Misused: Dueling Works

Removed the tables et al. from Dueling Works.Games (code can be found at Sandbox.Dueling Works Games)

Out of curiosity, what program is being used to execute the regular expressions listed on Sandbox.Dueling Works? I'm positive I have several implementations to choose from since I use Linux, but I've never worked with regular expressions myself.

Not sure if "anything besides office text editors and generic notepad" applies, but it's a pretty standard function nowadays. You can see here me copying the two lines to Notepad++.

It turns out the text editor I use has an option to find and replace using regular expressions in addition to plain text.

I forgot to ask, but are there any example sandboxes other than Sandbox.Dueling Works Games? Sandbox.Dueling Works appears to just have instructions for how to reformat examples.

I think it's been stalled for a few months. No one appears to be working on it right now.

Eh... sure, I'll do the table reformatting tomorrow since I have no better things to do atm.

Tested it on DuelingWorks.Anime And Manga. Some manual fixes were needed, but if it looks correct I'll go through the pages one by one later so we can cleanup (with text being comprehensible to do so) next.

Looks nice.

Much better and much more mobile-friendly (and much more desktop-friendly without needing to have a very large monitor (or multiple monitors) with very high resolution set to Wide Load and fully zoomed out)

Looking at past conversation, and because it was excluded from the script, I take the Winner section is to be cut entirely. Just noting that if there are any trivia parts that could be moved to "implementation", I can't check ~90 comparisons per genre, so that column isn't carrying over. If they should stay I can append them through page history.

Extra notes:

• If some of these look like Wall of Text, it's because there are multiple comparisons at once and I had to remove linebreaks during processing.
• Some of them are very subjecively written or were missing info, they can probably be cut for ZCE reasons.
• Some works don't use Red Link or ptoholed under wrong name.
• Also suggesting adding a year range for series and franchises.

I am done. (Wasn't so difficult if you know what you're doing, was it? Only took 3 hours, though I'm very tired.)

Anyway, the TRS can go on. Where have we left off, is the defenition settled? I think we can go read (and clean) each review and remove pairs that don't sound like they would interefere wich each other's sales/viewership.

Yes, we're removing the "Winner" category. That was on a previous crowner.

And I think the definition is staying the way it is now, so I don't think the description needs to be sandboxed (just the subpages).

I don't know a lot of the works on Dueling Works but I guess I can try cleaning some works anyways. I'll look through the Western Animation folder

Yes, but you should be wary of Long-Runners. Doctor Who started in 1963, but can still "duel" with something released a half-century later.

This is why I suggest adding end years as well to see if they overlap.

These are the requirements I posted when I called the crowner:

• Should be within the same media category
• Should have same/close genre
• Should be released within one year of each other
• In the case of series, should have overlapping runs

The fourth bullet point would apply to Long-Runners dueling with newer series that are competing with them. I'm pretty sure the third requirement mostly comes into play for non-serial works.

• Dueling Games (379 wicks) is a redirect to DuelingWorks.Games.
• Dueling Movies (584 wicks) and Duelling Movies (32 wicks are redirects to DuelingWorks.Film.

What do with those, are these okay? I'd think on trivia pages only Dueling Works should be mentioned.

Also I've discovered Dueling Products (30 wicks), which as-is is a separate trope, should it be moved to DuelingWorks.Products? I've un-tabled the same table as in others meanwhile without removing anything.

I think Dueling Products should get a separate thread instead of being grouped with this one. Feel free to add it to the queue. I'm not sure if it would need a wick check, partially because the wick count is so low, and partially because the main problem is with the page's layout.

Ok, I forgot that I said I was going to work on this. I'll try to get something done this week end.

I wonder if we can move this to short term project since I don't think we have to do any wick cleaning.

The only main question remaining I think is if the subpages redirects are allowed or they should be moved to the main page.

Not sure if I understood wick "cleaning" correctly, I don't recall off-page examples checked if they fit the new description.

Oh, in that case we did need to clean examples to make sure they fit the new description. Not sure how the example look off page.

I feel like we need to add the new requirements to the page description to make them transparent.
