Yes, I know that this site has a "Your Work But Our Article" rule, but hear me out:

About ten or so years ago, I added an article for my fanfiction The Servants of Ungoliant, a story which I have since deleted from the internet, along with almost every reference to it. I've grown really ashamed of writing that story and especially adding that article, and I'd prefer that as many references to it are removed from the internet as possible. I want to put it all behind me so I can move on with my life.

Not just the Fanfiction page, but also everything else related to it (YMMV, etc.)

Edit: Never mind. I'll try the Cut List.

Yes, I'm aware of those other things, though they're mostly minor and forgotten so I'm not that worried about them. I'll get to the rest as soon as I can. I just want the article and related pages gone. Please don't be rude about it.

Here's a link for advice on removing pages from the wayback machine. You'll need to own the relevant domain and submit a takedown notice, as per the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998.

We do remove articles for works that disappear from the internet (because works need to be verifiable, not notable), but the first draft remains fairly intact.

Please do not even request that we cut a page on your work.

I managed to get a page for my work cut once, but it was Unpublished and all my drafts were lost with my old computer, so it legit didn't exist anywhere anyway.

The issue is, while the mods are pretty understanding about that a work may no longer exist in any form, they won't cut it until then, as if it exists it can be troped.

But it's a page I added myself. Surely it can be okay for me to remove a page that I'm responsible for putting on this site in the first place.

I'm not worried about the other stuff because it's mostly minor and forgotten things that don't really concern me and/or that I can easily take care of.

I'm only worried about the article and related pages. If those were gone, I'd be enormously relieved and happy.

^ Er, nope, sorry; you don't own any of the content you post here. Once it's here, it belongs to the wiki.

I fail to understand why there has to be such a hassle over it. I'm not saying that I want it gone because people don't like it. It's not necessarily a bad story, I'm just not happy with how I originally wrote it as I was really inexperienced as a writer back then (I was still in high school after all). But I definitely wish I never brought it to this site. I should've waited until it got more attention before even considering adding it.

It's only a "hassle" because the page is the property of the wiki's, so you need a strong reason for cutting it if the page is in decent shape and the work still exists in some form. That's all. Concerns about things like ownership and is misguided, as nobody owns any pages on the wiki.

Okay, thanks anyway. If the site won't let me do anything about deleting the page, then I'll just leave it be...for now.
