Also João as the best love interest? I've only seen 10 episodes and have already seen João stalk, act possessive and just genuinely be a prick to Mindy! Do you genuinely think he'd be a good father figure for all 30 of her children?

This is going to sound like a stupid question, but does anyone have an answer for why Chibi Debra edits were going around on April Fool's Day?

It think it was a tradition from the earlier days of the fandom, from a Bizarro Episode.

Oh, yeah, I remember that one! Back in the early days (I think it was around the time I first joined the fandom) someone made a fanmade ending sequence where the cast got turned into chibis. It was so well made that people passed it around as if it were legit.

New episode just dropped! It's called "You and Me Could Fight the Baggrumman" and boy, is it a doozy.

This episode largely focuses on Sandy's autism (shocked it took them this long to make one of these); his stims, his fascination with trains, his lack of eye contact (which Leif constantly gets on his case about), and the bond he forms with Najimi over their unique quirks.

We see Sandy do his morning walk around the Central Quarter Complex, and as soon as he enters the mess hall kitchen, he is greeted by an alien calling itself the Baggrumman. Apparently affiliated with the aliens the Quarters have been fighting this season, Baggrumman gives Sandy the spiel seen in the season 9 trailer about how autistic people are "the next step in human evolution" supposedly, and that he wants to use Sandy's autistic brain to further his own personal goals. This causes Sandy to burst into tears laughing — full on rolling on the floor laughter, bewildered by the thought of anyone believing in something that stupid!

You shouldn't have done that, buddy.

The Baggrumman, insulted by Sandy's mocking, attacks him, and the two get into a fight that leaks out into the main mess hall. The commotion alerts Najimi, who comes to Sandy's aid. The two of them manage to wear out the Baggrumman, forcing him to flee. After he leaves, Sandy and Najimi confide in each other, leading to the full version of another scene from the trailer:

All in all, a very sweet and heartfelt episode. It's like the writers are trying to prove that they've gotten better at writing neurodivergence, and they undeniably have!

Mate, use fucking spoilers. I know not that much shocking happens in this episode, but I'm still catching up and this seems like it would have been a really nice surprise. People like you really ruin the fandom.

Maybe you should — and this is just a suggestion — not check the thread until after you've watched through all the episodes? I mean, it shouldn't be that hard to binge through this season. Besides, this episode didn't really have anything spoiler-worthy in it.

That is, except for the stinger. After the Baggrumman's defeat, we see him talking to a guy whom we can only see the silhouette of. He mentions how, quote, "an autistic savant like you should have no trouble tracking down the Empress." And he refers to the silhouette as "Mr. Bedford." Guys, you don't think this is...

red herrings happen a lot. it could be they are aiming towards Either Kaon Or Mii. or a totally new character

Kaon and Mii, while they are members of BSS, definitely look nothing like "Mr. Bedford" going off of the silhouette alone. From how Baggrumman addresses him, I'm certain that "Mr. Bedford" is an entirely new character, possibly the guy who's in charge of this whole operation.

10 bucks Mr. Bedford is a woman. Already happened once with The Overseer.

While that'd be both funny and on brand for the writers (remember when we all thought Kenny Eisner was a dude?) I have reason to believe that "Mr. Bedford" is a guy. From what I've heard of his voice, I think he's played by Ben Diskin.

So, anyone see the teaser for the upcoming episodes? To avoid spoiling, it heavily implies that Mr. Bedford was behind the São Paulo/Lima incident from season 6, as well Laura coming back to try to kill Juan Carlos and Mary.

IIRC, the San Paõlo/Lima incidents were committed by the Menace, so... the whole "BSS is the Menace" theory might actually be valid.

Today's episode, "Tucked into Bedford," focuses on, of all characters, President Freya and Pablo, who was appointed by her to be the United States Attorney General. The two of them have gone to Bedford Security Solutions HQ to handle some negotiations. Kaon and Mii show off their character dynamic as they give the President and the Attorney General a tour of their facilities, Mii having No Sense of Direction while Kaon tries with all his might not to spill their ties to the Menace. They almost seem like spear and distaff counterparts to Monika and Nero respectively: Kaon, like Monika, is graceful and mature, but is a bad liar and rushes into conflicts head-first without thinking of the consequences. Mii, on the other hand, is energetic, nonchalant and dirty minded, but has a strategic way of thinking that gives her an advantage, like Nero.

The current CEO of BSS, Max Bedford, is in hospice at the moment, so operations of the company have been temporarily handed over to his son Gary (aka the "Mr. Bedford" the Baggrumman was talking to last episode), who is next in line to inherit the company because nepotism. Gary Bedford is... okay, there's no sugarcoating it; he's a fucking asshole. An insufferable genius trust fund brat who uses his autism as an excuse to get away with being a spoiled, pushy smartass which, due to his position of power, no one can do anything about. It's been too long since we've had an antagonist like this; a mean, whiny intellectual hasn't posed a serious threat since... what, Dr. Retina in season two? While making one of your autistic reps a hate sink is a pretty controversial move, Gary's inevitable comeuppance should be something to look forward to.

But that enough of my opinions. What you're here for is the plot — more specifically, what Freya and Pablo are doing here in the first place. Well, you see, Gary Bedford's autistic special interest is the Twilight Empress. Man is obsessed, and I mean obsessed — BSS headquarters has a whole room dedicated to housing written records of the Twilight Empress' exploits, from poems to newspaper articles, as well as almost everything Wanderin' John has ever written about her. Almost. Gary is a firm believer in the conspiracy theory that the Twilight Empress didn't actually die in 1908 like everyone claims, and that she is actually still alive today. Gary called President Freya was called to BSS so he could "politely" (read: very dickishly) ask to access the unpublished John Smith manuscripts held within the Library of Congress, which in his eyes could prove that she's still alive. Freya denies the request, as his lack of courtesy and the fact that he held her and Pablo at gunpoint might've left a bit of a bad impression on her.

At the end of the episode, we see into the bedroom of a BSS employee (the one who wears the armor with Zira's color scheme) talking to a picture of her and her brother, which looks a lot like the pic Lobo had of him and Dolly on his phone that we saw in Archon's Gate. Guys, I think we all know what this means...

It means that Dolly is a member of BSS. And judging by what she says at the end of the episode...
