Note: This thread was proposed by magnumtropus, who gave others permission to make the thread.

As discussed in this thread, Flagship Franchise seems to be suffering from a lot of problems:

  1. On the main trope page, many of the shows aren't even franchises, but rather "Shows which so-and-so studio/network/channel is best known for".
  2. There are also many ZCE's. Examples simply state that "xyz" show is this for "abc" company, without elaborating on specifics, such as "How long has it been a Flagship?", "What works in other mediums has it inspired?", and "How many installments does it have?"
  3. While not brought up in the thread, there may some overlap between this trope and Cash-Cow Franchise. The "Flagship" part of the trope means "most well known", but "Franchise" already implies that the Flagship is a Cash Cow to a certain extent.

Proposal: Flagship Franchise should be merged with Cash-Cow Franchise, and a new trope (preferably called Signature Series) should be created to refer to "The most well known series associated with a channel/producer". Guidelines should also be set in place to discourage ZCE's.

Paging magnumtropus since they proposed the thread, and I forgot to send the ping in the opening post.

The wick check appears not to be done. Should we keep this open and complete the wick check, or wait until it's finished and close?

I'd prefer to clock/lock this until the wick check is done, before giving an opinion.

Yeah, you're correct. I'll close it, revert the Queue page, and look at what's below it.
