The Guardians of Justice

I'd like to bring everyone's attention to this show that popped on Netflix recently called The Guardians of Justice. It's a dark superhero show produced by Adi Shankar that has plenty of Expies of the DCU. Diamond Dallas Page is the main actor for the show as this world's Batman copy investigating the suicide, if not murder, of Marvelous Man. Yes, that world's Superman.

It's very much full of comic book references so you know the Shout-Out page is gonna get filled up.

So far I'm on episode 3 on the first half. I like how this show version of Spider-Man have a cartoon spider with him. The cartoon effect on the spider looks good.

I watched this show. It's very...unconventional in a lot of ways...

I normally hate these kinds of shows, with the anti-superhero Beware the Superman aesthetic that's endemic in superhero genre works but Go J was pretty intriguing enough for me to keep watching.

Also, I love the fact that Knighthawk just has a Joker expy locked in a tube in his base 24/7. It's so stupid, I love it.

I didn't care for the ending though. Props to Speed for being the only true hero among them. I was holding out 'til the end that Knighthawk was being misrepresented and that he was totally on the up and up all along. Alas.

Okay, so I finished marathoning it and holy shit… that got bleak. Idk if it's a half season or a full season.

Adi Shankar as in the guy that directed Castlevania?

The very same producer and showrunner, yes. He's also best known for Dredd, Power/Rangers (Bootleg Universe), and the upcoming animated Ubisoft series: Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix.

I agree. I wasn't expecting that.

So you guys are enjoying it? I was assigned to work on posting some info for it pre-release elsewhere on the web, but haven't really actually watched much of it. The impression I got in general was that it was getting very little attention and that most people who have seen it don't really think much of the production values, other than the quality of the animation. But there's something worth watching here?

Honestly, if Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League (not the awful, pervy novel of that name that we got in its stead) ever got made properly, I'd imagine it would have a similar look and feel to this show.

Also enjoy the Phil Hart show segments. Is the character's name a shout out to Phil Hartman maybe?
