The Spear is great for the rats since it lets you pin them with constant damage while keeping out of distance from the poison. But most weapons have a way of dealing with them, since iirc both weapons that require you to be close also have a pushback mechanic.

A good thing to remember: the rats always stop when they take damage (to shake off poison). As long as you're constantly dealing damage to them, they will never move.

So, before thinking about buffs, boons or perks, what you want to do with them is put them in places you want them to be where it's easiest for you to hit them and zip off when you want too, and try to figure out ways to hit/freeze more than one of them at once.

My first clear was done with the Shield cause if you stay in a corner and hold Block it blocks pretty much everything. A real life-saver!

Yeah, the spear is an amazing counter for the rats, with the tripple stap upgrade did none of them even get near me, cleared out all chaimbers of the temple this time. I still died to Hades afterwards, but I got him down to half health. So progress is still being made.

Certain boon combos work very well with certain weapons. The gun for example is ridiculously powerful when you add the Sea Storm Duo boon.

My favorite thing to do with the gun was Artemis' seeking arrows or Aphrodite's curse for the main shots and Dionysus' poison for the missiles.

Having the Rocket Bomb and Cluster Bomb hammer upgrades for the gun is an absolute delight.

I think the only times I used the gun I used Lucifer aspect which did stupid amounts of damage with stacking Ares damage or Dionysus poison.

I also used the Hestia one a bit, although I prefered Lucifer, the Hestia aspect ended up feeling clunky.

I can make it pretty comfortably through everything prior to Hades with the spear now, but I seem to have hit a bit of a wall with his second phase.

I think I'm gonna go back experimenting with the other weapons for a bit now. Havent tried the fists and the rail in an actual run yet, so time to change that.

The rail is hard to use at first since you stop in your tracks when firing, so a zap-and-dash strategy works well there, plus stacking debuffs. I maxed out my Aspects of Zagreus ASAP to get more bullets (and other default perks for other weapons).

The fists I found easy to pick up on, especially the uppercut. XD

Well, like I said I tried a run with the fists first. It didnt go that well, I ended up dieing to theseus.

Then I tried the rail for the first time... AND I DID IT! I beat Hades.

Time 42:49,83.

Adamant Rail Aspect of Zagreus with Delta Chamber and Seeking Fire unlocked.

Heartbreak Strike, Drunken Flourish, Trippy Shot and Divine Dash as my main boons with a bunch of Artemis support boons for critical damage and the Pierced Butterfly as my keepsake.

I finally met Persephone, but as it turnes out the story is not over yet. With only more questions being raised and Zagreus being revealed to be bound to the underworld. I was invested in the plot before, but now im really invested.

If you want to try the bow I recommend aspect of Chiron. I've basically never used the fists before and I don't think you could realistically have Lucifer unlocked, so from that perspective I've barely used the rail at all as well.

The bow normally works like a shotgun for the spread and a rifle for the main attack, so you get in close for a ton of damage and dash back out. My favorite was to get Zeus or Demeter as the Special (and make sure to get Jolted with Zeus) and Dio or Aphrodite on Attack, though other combinations can work just as well.

With Aspect of Hera I stuck Dionysus on it and wrecked everything. i called it 'the bath bomb.'

The fists, meanwhile, are the weapons I love to use the most. They're the rushdown weapons, and it's super satisfying to wreck house close-up while disengaging with dashes if necessary.

The fists' Aspect of Demeter will forever be my absolute favorite Aspect of any of the weapons. It's just so satisfying to fully charge up that fist and then land a dash uppercut with it.

My favorite is just Aspect of Rama because of how absurdly overpowered it gets. Just gobble up all those Zeus boons and everything just evaporates around you.

My favorite Aspect is Gilgamesh, because the dash buff you get encourages a twitchy, fast-paced gameplay that makes me feels like the offspring of the Tasmanian Devil and a living, psychotic blender.

My second favorite is Arthur, because it's the one with the highest numbers.

And you can double the blender feeling with Ares' boons!

I love the Aspect of Demeter as well.

Although I have a tendency to be overly aggressive with the Fists, so I need some Athena boons to cover for me.

Haha Aspect of Gilgamesh & Aphrodite’s Special go brrr

Had a rather busy week so I only got to play again for an extended period today.

Still having trouble with the shield and especially the bow, but I have managed to beat Hades with the fists, spear and sword as well now. Amazing how he felt so unbeatable the first few times I fought him.

The House Contractor work orders and forging bonds with the characters is also progressing well, I'm absolutely in love with almost the entirety of the supporting cast at this point.

For the bow I'd suggest getting Zeus on the spread shot with the Jolted effect, amping up Aspect of Zagreus so you get more bolts per shot, and getting Demeter, Aphrodite, or Dionysus for the main attack. Then hit opponents with the main attack, the dash close for the spread shot do they get hit by a bunch of bolts at once which do more damage cause of Jolted and even more if you have the one Mirror Aspect that increases damage when 2 or more effects are applied.

For the shield I used Aspect of Zagreus to increase base damage and put a debuff on the throwing attack. the block feature is extremely good if you're ever stuck in a corner or fighting Hades cause you can block anything that comes straight at you, then release it to dash forward and hit.

Chaos aspect was my favorite for shield because the bouncy shields was fun and you could stack up Ares or Dionysus debuffs while also typically being very safe.

The best aspects for bow are Chiron and Rama, though I've heard just basic Zagreus aspect is perfectly decent. Rama is better but you might find it boring since you basically just dash around spamming your special.

I never used Rama very much but I loooove Chiron. Works wonders with most of the Special boons and the "Volley" hammer upgrades.
