Last I checked, Vampirella started off as a vampire babe from space, but then something happened and now she's NOT from space, and then there was this push to give her an outfit that's more sensible and less NSFW, but then she got her signature (and distinctive) outfit eventually, so...
Where are we right now with Vampi? Dynamite hasn't really been on my radar for some time no thanks to that racket going on this chubby YouTuber having a Kickstarter about some covers? I know they've been publishing The Green Hornet, but that's by Scott Lobdell and nobody likes that guy.
As far as my reading tells me, Vampirella was retconned from an alien to a vampire from hell in the 90s when dark urban fantasy was all the rage. The space origin occasionally gets used in elseworlds or crossovers. The Christopher Priest run (which I haven't read) was the previous run. It lasted 13 issues.
That runs kinda combines the two origins. With her being created using the blood of a demon Lord but that her mother lilith still founded a planet of vampire aliens.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I finished reading the 2010 run by Brandon Jerwa. It's a mixed bag for me. I liked the earlier issues and Sofia didn't much care for her death. The final issues got a bit confusing and I wish the monster country lasted longer.
Only Vampirella I read was when she fought Xenomorphs. It was fun.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult.I was enjoying the Nancy Collins run.
Pity it didn't last.
I have no idea what's going on with her now.

I made a page for Vampirella: The Dark Powers.
Dynamite Sells Vampirella Film & TV Rights
Mike the Pike Productions subsidiary Arowana Media Holdings secured the rights from Dynamite in a deal that includes all Vampirella stories, characters and derivative works.
That's a shame but, well, I kind of hated what they've done with her in the past....well for a long time.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Just to be clear, they sold the film and tv rights.
I made a trope page for Vengeance of Vampirella (2019) for those who want to contribute.
