiny.

Speaking of Cuddles, I took the liberty of rolling her ability. You got very lucky, and managed to roll Happiny's hidden ability of Friend Guard. This ability reduces the damage that attacks do to Cuddles' allies.

Due to having sufficient time passed between the release of Scarlet and Violet and now, I am now officially lifting the restriction on Pokemon from Generation 9 as starters. In addition, Pokemon from the Paldea region will now be encounterable in the wild in Tuloh.

Personality: Jules is unfailingly nice towards Pokemon, and tolerates people, just seeing them as... people. Nothing important. He can also be too calm about threatening violence on people he dislikes, and can carry such things out with serenity. Generally, he's nice but scary in the way he regards normally frightening things with startling interest. He's also not that good at reading social cues.

Items: Jules usually carries standard fare. Pokeballs, Potions, the cheap stuff, along with gear such as sleeping bags, tents, and the like. He usually keeps a notebook full of Pokemon info while he doesn't have a Pokedex.

History: When Jules accidentally stumbled upon a Moltres, he was struck by its beauty. Its dancing flames, its lithe body. He found it as a gift of Arceus. Then it ran away. @ Jules-Firenze: Jeez... Your character's backstory is pretty flipping grim for a game like this. Your character's parents were killed by a Pokemon?? I will say that your backstory is too dark; please tone it down and I will consider your character.

I took the liberty of rolling for Ako's ability and she has the Flash Fire ability. This makes Ako immune to Fire-type moves, and her own Fire-type moves strengthen in power when she's hit by one.

• Appearance: He is a red-haired, green-eyed youth, standing at 4'2" tall with a reasonably solid build. Outside of these qualities, he has an appearance that can generously be described as "non-descript".
• Personality: He is very eager to please people, to the point where he parrots back the opinions of whoever he talks to one-on-one. In group conversations, he smiles, nods, and tries not to get involved in arguments with others. At times, even he does not know if there is anything behind his pleasant, reflective social mask.
• Items: He wears a rucksack organized and packed by his parents. To be frank, he's overpacked. Hiking boots, rain ponchos, collapsible tents, cookware, tinned food, and a thermos are among the dizzying array of items packed into the rucksack. It's a wonder that he doesn't collapse under the weight.
• History: Phillip lived a quiet life with his parents in Konikoni City, concerned with little besides his education and social life. That changed one fateful day, when the whole family saw Professor Hawthorn's infomercial. Phillip was cautiously curious about what this Tuloh region might hold, but his parents were so excited that they quickly started making plans to send him there. This was one of the few occasions where his parents agreed on something, so Phillip didn't have the heart to raise an objection. Now, he is off on a journey that may just lead him to discovering his true nature.

@ Another Man : Everything seems to be in order. I considered putting Ditto in my list of specific exceptions but I decided against it. As it stands, Ditto is very simple to work with. All I had to do was roll for Ditto's ability. Pudding has the Limber ability, which means its body is flexible enough that it's able to shrug off paralysis. It's completely immune to being paralyzed. Just go ahead and edit its ability into your signup.

As it stands, Phillip Maxwell and Pudding the Ditto are Accepted! Go ahead and post with Phillip arriving in Aleph Town whenever you're ready.

• Name: Aaron Howard
• Age: 18
• Appearance: Tall, black hair, pale skin, black eyes, dark clothes — basically Kiritsugu or Hei. The effect is somewhat spoiled by his clothes being neglected and fraying and his unimpressive, wispy beard.
• Personality: Uncouth but friendly. Aaron knows very well how Old Money people are supposed to conduct themselves and purposefully fails to behave in such a manner. He's friendly, but better with books and Flying-type Pokemon than he is with people, which, combined with his directness, caused him issues in the past. He also can't catch a hint, ever.
• Items: Thanks to being Old Money, Aaron's got the latest and greatest equipment for such a trip — the latest-generation Pokegear, tents built to withstand inclement weather, a stash of Premier Balls, you name it. Most of it is shiny-new, and some of it (like the tent) Aaron doesn't even know how to use.
• History: Aaron comes from an Old Money family in Johto. He's shown an interest in Flying-type Pokemon since a young age but failed to do anything said interest. This caused progressively worse arguments with his father — worsened by him having an F in interpersonal relations and his father being an ambitious person and expecting his children to be the same. Things would've ended badly, in all likelihood, if not for Aaron's older sister Miriam. She made a bet with him — they'll both enter the Omegana Championship, and if he beats her she'll arrange things so their father will leave him be. With him trusting her to fulfill her promise — she's never broken her word to him before — he set out to Aleph Town with the blessing of his father.

