C.O.A.S.T., occult secret agents against the supernatural, signup thread

I changed it to be somewhat less confusing.

So, are you willing to accept my character into the RP?

@Greydoom: You gotta have a little patience; this is a forum, not an instant messenger. I've got stuff going on in real life like work and such, and can't be here all the time.

Anyway, Lenard Cordon is accepted, though I'll note that if he became insubordinate to a degree that puts a mission or human lives in jeopardy, C.O.A.S.T. would forcibly take him off of field missions and make him take extra training to get that in check before allowing him to go on them again.

I've worked your character arriving into the latest post, though I'd suggest you read the whole thing from the beginning so you know the context of what's going on. He would've been given a copy of the mission briefing, so in-character he should know some about what's going on too.

Name: Noah Rodriguez

Age and gender: Male, 27

Class: Herald of One

Friendly Bump is a large, scrawny, 8'2" jet-black humanoid creature. It usually sticks to Noah's side or back, and has the ability to induce visual and/or auditory hallucinations in others. Inducing these hallucinations wear out the creature (which Noah named Ark) more and more depending on the size/degree of the hallucination.

Skills: General fighting skill, charisma (good for negotiations and such), rather fast, and is great at gambling and selling things/ideas to people.

Appearance: Blonde, short, messy hair, scar over his right eye, and green eyes. About 6'3". Usually wears a suit, or a button-up with suspenders clipped to black polo pants, as well as black shoes and fingerless gloves. Sleeves always rolled up if wearing a button-up.

Items: Dice, cards, poker chips, etc. as well as his favorite butterfly knife and a baseball bat.

Personality: Charismatic (or at least tries to be), extroverted and enjoys generally hanging out. If you couldn't tell, he has a love for gambling, especially high-stakes. Also is a man of his word, and won't break a deal once it's made.

Back story: After a rough childhood that he generally doesn't like to get into, Noah eventually met Ark. It happened 3 months after opening his rather successful casino, in the nearby forest. Noah enjoyed taking strolls there when he got stressed, when the headaches and migraines surfaced. After taking an aspirin or two, there it was. This tall shadow... thing, with glowing yellow eyes that towered almost two feet above him. He freaked at first, as anyone would, but eventually, he began becoming it's friend. Nothing much, he just brought it leftovers every now and then, but apparently that was enough. It grew attached to him, and soon enough he was getting contacted by C.O.A.S.T., an acronym he had never heard of before, about joining them. They seemed to know more about these "bumps" then he did, and so, he opted in.

Other: Noah gets migraines when over-stressed, and used to rely on alcohol to ignore his problems. He's now trying to get better, and has been sober for a good 8 months.

@Omega-Z: Huh, seems like everybody just wants to play as Heralds... Anyway, the only little mistake on your post aside from lack of markup is that you should specify he's a Herald of One, not just a Herald.

Otherwise, it doesn't seem overpowered or anything, but I would like to ask a few questions just to make sure we're on the same page on things, about "Ark".

Is it a physical creature or incorporeal?

How does it induce the hallucinations? Does it have to touch the target? Just be within a certain distance? Be looking at them directly? Does it have to do anything specific like certain gestures or does it just happen?

And is its capabilities limited to just the hallucinations or is it capable of fighting at all?

Ah, okay! Well, it's a physical creature, and the hallucinations are induced via eye contact. It can throw a punch and such, but it's nothing extraordinary physically, and kinda a twig in terms of build. Also, there's no gestures or anything, but it tends to whisper unintelligible things randomly whilst inducing them

@Omega-Z: Okay, glad we've got that cleared up. Noah Rodriguez is accepted; hopefully he won't go betting with his life.

Of course, the problem right now is that it doesn't really make much sense in story for your character to be present yet, so until the team has good reason/opportunity to call in more backup, you'll have to wait. I'll see what I can do to make sure that doesn't last longer than a week or so of real life time.
