Getter Arc 2021 - The final chapter of the manga is now being animated

Getter Arc, the final story in Ken Ishikawa's Getter Robo saga, finally has an animated adaptation.

Now it's been way too long since I've had a dose of Getter Rays, so brb going to watch Takuma wreck stuff.

2D animation was a bit ropey admittedly, but hardly an insurmountable obstacle.

The 3D animation, the actual mecha combat was good stuff.

Dragon 2021 will keep me here, that much is for sure.

Watched episode 2.

They made reference to 4 generations of Getter.

That would be the original, the G model, Getter Robo Go, and Shin I imagine.

The full version of Bloodlines is awesome

Go didn't count because like Neo it doesn't use Getter Rays. They meant OG, G, Shin, and then Arc.

D2's just a MP version of Getter G, and much weaker to boot.

Huh. I must need to have my eyes checked, cause I thought D2 was a mass produced Shin.

Also, I'll have to take your word on the bloodlines line, cause it's not available.

Mass producing Shin Getter sounds like a good way to fast track the apocalypse.

Well making Getter period fast tracks the apocolypse, so it's damned if you do, damned if you don't.

The irony is, if these different dudes didn't keep attacking humanity to prevent Getters, humans wouldn't keep building Getters to defend themselves.

True. But that'd be like taking it from times eight speed to times eighty.

If only the Saurians tried diplomacy first.

It's a self-dooming thing. They sent forces into the past to attack Humanity to preemptively stop the Getter Emperor from existing, forcing the Getter pilots to escalate and the Getters themselves to evolve faster. This seals their fate as the only future that exists when Getters become strong enough is that of the Getter Emperor, and humanity has a huge grudge against the assholes who kept trying to kill them...

It kinda makes you think that maybe they should have left well enough alone.

Or, told Humanity of the threat of Getter ahead of time. They could have probably given some evidence considering they're from the future.

Or whatever. The Dinosaur Empire is clearly from earth, but I think the demons were the ones from the future.

Or maybe they just need to switch to Spiral Energy.

It can be just as dangerous, but there's apparently less of a surefire chance of humanity destroying themselves simply because humans aren't that foolish.

Spiral Energy is just as dangerous. TTGL/STTGL would have destroyed everything in the known universe if the Antispirals didnt contain their fight in a pocket dimension. The biggest thing is Simon promised to abstain from abusing it after beating the Antispirals. Well, that, and Spiral Energy isnt sentient.

Spiral energy is just tame Getter Rays.

Ryoma’s mom kicked butt.

The official music video for BLOODLINES is pretty cool, I always knew JAM Project had some actual superheroes on board.

When I think of how I want a super robot show to be in terms of raw action, Getter Arc seems to hit all the right notes.

The More Dakka scene was amazing.

So I read the manga to see how deep we had to get before the series would have to go off the rails, but this episode seems to have jumped that position ahead.

Oh, and for the confused, Getter Dragon is the main form of the one from G. So the progression is Getter Robo => Getter Dragon => Shin Getter Robo => Getter Arc.

They seem to have combined the bug invasion at the town and lab with Benkei's final scene from Getter Robo G. Who even knows where this is going? Maybe they're just catching the audience up with what happened to Getter Dragon. Having the bug lady active outside of the ghost flashback makes sense if they still intend to have this part end the same way.

Episode 4

We finally get HEATS 2021.

By the end of the SHIN GETTER ROBO manga (which ends before the timeskip where Ryoma fathers Takuma and before the Getter Go manga), Getter Dragon was buried deep under Saotome Labs where it was transforming into something new.

I'll freely admit I only know classic Getter and Arc apart from their head shapes. I thought Dragon was one of the ones the bug lady buries in the manga. And that it was drenched in getter rays when they blew the old lab's reactor.

The buried Getter Dragon became a plot point in the Daikessen! PS 1 game, where it finishes evolving into SHIN Getter Dragon (Which makes a reappearance in SRW T).

Its also obvious to me now that the "will of Getter" that appeared to the main trio is identical to the figure identified as Getter Dragon in the very final chapter of Arc.

Woo. New episode, and a new ending as well. This time it's a redo of The opening of Shin Getter Robo vs Neo Getter Robo, Storm.

Considering we had Dragon first, and now Storm, it looks like they're deliberately going backwards through themes, so depending on how long this is, we may get Heats next, then Ima no sono toki da for Getter Robo Armageddon, then maybe start getting TV show themes until we reach the original theme.

Also looks like Benkei is still alive and inside the evolving Dragon.

So....better off than Musashi, who just plain ass died then?