  • Species: Murkrow
  • Gender: Male
  • Nickname: Glass
  • Ability: Prankster

@ Desdendelle : Things have been all right. Anyway, your character seems in order.

You seem to have gotten very lucky: I rolled for the ability, and your Murkrow Glass has the species' hidden ability Prankster. This means that Glass is quicker to act when it comes to moves involving his or his opponent's status. In game terms, status moves have priority. How fitting given the personality you gave it.

The funny thing is, one of our players recently captured a wild Murkrow. It'll be interesting if the two characters cross paths. It's also interesting the backstory that you put in regarding your character's sister Miriam.

May I join? Apologies in advance if I've missed anything: it's been many years since my last RP experience.

• Name: Adela Moss
• Age: 14
• Appearance: A fair-skinned youth with a lithe build. Above average height for her age (159.8cm) but she wishes she was taller still. Her wisteria hair is tied back in a neat, shoulder blade-length ponytail, with blunt bangs and a few loose strands at the side. She has upturned, strong brown eyes. In terms of clothes, her go-to outfit is a white undershirt, a purple jacket with yellow trim, (usually worn open), black stretch jeans and a comfy pair of white and indigo running shoes.
• Personality: Adela doesn't talk much but tries to make up for it by being a good listener. She tends to keep her feelings to herself and can come across as aloof, making her difficult to get to know. In her opinion, it's always best to look before you leap. Deep down, however, she's a driven and honest-hearted (albeit blunt) girl who loves nothing more than to improve her skills. This naturally means she is drawn to the idea of training Pokemon. There's so much to discover and understand about them, and no two battles are the same! Adela gets bored after a long time of not learning anything new, so the intricacies and possibilities of Pokemon battles should keep her happy for a long time to come.
• Items: A small set of Pokeballs here, a couple of Potions there, plus a well-wrapped piece of Old Gateau. Oh, and a Repel... but only as a last resort. Adela carries camping equipment like a single-occupant tent (with a purple and black-striped design), an inflatable mattress, a sleeping bag and basic cooking equipment. Winter clothes are a must where she's from, so of course she'll pack some of those! She also wears a pink second-generation Poketch - a going-away present from her parents.
• History: Born and raised in Floaroma Town, Sinnoh, but half-Galarian on her father's side. Adela has a sister 6 years her senior who left home at 14 to travel the world as a Pokemon Coordinator. She keeps up with her big sister's career, of course, but Contests don't appeal to her so much. Instead, her idea of a Pokemon journey is rising to the challenges of the Gyms and, just maybe, taking her place in the Hall of Fame. When she herself turned 14, she felt that the time was right to take that first step; she announced her plan to tackle Tuloh's Gym Competitions. Seeing a certain commercial on TV was the moment everything clicked.

His calm nature and genuine compassion make him a model valet. That said, he has a hard time being assertive and knowing when to rest; he's also the gullible type, prone to overestimating the sincerity of others. Apparently, he's quite a finicky eater...

  • Gender: Male
  • Nickname: Spike
  • Ability: Thick Fat - Spike is protected by a layer of thick fat. Thanks to this, he doesn't take as much damage from Fire- or Ice-type moves as he normally would.

He’ll never admit it, but he’s got quite the sweet tooth...!
