SYSTEM

I will be using a modified version of the Cortex Plus - Leverage RPG for inspiration. When attempting a task, a dice pool will be rolled for a character to see if they succeed or fail. The dice pool will include at least two dice (representing the character's PROFESSION and ATTRIBUTE skill for that roll) and may include extra dice regarding any special TALENT, ASSET, or SITUATIONAL dice the player has for that situation. The two highest scoring dice will be added together and this result compared to the challenge rating for the task. If higher, the character succeeds. If five or more higher then the challenge, it's a success plus a bonus will be granted.

GLOSSARY

AGILITY: The ATTRIBUTE defining grace and quickness. When moving, a person with high agility can leap up walls or across roof tops and outrace guards. When talking, agility means you are good at distracting people with jokes, compliments, and changing topics.

ALERTNESS: The ATTRIBUTE defining how good a person is at noticing things. A person with high alertness can spot clues, read body language, and tell when someone is trying to lie to them.

ASSET: Something that gives an advantage to a situation, usually temporary in nature. A crowbar would be an example of an asset that could be used in a fight or breaking down a door.

ATTRIBUTE: In Leverage RPG, the Attributes are AGILITY, ALERTNESS, INTELLIGENCE, STRENGTH, VITALITY, or WILLPOWER. Attributes have both a physical and a social side to them. When rolling, your attribute dice will be a D10 (Great), a D8 (Good), or a D6 (Average).

BOOST: A temporary / one time increase of a dice. A D10 would be replaced with a D12, a D8 with a D10, a D6 with a D8, or a D4 with a D6.

CHAOS: A former rival turned ally of Leverage Incorparated. He will be the FIXER character who recruits the players into the first mission with Leverage International.

COMPLICATION: Something the FIXER introduces to make a situation more challenging. May be caused either by a player rolling a 1 on a dice or by FIXER decision.

CON-GLAM: See CON-GLAM-O-RATE. (specific to: The Face Mask Job)

CON-GLAM-O-RATE: The MARK for this first mission. Con-Glam-O-Rate, or Con-Glam for short, is a holding company that purchases other businesses (usually through shell companies) to acquire assets and then sells off those assets. They also use assets to file nuisance law-suits, forcing other companies to settle out of court rather then waste time and money in fighting off frivolous law-suits. To quote Chaos, "They've weaponized the legal system. Nice! I mean, evil and reprehensible." (specific to: The Face Mask Job)

D4: a four-sided dice, rolled to give a value from 1 to 4. Used to represent something you are bad at or at a disadvantage.

D6: a six-sided dice, rolled to give a value from 1 to 6. Used to represent something that is average.

D8: an eight-sided dice, rolled to give a value from 1 to 8. Used to represent something that is good.

D10: a ten-sided dice, rolled to give a value from 1 to 10. Used to represent something that is great.

D12: a twelve-sided dice, rolled to give a value from 1 to 12. Used to represent something amazing. Will be used rarely.

DARK FILES: Term for the files Con-Glam doesn't want to leak out to the general public. A perfect target, if the files can be reached. (specific to: The Face Mask Job)

FACE MASK JOB, THE: The OOC name of the first campaign I plan to run using this system. Other people are free to use the information in this thread to run their own Leverage RPG game. Link to Game Thread

FIXER: The person running the story. Me, in other words.

FOCUSED: A person with this build divides their six attributes so that two are Great (D10), two more are good (D8), and the final two are only average (D6).

GRIFTER: The PROFESSION of someone good at impersonating and/or talking to other people.

HACKER: The PROFESSION of someone good with technology, either electronic or mechanical. The Smart Guy of the team.

HITTER: The PROFESSION of someone good in a fight. The Big Guy of the team.

INTELLIGENCE: The ATTRIBUTE defining how much information a person knows. An intelligent person might know the one hundred most commonly used passwords or discuss fine wines.

MARK: The target of a scam.

MASTERMIND: The PROFESSION of the person with the plan. If you choose this, you will have to keep the rest of the team running and always be (or at least appear) three steps ahead. When Plan B fails, you already know what plans C through Q are.

PHOBOS PHARMACEUTICALS: One of Con-Glam-O-Rate's many subsidiaries. This one is the front for any of Con-Glam-O-Rate's medical investments. (specific to: The Face Mask Job)

PLOT POINT: Each player starts with one, and you gain one each time you trigger a COMPLICATION. Plot Points may be spent to get an ASSET, BOOST a dice for one roll, or do something to otherwise change a situation. Think of it as a way to bribe the FIXER.

PROFESSION: In Leverage, there are five professions: HACKER, HITTER, GRIFTER, THIEF, and MASTERMIND. If the situation is for your primary profession, this will be a D10. If it is your secondary, a D8. If it is your worst, a D4. Otherwise, a D6.

