X Meets Y Nuances: ZCEs, Bloated Entries, and Fan Myopia

You have a point, again. Honestly my suggestion was based purely on kneejerk emotion, and possibly a little unrelated irritation as well because I'm sick and sort of feel like death right now. So you should definitely take anything I say on the matter with a grain of salt because I wasn't really thinking it through beyond a personal gut reaction.

No worries! I think your concerns are valid, I'm just responding. It's hard to find a good middle ground for handling JFF items.

I don't want JFF to have strict standards either, but it may be good if there was a certain low bar. You wouldn't post the entire lyrics to Never Gonna Give You Up to a random Drinking Game page for no reason, or would you. The concern why X Meets Y is discussed mainly because when there are 40 Ys, the fun part goes away as it becomes hard to even read and people start disagreeing what belongs in it.

Still think a crowner could tell what to do here. If it's a difficult topic, we can just take a break for a while, it's a rather low proprity issue.

My thoughts about this is we should reduce some examples but X meets Y section for characters shouldn't be deleted.

Amonimus also suggest we should do a voting poll to see who fits whom. I suggest why don't we invite some Kamen Rider fans tropers to this thread and discuss the matter.

I did ping 3 people here, so I'm waiting a couple of days to see if it goes anywhere.

I know these characters, just that doing something on a page with multiple active editors would require some form of consensus.

Each of the paged people have ignored the invitation and there's a new example, so I'm out of suggestions.

Message them again, but this time threaten them that if they don't show up, the pages will be deleted. We need to take more drastic measures here, potentially even punishment.

I mean, the page definitely won't be cut over this, but if they refuse to show up a mod might need to message them.

Considering the paging system can be unstable, even if I see the message in the outbox, I've sent a request to say something here through n3xus's and TimeKnight's profiles.

For the record, I'm not against X Meets Y, but compared to other X-Y pages that can pitch a show in 1-2 lines, the Toku-related ones have about a page-sized list of comparisons per character, which raises a question how does one tell the common traits when there are 30 other entries attached, and how to tell which of these are valid or just share a single trope.

I mean... whatever I add is due to the fact that I've actually seen (many of) the shows and how some of the characters are like... some of my edits for fixing spelling...

Thing is, man, you're on TVT. There's a million character tropes out there; some characters just happen to be alike. That doesn't necessarily mean that every character needs to be compared to every other character.

So what happens to those pages sooner or later...?

Hopefully those entries are cleaned to reduce the amount of characters in each entry to the ones that actually matter for the purposes of the equation.

When are we going to start the cleanup and remove some bloated examples.

When people who actually know the show can examine the bad examples and narrow them down to just a few works/characters.

I'll try picking a few later but make no promises, there's a lot to go through. Also I like how the wiki engine chokes in edit history because of the 4th identation level.

Rules I suggest:

1. One example per work/character.
2. No more than 3 comparative items per example.

I think multiple examples is okay, but each one should have a different combination. Maybe we should limit how many times one of the X's can be repeated in other examples for the same work.

Even I have no issue with multiple examples but it shouldn't be to long. In order to limit the examples, I suggest why don't we add characters from the series that are similar to others. For example zero one series is similar to Go Busters, Beast Morphers, Vrains and Build Divers etc. So we can retain characters from those series as a example to Zero One characters and remove the examples of characters from shows that aren't similar to Zero One, for ex Gekiranger isn't similar to Zero one since Geki is a martial arts theme series while Zero one is Robot and technology series.

That feels kind of redundant. I'm still not for characters being included either way.

Giving this thread a bump because I'm not sure what else to do.

Earlier this week I got a PM from one of the tropers involved in this thread and the ATT thread I formed a while back regarding the Kamen Rider X Meets Y pages. I didn't have time to reply then and was going to do so now. Problem is the PM is no longer in my messages and I can't remember if it was Soul Buy complaining about Time Knight, or vice-versa. One thing mentioned was they weren't sure what to do because the thread had stalled, so I wanted to give this thread a bump to try and jump start things a bit, maybe get one or the other to respond.

With one new season announced and the other still ongoing, new entries are being added almost daily now. The one idea brought up was each troper having own lists limited to 2-5 comparisons. Though for a list of my own, I'm kinda not in the mood reviewing every character in dozens of seasons compared to every character that existed before.

Is it drastic to lock this particular page until we (especially the editors involved) can hash out a solution here?

Whenever I tried to do a cleanup Time Knight will never allow me to do it and he keeps on re-adding them. If anyone of you are doing a cleanup to that page, he will still do the same thing and I even send a PM to him and most of the people tried to warn him but he never listens. Why don't we ask a moderator to be in charge of that page or take drastic action but I guess this idea sounds lame.
