It's more that you are taking it into yourself, at least metaphorically. (Consuming/trying to profit from all of the monster - mainlining it into the economy)
It might be in a spot where some things might be worth discussing: "Mainlining", to me, implies a certain level of recklessness or disregard for consequences to others. Neither the description or the example list reflects that, so a clarification might be in order.
The title is a stretch.
I'm surprised no one asked about the term on the YKTTW.
I'm surprised it had a TLP, tbh.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAny other thoughts? I intend to sometime TRS this for a more descriptive title.
Before a rename (Or any other action) can be productively discussed, there'd need to be a sampling of how the trope is currently used. So, Wick Check.
I'm not so sure that there's a significant difference from Milking the Monster, so maybe keep some comparisons in mind?
Yeah, got that. Keeping in mind Milking is a good idea.
I think that the title would make sense for a trope about consuming something evil to gain powers because of the frequent drug/addiction metaphors in those stories, and i think that's how it's used on a lot of work pages

Mainlining the Monster
"Mainline" is a term related to railways or injecting into a vein. You're not giving the monster drugs or using it as a train.
