Well, he does spend half the season in a coma.
You lost!Yeah Wednesday and Eugene's friendship is actually quite popular. It's just not as talked about as say Wednesday and Enid's (for obvious reasons) or even Enid and Yoko's (for reasons I don't get).

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadOne thing I've been thinking is that in future seasons more Hydes might show up and they might consider Tyler Galpin an incompetent loser for losing to a rookie werewolf.

Nah, I think we're kinda done with Hydes. They're essentially werewolves themselves, except for a couple of mechanics that were rather specific to the evil plot of this first season.
The show doesn't seem to be done with Tlyer, at least.
How would people feel about recasting Xavier? And if they did, would they not mention it, or explain the change in appearance through magic or something? Recasting used to be fairly common in shows and even movies, but has become more rare these days (not counting reboots).
I think they're recasting the guy from the Witcher, right? And he's the main character. Recasting Xavier shouldn't be a problem and it's not as if he has a big fandom that would complain (as would be the case with Enid and obviously Wednesday herself).
Witcher is a bad example, Cavil left because he didn't like the script, and the next season will most likely suffer a huge drop in ratings.
But in itself, Xavier's actor is replaceable, since the one that really matters is Jenna Ortega.
I have seen some potential recasts thrown around and I would be okay with it. Though then again I thought Xavier was dull and maybe a recast will give him some more personality.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadthe fact that the character is boring is more how he is written than by the actor.
You are correct it is ultimately down to how it is written.
Honestly what would you guys think if they got rid of Xavier? Like he is not super important to the story beyond a red heiring and a potential love interest both of which is kind of easy to replace by writing a new one.

Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadIf they're going to replace the character, at least give the replacement a differentiable personality.
In most cases where a character is replaced, the replacement is almost a clone of the original.
—- And I stand by my stance that Tyler will be seen as a loser in future seasons, for losing to a rookie werewolf.

Aren't "hydes" supposed to be rare in this show? They said they haven't seen one in a long time.
Honestly both Xavier and Tyler could never come back and I don't think the show will lose anything.
You and I remember Budapest very differentlyTo be fair, its only been one season. Its entirely possible both characters could be developed more in future seasons, if given the chance.
" Tyler could never come back "
Disagree, he is the villain, and the villain adds a lot to a series.
^TBH he was more of the villain's tool than a villain in his own right
To be fair I would like to see how Tyler would function as the big bad.
Fan-Preferred Couple cleanup threadMs. Thornhill is the main villain, Tyler was just her minion. And a new season could very easily mean new villains, that is pretty common.
They could, if given the chance. But I think they could also be replaced with new characters without the show taking a hit. Opposed to Enid, who would be missed if she didn't return.

Sad news but the original Wednesday is no longer with us.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."RIP
You and I remember Budapest very differentlyIt feels weird how popular this show turned out to be. I remember reading the premise a bunch of years ago and clocking it as just another weird spin-off people will forget.
It's just that online nerds who are critical about fandoms are a vocal minority. This was popular because of their gen z little siblings/kids.
Sturgeon's Law is also in effect for derivative works. Most reboots/spinoffs/sequels are shit cash grabs, but occasionally one will strike gold.
I cannot stress how much I would have been in love with Wednesday had I seen it as a teenager.
Like...she reminds me of "What if Veronica Mars was played by a young Natalie Portman", and those two happen to have been my biggest teenage crushes.
When she says, "It would be terrible. They'd know I couldn't get the job done."
I actually thought, "Okay, when I was in high school, I would have been following this girl like a puppy."
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters. So I don't know if this was brought up here but Jenna is going to be an executive producer for season 2 and wants to focus more on horror and not romance.
This sounds promising as the romance or in particular the love triangle in season 1 was the most criticized aspects of the season. Stepping away from that even for a bit sounds like a good idea.
