The OP (me) describes an event, the next poster describes something unfortunate turn of events, then the next poster describes a fortunate turn of events, and then it alternates between unfortunate and fortunate.

According to Wikipedia:

The rules are as follows:

• Each “Unfortunately” must be followed by a “Fortunately”, and vice versa.
• No double / sandwich posting. Wait until at least 2 posts have passed after yours.
  • If you get ninja’d, you must edit your post immediately. Posts that are just “Oh, I got ’d” are banned.
• Don’t contradict any above posts. Just roll with them.

Other than that, there are no limits. Let’s begin!

Unfortunately, the Joker was a hacker and banned both Mario and Luigis accounts.

Unfortunately, the other Phantom Thieves broke into Nintendo’s top-secret databases.

Since Audgetrouble won’t edit their post, I am resuming the game.

From now on, if you get ninja’d, you must edit your post immediately. Posts that are just “Oh, I got ’d” are banned. You will be called out in public for doing so.

Unfortunately, the show ends up having one of the biggest Broken Bases ever.

Or it can be the opposite, when you get ninja-d, you just have to ninja out your post and let the other players continue the game.

Fortunately, later seasons are better received.

Unfortunately, the ratings are too low to salvage the show so it gets cancelled with no chance of a reboot
