RPG STATUS: Tentative, Open

There is a park where dreams... and nightmares... come true. A cotton-candy-and-razor-blade carnival for family and fiends friends, overseen by The Great Mouse, a being from the other side of the stars.

People, however, are fickle and grow tired of the same-old thrills and scares. Desperare for more victims visitors, the park has now opened the heavily publicized and several times delayed Appoc-Campus, a mini-park dedicated to brightly colored characters from the comic books. Several of the rides are not officially open yet, but the Spectacular Stunt Show is running and all the stores have opened their doors, desperate to hawk their over-priced and rapidly becoming out-dated wares.

"Lucky", the head of hero-support of Appoc-Campus, has said that if the Appoc-Campus can make it a full week without melting down he'll consider it a success.

This story is inspired by The Happiest Apocalypse on Earth setting. You character is either Hero Support, Inside Reporter, or Performer. In any of those three roles you have heard some of the rumors of 'The Great Mouse', said to be a spirit that watches over the park. In time of great need, you may call upon The Great Mouse and hope that he will smile upon you. At all times, the goal of The Great Mouse and the Park's management is to keep the victims visitors flowing through the park.

This will be round-robin story telling; Each person describes what she or he is doing through out each of the seven days of the opening, dealing with any tasks that Lucky might assign them and doing their part to keep the park running or try to find the Truth behind The Great Mouse. Please remember that your character is human normal, with a minor gift in either technical knowledge, physical strength, investigating, or socializing. Some of the challenges you face will require you working with fellow characters, either those of your fellow players or park NPCS. The goal of the park is to keep visitors flowing no matter what, to keep The Great Mouse fed pleased. The tone should be somewhere between dark comedy and horror. You may treat your own character and NPCS as you like, please get other players engagement before directly involving them. Calling another player's character on a radio for help is fine; taking control of that character is not.

In time of great peril you may call upon The Great Mouse, but be warned: if you call on The Great Mouse too often (three times) he will claim you instead. The Great Mouse's favor can be used to heal an otherwise permanent injury or perform a similar minor adjustment in reality. (Adjustments must be to a limited area and must either not leave surviving witnesses among park visitors or be able to be explained away by mundane means.)

Your character may take one of three roles in the park:

Hero Support: Despite the grandiose title, you are one of the countless employees working around the Appoc-Campus to keep it running. While your tasks may change through-out the day, your basic mission is always to preserve the illusion for the visitors that the Park is a sanitary and happy place of innocent joy. You keep the rides running, the food hot and fresh (or at least deep fried), and clean up the bodies. As Hero Support, you choose whether you have an edge in keeping the park's technology running (tech) or if your contribution is more in the form of physical muscle (body).

Inside Reporter: You may be working for a commercial travel blog, a magazine, or even your own View-Tube channel. Regardless, you've secured a special week pass for the opening in return for promoting the Appoc-Campus's grand opening. Your character has an edge in investigating.

Performer: You dress up as one of the colorful comic characters. In addition to performing in the daily Spectacular Stunt Show, you walk through the park and interact with the park visitors. Some of you have your own special mini-shows. Your character has an edge in socializing. If performer, feel free to include information on what comic character you play and any special equipment/tools you use to simulate that character's amazing powers.

When submitting your character entry, please include a park detail: A description of one of the brightly colored comic book characters featured in the park and then either a ride, themed restaurant, or special park-exclusive toy special product inspired by that character. Please add a detail that makes the ride, restaurant, or toy a little sinister.

Example:

CHARACTER NAME: Larry "Lucky" Roy

PLAYER NAME: Nodrog

DESCRIPTION: An aging man in his late 40s, Larry "Lucky" Roy is the only known living relative of Elias Roy, the original creator (As far as people know) of Mouse Park. While the CEO and board of directors who run the business empire bought all the rights from Elias Roy, they still keep Elias's grand-nephew employed for good-will. Larry once had a full head of copper-red hair, but now he only has a copper-red rat tail and the rest of his head is bald. For the Appoc-Campus's opening week he has abandoned his normal badly fitting business suit for a badly-fitting jumpsuit similar to the style work by the parks numerous 'Hero Support'.

