The thing is that the Addams family suffers from Adaptation Displacement to the level of even if you are aware of the New Yorker cartoons you probably never really checked them out. Funny enough, it seems the 60's TV show is when they actually got names and more defined personalities, the cartoons was more about the artistry and themed humor. And it wasn't until the movies that Wednesday became THE iconic family member because of Christina Ricci's incredible performance, beforehand Wednesday was a Spoiled Sweet little girl rather than taking after her mother.

While the Thanksgiving rebellion in Values is probably the most famous gag, the core Addams Family theme has been that they are admirable people with just an odd fashion sense, skewed priorities and a love of the macabre. Other people similarly TRY to be friendly to them but are often turned off by their insanity. Focusing too much on "getting revenge on normal people" may miss that point.

Do you not know that in the service one must always choose the lesser of two weevils!

[up]That too.

They're not psychopaths. They're the opposite of the average American sitcom family. They're happy, they love and support each other, and they embrace who they are. They still have a sense of morality.

Moticia would probably object to Wednesday dismembering someone because it's immoral. Part of the point of the subplot in Values is that it's also Wednesday on her own away from parental influence.

There's literally jokes about Wednesday trying to kill her brother.

She's kind of cuckoo.

Well Wednesday is nuts. But the other members are pretty cool.

> What I really want to know is where the hell she sourced those piranha from. Like you can't get those at a neighborhood pet shop; they are something you'd have to import and hope like hell customs doesn't seize them.

I imagine the Addams have their own piranha breeding pool. Seems the sort of they'd have.

Netflix put out a clip from the show, showing a scene with Wednesday and Thing. Here it is:

Its interesting that Wednesday herself is obviously inspired by the 90s movie version. But Uncle Fester seems more based on the 60s tv show version. And people have said that Gomez is more based on the comic strips.

They announced that in March, so it's not exactly a spoiler. It was just a question of who she was gonna play.

I am actually more excited for this show more than I thought I would be. I know that a lot of fans aren't exited about the new entry but I am just looking forward with something a bit new from the Addams Family.

I love the opening.

Also another point towards the Enid dying theory.

They released a new behind the scenes featurette.

Looks good. I am glad to see more of the actual supporting characters. I especially look forward to seeing more of Enid and Wednesday's and Wednesday and Tyler's dynamics.

Don't know if this has been discussed yet, but it seems that Jenna Ortega had a very stressful experience for season 1. Apparently, it was really confusing because different directors wanted different things out of her. Which gives me a bit of concern about the show. TBF though, the show always did sound a bit wonky since I remember a description of psychic powers, among other things. And Tim Burton hasn't been having the best record lately in terms of critical reviews. So, after the initial hype, I'm back to thinking that this is a show that may last one or two seasons, and that people will think back on as looking good and having an excellent actress in Ortega, but otherwise kinda being all over the place.

I have read that and, while I don't want to scream doom before anything as the show looks good to me, that did give me concern. I mean isn't that true for most shows, though. Either way I am not going to try to predict quality before the show.

Either way the main thing that concerns me is some of the creators hyping up a potential romance with Tyler. Given Netflix's track record with romance, I was hoping they would avoid romance for Wednesday.

Wednesday did have a romantic interest once in that Musical. Apparently, she also gets a haircut too there.

Yeah. That romance wasn't well received.

Her only well recieved romance was with Joel from Values.

That said I am also not against it. If it's handled well like with Joel I will eat my words. I also would just find it amusing considering the already large fanbase for Wednesday/Enid. But I just worry that it will be underdeveloped or rushed. That's probably just me though.

I just realized that Tim Burton working on this is the closest that we'll ever get to Wednesday meeting Lydia Deetz (besides that one time the actresses were in the same movie together).

I'll reserve judgement until I see the show. Or at least the first episode.

"Wednesday"?. Variety just tweeted an image from some sort of event or premiere that had the "day" inn the Wednesday crossed out and replaced with "gay". I'm not sure what they mean by that. I don't think it's a hint of things to come, but maybe it's a nod to it already developing a large LGBT Fanbase.

People are already "shipping" characters when the show hasn't even come out yet? Has there been anything to indicate Wednesday will be a lesbian in this show, or do people just really want the representation in this show? How will people react if Wednesday ends up with a guy?

Yeah. There has already been a development of a sort of cult like mentality of shippers for Wednesday and Enid. Like there's large ones on Tumblr and Twitter, plus I kid you not over a 140 fics for them on AO3.

No there has not been any hints towards this. Fans just really want Wednesday to be gay. Though I have also seen fans wanting her to be Asexual as well but that doesn't get as much attention.

Not well considering they are ready bullied an interviewer into removing a part of a video where they discussed the possibility of Wednesday/Tyler.