ROCKWALL, CHAD: A mid-level security officer for Con-Glam. Also serves as one of their 'enforcers', when Con-Glam wants to apply physical duress. Rockwall has access to the floor where the Dark Files are stored but not the actual storage room. (specific to: The Face Mask Job)

STRENGTH: The ATTRIBUTE defining how good someone is at using brute force in a confrontation. When talking, this is someone who charges in and refuses to take no for an answer, whenever possible putting the person they are speaking on the defensive.

THIEF: The PROFESSION of someone who can get anywhere and take anything.

TRAIT: Something that marks a character is unique. Depending on the situation can be bad for a roll (D4) or good (D8). Example: 'Alcoholic' would be a trait that normally would roll a D4 but would be a D8 when the character is trying to socialize in a bar or is pretending to be drunk when he's not. Note that for a trait, the situation is what determines if it's good or bad for that situation; a trait can never be always good nor always bad.

VERSATILE: A person with this build divides their six attributes so that one attribute is great (D10), a different attribute is only average (D6), and the remaining four are all good (D8).

VITALITY: The ATTRIBUTE representing health and fitness. Running up several flights of stairs or working in a cold room would require high Vitality. In a conversation, high vitality means enthusiasm (real of fake) for the discussion matter and keeping the listener engaged with the speaker.

WILLPOWER: The ATTRIBUTE of a person's self-esteem and determination. A person with high willpower can succeed on prolonged tasks or continue a conversation until the person they are talking to will agree to just about anything to end the conversation.

   From the files of Chaos

Recruit Name: Northmoore, Josephine AKA Jo, Honest Jo

Picture: Yummy

Distinctive Characteristic: Powered by Confidence (Becomes more charming when she thinks things are going well, but becomes desperate when things go badly.)

Reason for hating Con-Glam-O-Rate: Con-Glam purchased her family's business, promising to keep the company running and paying a percentage of the profits to Jo's family. Instead, they raided the assets and had the business declare bankruptcy. Jo's parents died soon afterwards and their only daughter was forced to find less-then-legal ways to survive. While she's not obsessed with revenge, Jo will still likely be eager in helping to take Con-Glam down a peg or two.

Reason for recruiting: Jo's a competent grifter and thief. She's not in Sophie's or Parker's League, but she'll do fine for what I have in mind.

Special Talent: Wanna Buy a Watch? (You’re good at crude, street-level cons. Inelegant, but petty criminals pull this stuff for a reason — it works. When running a basic scam on an allegedly sophisticated and savvy mark (false-injury, 3-card-monte, pig-in-a-poke type cons) roll an extra D6. If it is in a street setting, roll a D8 instead of a D6.)

Recruit Name: Johnson, Kevin AKA Mikhail / Misha

Description:6'4" with a muscular build, African American skin tone, blue eyes, and black hair.

Distinctive Characteristic: Thug at Heart (When it comes to more dirty methods of interrogation or combat in general, Kevin is amazing, but isn't good at "playing nice." This often leads to some yelling whenever he has to squeeze out some information.)

Reason for hating Con-Glam-O-Rate: Works for a security guard agency that does the lobby security for Con-Glam, gets paid practically peanuts because all the 'real security' is done by a Con-Glam-O-Rate in-house service for the upper floors. Has been denied several times when he has applied to Con-Glam security. His mother's current boyfriend (see file: Chad Rockwall) has refused to help Kevin, even though Chad does work for Con-Glam security.

Reason for recruiting: Kevin can serve as the first step to getting toward Chad.

Special Talent: Put That Gun Away (If a person is threatening you with a gun, you may spend a plot point. The gun the person is carrying is knocked out of her/his grip when you attack.))

Recruit Name: Adamos, Gordon aka Doctor Adamos, Doc

Description: Skinny Toothpick but dangerous.

Distinctive Characteristic:Bedside Manner;(Dr. Adamos can't stand seeing someone in pain and not try to do something about it. The plus side is that when he does see a way to do something, he's practically unstoppable. )

Reason for hating Con-Glam-O-Rate: Phobos Pharmaceuticals, the company that arranged for Doctor Adamos to lose his medical license, is the branch of Con-Glam-O-Rate that handles their medical assets. In addition to barring Doctor Adamos from being able to legally help people, Gordon Adamos has documented dozens of cases where Phobos Pharmaceuticals and their holding company, Con-Glam-O-Rate, have made money off of other peoples' suffering.

Reason for recruiting: Doctor Adamos was planning his own run against Phobos Pharmaceuticals when the current situation showed up on Leverage International's radar. It's a case of we either need to recruit him or deal with him as a wild card.

Special Talent: Sea of Calm ''(If the Fixer announces a complication for a player character you are in contact with, verbally or electronically, you can spend a plot point to nullify that complication for the duration of the scene.))
