Late for the party because I wanted to avoid spoilers and other stuff was going on before I could watch it. Overall I think Hot D has done a pretty good job. I wonder what will be the next period in Targ history that might get a show
Aegon the conqueror is definitely one I see next. People love the dragons. So I expect they'll focus on eras where their around.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Yeah, a story about Aegon's Conquest could be good.
Deadline claims S2 is getting trimmed to 8 episodes, in what seems to be a part-plot part-WB-is-trying-to-save-money decision:
[...]
In what is a relatively common practice, HBO did not reveal the episode order in the Season 2 renewal announcement last summer. I hear the initial plan was for another 10-episode arc, which eventually changed, leading to some script rewrites. Given the leadership change at HBO’s parent company, some pointed at Warner Bros. Discovery leadership’s focus on cost-cutting. An HBO spokesperson, who confirmed to Deadline that Season 2 will contain 8 episodes, stressed that the episode count trim was story-driven.

With a portion of the plot originally intended for Season 2, including a major battle, moving to Season 3, I hear it is now more likely that the series would run for 4 seasons but that has not been determined as Condal and Martin continue to go back-and-fourth on the amount of seasons (three or four) that would be optimal to tell the full story, sources said.
The first season as is needed a couple more episodes to detail things only to be cut short out of fear of losing the audience.
I can only imagine how this will work out in Season 2. Hopefully they can work around it.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. That is an incredibly stupid idea.
Especially given House of the Dragon actually was their big winner.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.I mean, it may not be so bad? I think the easiest "battle" to bump to S3 would be battle of the Gullet, since all the other early major battles listed on the wiki (spoilers of course) can build up the Blacks' taking of Kings Landing. While the former is geographically and logistically divorced.
Variety reports that an Aegon’s conquest prequel is indeed being “actively discussed”.
I hope so. That has a lot of potential to be a compelling story as well.
I just hope they do something interesting with the whole "Song of Ice and Fire" prophecy.
HBO realizing they have to portray Dorne with the dignity it deserves this time: Oh fuck
I actually don't know? I guess the pre-conquest Westeros will be interesting to see, but isn't Aegon's conquest just basically three incesty ppl with nukes just steamrolling most of the things in their way?
I was also hoping for something less Targy.
Sadly, George R.R. Martin's pitches are all Targaryen based and the focus of 90% of his writing.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.the actual Conquest is by far the least compelling bit of it, it's how he turned the 7 kingdoms into one and went from a feudal type system of Lords to an actual top down Royal kingdom that's the more interesting aspect. For me anyway.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."I dunno, there's a lot of great storytelling beats during aegon's conquest.
They're not from Aegon's POV, though. It's how everyone keeps (pun intended) Bullying a Dragon.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Aegon being the central point means there's a higher chance of focusing on him and his sisters like how House focuses on Viserys and the two queens to the degree of hyperfixation and diminishes chance of further characterization to those on their periphery.
To be fair, that was the focus of Fire and Blood.
So much so that the original short story was called The Two Queens.
There's bigger roles for the non-Targs in the History of Aegon.

Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Simon Russell Beale will play Ser Simon Strong, the Castellan of Harrenhal and great-uncle to Lord Larys Strong, played by Matthew Needham in Season 1. Last year, Beale won a Tony for best actor in a play for “The Lehman Trilogy” and has won two BAFTA Awards and three Olivier Awards.
Freddie Fox will play Ser Gwayne Hightower, the son of Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), brother to Queen Alicent (Olivia Cooke) and uncle to her children King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney), Queen Helaena (Phia Saban) and Prince Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). Fox has starred in Apple TV+’s “Slow Horses” and British series “Year of the Rabbit,” “Cucumber” and “Banana.”
Abubakar Salim will play Alyn of Hull, a sailor in the Velaryon fleet who served in the Stepstones campaign. Previously, Salim appeared in HBO Max’s “Raised by Wolves” and voiced the protagonist Bayek in the video game “Assassin’s Creed: Origins.”
Alyn is cast, but no sign of Adam.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youSo, if we're getting the Hull bastards, that probably confirms that we're getting Rook's Rest and all that implies before the end of season two.

Vizzy T's walking corpse look is officially Emmy nominated [1] for Best Prosthetics, along with a nomination for the show overall for Outstanding Drama and various other technicals.
Addam of Hull seems to have also been cast. Fans have apparently spotted Laenor Velaryon's actor in Wales, where the at least part of the next season is shot.
I'm weak
Season 2 can't come out soon enough
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youThere’s been rumor of leaks I hear of White Walkers making some sort of appearance:
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession....I'm very curious to see how they figure into the season's story (provided the rumor is true, of course).

That sounds like baseless rumor mongering, really.
Yeah, Daemon is unquestionably an asshole.
