INVADERS FROM THE STARS

PROLOGUE

You wake up along with 10 other people in a metallic room. Your bed is comfortable, but you don't know where you are.

A tiny, bee-like robot sits flying in the middle.

"Greetings," chirped out the bug in a computerized, yet expressive voice. "My name is BZ-X. I have brought all of you here as a cry for help.

"You see, I traveled here from the near future. 10 years in the future, the world is overtaken by space creatures who wish ill harm on all of humanity. I have gathered all of you here, as the prophecy has stated that each of your talents will be used to stop this alien threat."

BZ-X buzzes on to the floor. "The earth is in great danger, and my job is to guide you all through this long and treacherous journey."

"Oh my. That seems interesting. But why us?"

"Our Grand Computer on the mothership has prophecised your success."

"Ungh...where...where am I?"

"Forgive my suspicion," says the other robot-looking creature in the room. "But how can we be sure you are from the future, and that this prophecy will come to pass?"

"You are aboard an escape pod from the mothership in the near future. It is made of materials that allow for time travel. I simply gathered all of you using tractor beams in your sleep. My apologies, however all of you are needed to save the world from a dire fate."

"The reason I am sure this prophecy will come to pass... is hope. Hope that the Grand Computer is able to correctly determine the outcome of me bringing you here. You will all just have to trust me."

"Saving the world? I...don't like where this is going..."

Ceres slowly opens her eyes. She'd been working for nights on end on a new game, and in her sleep deprived state, barely even comprehends that she's in a new room at first. She literally rolls out of bed, and hits the floor.

"Uggh...what's going on?" she mumbles. She's a young woman, light brown skin, curly red-brown hair, seemingly college-aged, and wearing the same jeans, boots, and flannel she had been wearing for the past few days. She hears the robot mumble about motherships and tractor beams and she suddenly snaps up.

"Ho-holy shit! You've abducted us! You alien! What are you gonna do? Cut us open?!"

"Let me demonstrate the dire state the world is in."

A screen flashed white in the back of the pod. It showed multiple missing persons reports on the news, and countless sightings of meteors, all played at once.

"I believe this is live television. You see, there is a great invasion coming to this planet from another galaxy."

"I will do no ill harm to you. However, there are many invaders that wish destruction on all of humanity."

"We're asked to save the world or something, I don't know."

"In order to defeat these aliens, all of you must enlighten yourselves with their knowledge. They have hidden these transmissions in eight spots around the earth. It is my duty to guide you to each."

The metallic golem leaves his bedding and sits on the floor crosslegged, intently watching the broadcast.

"...That is worrying indeed."

Though it is subtle, those with PSI-sensitivity may sense that the golem is radiating faint psychic energy.

"Tell us more of these invaders, please."

AH FUCK I WAS PLAYING SMASH I MISSED IT

Roland took a glance at the television, noticing immediately that it was a CRT from the subtle hum it let out — only somewhat audible to most typical folks, but clear as a bell to him. The graphics on the news report were notably dated, feeling like something filmed before he was born.

He stared at his fingers for a moment, watching as they glitched ever so slightly at the edges. “Well. Not the weirdest thing I’ve woken up to, but it’s up there.”

"They are the cause of many of your psychic abilities. You see, long ago, a man stole their secrets of PSI while being the first earthling to board their starship. Ever since then, their race has sworn revenge on all of humanity."

"Psychic Abilities? You mean like Personas?"

"The powers granted are somewhat similar to what you call Personas."

Ceres continues to analyze the recordings. "We're looking for transmissions, huh. How are we gonna do this? I've got some transmission detecting stuff back at my apartment."

She looks around, and notices the sheer amount robots, and a mothman? She's shocked, but also a bit validated.

"There is not a moment to lose. I will guide you all to the city where first alien transmission lies."

The pod door opens on a hilltop, overlooking a grand city.

"Many of the residents of this city have become corrupted by alien influences. The alien race has implanted mind-controlling devices into the very earth we walk on in order to enrage humanity and turn people against each other. Some are immune, but others become rogue and attack anyone they see."

"Hmm.. for example.. us?"

Tatsuya stands there, processing the info he just got.

"So...you're telling me that we...need to stop an alien invasion?"

Salomão is roused from his sleep by the television's light and wakes up a bit shook from his current situation

"Ahhhhhhhh, o que está acontecendo?!"

He looks to his right hand. A ramshackle mess of barrels, cams, and springs, covered with scrap metal plating. For long he had been searching to the reason of his existence. Perhaps the answer lies ahead of him.

"The cause, hmm..."

The golem listens to BZ-X's further exposition.

"Turning enemy civilians into their own expendable fodder. Clever, but needlessly cruel."