ROLE: Hero Support - Management. Lucky passes on orders to the HERO SUPPORT and PERFORMERS, orders he either gets from the park's board of directors of from The Great Mouse.

EDGE: Tech - Specialty, communication equipment. In addition to trying to manage Appoc-Campus, Lucky is the go-to guy if your radio, wireless microphone (used in the various stage shows), or cell phone stops working.

PARK DETAIL:

COMIC CHARACTER: Splatter-Man. Silas E. Putterman was an ordinary high-school chemistry teacher when an accident changed his body chemistry. Now he is the near-indestructible neighborhood Splatter-Man: A man who flings himself through his city fighting crime. His major powers are the ability to stick to a wide variety of surfaces, stretch out his limbs, and the fact that when hit with sufficient force his body temporarily 'splatters' into semi-liquid and then reforms itself, sometimes with a new appearance. The changing appearance and elongating limbs were not part of the original character design but only came out due to lazy comic art, where the artists would sometimes draw Silas off-model. Rather then replace the art work, the editor just claimed that Silas's appearance sometimes changed after impact and called it a day.

RIDE, TOY, OR RESTAURANT: Splatter-Man has a special part in the Spectacular Stunt Show: An actor dressed as Splatter-Man climbs into a special air cannon, only to secretly swap places with a gel dummy. The dummy is then launched from an air cannon at a wall, then the performer (or a replacement performer, if the first performer didn't manage the switch in time) emerges from a hidden panel in the wall, claiming to be a reformed Splatter-Man.

The Light That Blinds

  • Character Name: Harper Lynn
  • Player Name: LilyTheLitten
  • Description: A young man in his twenties, standing at 5'7. Chipper, energetic, and eager to be on the scene. Not actually followed by white bees.
  • Role: Inside reporter. Harper works for Global Hot Spots, a magazine dedicated to finding the best travel places, or "hot spots", in the world. Appoc-Campus offered them a special-week pass in exchange for promoting the park's grand opening, and Harper was more than happy to take the job.
  • Edge: Investigating. Global Hot Spots prioritizes accurate information and honesty to the readers first and foremost. Harper goes over even the most minor incidents with a fine-tooth comb. Last thing he wants is to send their readers to their deaths.
  • Park Detail:
    • Comic Character: Clockwork. Kieran Woods was an ordinary teenager. Then, he was kidnapped by the mad scientist Dr. Ticktock and converted into a Clockpunk cyborg. After Dr. Ticktock was defeated by the heroes, Kieran decided that he might as well put this to use, and became a superhero himself. Notable for being created almost completely on accident—the writers had run out of ideas for a villain anthology with the deadline fast approaching, so they panicked and wrote the final chapter about the cyborg that Dr. Ticktock unleashed on the city. The character was surprisingly well-received, so they wrote about Clockwork more and more, and eventually, he was popular enough to get his own series. Also notable for being considerably darker than most of the other comics.
    • Ride, Toy, or Restaurant: Cogs within Cogs. Cogs within Cogs is an escape room. The participants are locked in the Tick Tock Tower, and must escape in an hour before Dr. Ticktock converts them into more clock cyborgs. Extensively clockpunk-themed, the tower is tall, many-storied, and packed with all sorts of things to enhance the experience—fake dried blood on the floor, keys that need to be wound to reveal rooms, and large exposed gears that are just big enough to crunch up a person. Escape in the allotted time, and you're allowed to leave. Fail the room, and...well, no one knows for sure. None of the losers have left the tower yet.

"Kept me waiting, haven’t you? Tch. No matter. Dawdle all you’d like. In the end, your defeat remains inevitable."
