Starting a work page: English Title or Polish?

I want to start a work page for a Polish book series Zastępy Anielskie (Angelic Hosts) by Maja Lidia Kossakowska

https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zast99py_anielskie

How should I name the tvtropes page to meet all the requirements? The Polish title requires Polish letter that would make linking to it a nightmare. And despite its quality the series isn't well known outside Poland, so the English Title might not tell people much.

(also, I still haven't figured out how to make links to works to display just the title, without the 'literature' before it. I have much more enthusiasm for tropes themselves than for technical stuff...)

If it has an official English translation, use that title. Also, just potholing it normally won't display the namespace; Literature/ASongOfIceAndFire will display A Song of Ice and Fire, without literature

I don't think it has. Even on Amazon the search shows me books in Polish... sad

So, I should stick to the Polish title? How does one make Polish letters display properly?

I don't think it's possible to pothole special characters. I think you'd make the title Literature/ZastepyAnielskie, which comes out as Zastępy Anielskie and use a custom title to make it display properly. I can't remember how to set up a custom title though

And how do you do it that sometimes the stuff you write becomes a hotlink and sometimes it doesn't?

To turn off wiki formatting, you do [=this=]. the square brackets and equals signs make everything in them display as plain text, so it turns off automatic hotlinks

Edit: I searched, and Administrivia. How To Make A Custom Title should let you put special characters into the link

Make it under the Polish name first, then when/if it gets a UK (or American or whatever) translation, it can be moved, but the Polish title is kept as a redirect anyway.

Ok, I started and it seems to work. Will take a lot of work, especially cross-linking on other pages, but I'm liking it so far

[up] You might want to take a look at How to Create a Work's Page. The new page is missing a header for the tropes section (which I have added). It was also not indexed, which is a big no-no. Also for future reference you do not need to put the full link for pages on the wiki, you can just use a Wiki Word, which for this page is Zastępy Anielskie. Thanks!smile

I've noticed this new page and sent some notifiers to braininthemachine to fix it, mainly about the missing index, but braininthemachine's last edit is from the 29th July. I've been waiting for the troper to be online and do it themselves, as learn by doing is the best in these cases, but now I think we had better index it.

Polish Media and Non-English Literature should work for starters.
