I'm pretty sure Karai wasn't in the original series, so now we're getting popular characters from other series, remade into the '80s style.

Very late response, but I was asking myself "wait, Karai never showed up in the 80s cartoon, did she?" Very cool that they're not limiting their roster to people who just appeared in the 80s cartoon. grin

Incidentally, I just realized one of Raph's alternate colors is that black suit he wore for a time in the Archie comics. So that's cool.

[up]Yes. And it was actually well after the 1987 series became a big hit. In fact, a similar character, Lotus Blossom, had appeared on the show before Karai's comic debut in 1992. It's debatable whether Lotus inspired Karai or not, since Peter Laird apparently never watched the show while Kevin Eastman did.

I also heard that Lotus Blossom predates Karai.

I was gonna bring that up myself but [up] beat me to it.

Huh. Since she's appearing in the Dimension Shellshock expansion alongside Usage, is it possible that this isn't 2K3 Karai transplanted to the 87 world, but the actual 2K3 Karai?

Like....she has met the 2K3 turtles once already and all.

If Karai is fair play, I wonder if we'll see others like the Fugitoid as future DLC characters.

[up] I would say TMNT: Smash-Up (aka the TMNT Smash Bros clone) begs to differ, but I guess we don't talk about that one?

Actually, what even happened with that game, anyway? I remember being ecstatic for that one, but looking back, it just feels lackluster.

Like, no Usagi? Or Bebop and Rocksteady? Or Hun? Surely they could've made those guys work in the 2007 movie flair the game was borrowing. (Though Utrominator was really cool.)

But yeah, a fair point is a fair point.

The base game is fun enough, it's just the roster that holds it back. I personally blame Ubisoft and them forcing the Rabbids into the game.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem game announced for consoles, PC.

Outright Games has announced a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game set in the world of the recently released animated feature film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. It will launch for unspecified consoles and PC in 2024.

Taking place months after the events of the movie, the game will feature unique visuals inspired by the film's bold, painterly art style. Combining energetic ninja teamwork gameplay with a humorous narrative, players will take control of the Turtles as they interact with a host of memorable characters from the franchise and fight to save this stylized take on New York City from a new mutant threat.

Looking at the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters page, where did the idea come from that Hothead was a Canon Foreigner originate?

His action figure came out two years before the NES version of tournament fighters and All There in the Manual says he is the same character as the character from Adventures.

Grossly outdated by now, but Tribute Games actually revealed all the characters' palette swaps back in September!

Not only do the turtles and Splinter have palettes inspired by their Mirage, 2003, 2012, and Rise variants, but Usagi actually has a palette based on his sprites from a solo game he had for the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC in 1988! They even confirmed this to me themselves!

Talk about doing your deep-cut homework, am I right? surprised

I wish there was a TMNT-game based on Rise, or at least a DLC for Shredder's Revenge. I see a lot of potential in fun gameplay based on the Turtles' high-flying and frenetic mystic martial arts in that show.

Speaking of games based on other TMNT variants, you guys remember the arcade game featuring the 2012 variants?

It's back! In consoles! With new levels and bosses!

I still have yet to get Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge, I have been jamming to the soundtracks for both the base and DLC games on Apple Music though. (One of my favorite tracks is "Ninja Sasanja")

[up][up][up] Yeah, the lack of a Rise game is true wasted potential.

[up][up] That's cool, especially the addition of new content. I hope they bring in that Batman Batmobile arcade game too.

[up]I imagine a hypothetical Rise-game to be similar in play-style to God of War, though obviously without bloodshed.

Bad news regarding The Cowabunga Collection:

Steam will discontinue the game in Japan on March 29, 2024. Online play will remain available after the end of sales. Also, purchased copies of the full game will be available for re-download from the Steam Store. No word about other countries, but...

Good news! The Cowabunga Collection is 50% off until March 21, 2024 on Steam! So instead of $39.99, it's $19.99! So that's like spending $1.53 for each of the 13 games! surprised

Also, Shredder's Revenge is 33% off (or $16.74) on Steam until March 21! The Dimension Shellshock DLC is 20% off (or $6.39) and the bundle featuring the game, DLC and OST is 28% off (or $35.21)!

Has anybody played the arcade version of Wrath of the Mutants? Is it 2D or 3D? The trailer showing the turtles running in a 2x2 formation implies 3D. Is it recommendable, I'm not normally fond of beat em' ups and monotonously attacking wave after wave of enemies, but it does look cool.
