To start with, this is an AU Idea I've recently had, and am excited to find ways to work with it.

A long time ago, in a Galaxy far, far away...

The Unified Galactic Republic is in a period of rare peace between three groups that comprise its senate and membership in the current times...

The Astalian Front, helmed by the distant world of Astalia, formerly known as the seat of an old Sith Empire, which looks to shed the darkness of its history. Comprises. Comprised of numerous wealthy planets...along with the Outer Rim.

The Order of Memnus, helmed by a long line of Force Sensitive rulers, instrumental in halting the Old Sith Empire of Astalia. Their ruling family's children traditionally attend the Jedi Academy.

And the Alliance of Duskenth, a collective of trade worlds which had aligned in the olden days with Astalia before revolting as the war headed to its end.

In order to foster peaceful relations between the next generations, these Republic factions send their Force Sensitive teenage scions to the new Jedi Academy on the world of Muldrafar.

However even as the barges head to their destination, movement begins in the shadows of old empires...

And here we are. The center for this RP is going to be at least at the start the original generation World of Muldrafar, which will be home to the Jedi Academy the students will be attending.

The current Jedi Order is helmed by Jedi Grandmaster Owen Schale, who has helmed a significant modernization effort that a certain number of more conservative Jedi resent. As a result, the Jedi are currently a deal less strict about the Code.

The Academy on Muldrafar is one of the largest and most ornate, and it has a most interesting history students might want to look into. The history of Muldrafar in general is a deal less squeaky clean than most guides paint it.

The ruling family on Astalia are the Araden Family. According to history, during the old war, the Sith Lord Darth Quies had chosen someone from the Aradens to be his apprentice, later known as Darth Vistor. Toward the end of the war, Darth Vistor betrayed Quies for unknown reasons and then fled.

The ruling family of the Memnus Order is currently the Calliss Family. The Memnus Order select their heads of office based on a number of rigorous tests, and the ruling family then is handed the mandate for ten years, whereupon the test is applied again. A Jedi from the Memnus Order was responsible for defeating the Sith Forces of the Old Empire.

And the ruling family of Duskenth currently is the Keldrin Family, the currently most powerful family in Duskenth. Rulership is decided in Duskenth based on power, prestige, and wealth, all of which the Keldrins have in resplendent amount.

Now, as for the sign ups...

The World's Least Powerful Man

  • Name: Avalon Caul
  • Age: 17
  • Allegiance: Memnus Order
  • Family: N/A
  • Race: Human
  • World of Origin: Allista
  • Appearance: A tall boy with brown eyes and black hair. Bronze skin.
  • Personality: A brash, impulsive and emotional young man, I have trouble embracing the constant serenity of orthodox Jedi teachings. Since all sapient beings (save perhaps droids) have and feel emotions, they shouldn't be discounted or discarded. What "No Emotion, only Peace" truly means is that one rules their emotions, rather than emotions ruling you.
  • Backstory: Initiated into the Jedi order at 2, I grew up listening to the legend of the Knight of Allista. While it may only be a story intended to inspire people, I always looked up to them. While wars may not make one great, the honour and nobility in the face of its horrors was something to cherish and aspire to. While I may struggle to keep my emotions in check, particularly anger, I aspire to serve my people as a Jedi Knight. When Master Liva took me on as Padawan when I came of age, she told me it was to help control my emotions. Anger is not always a negative thing. Anger indicates that you perceive an injustice. Wrath, where anger is allowed to dictate action, is the true evil.
  • Force Powers:
    • Telekenesis: Able to manipulate objects at a distance. The size of an object is not a problem, however, I lack the patience to deal with small objects.
    • Empathy: Since emotions are so central to my and my masters interpretation of the code, I can see the surface thoughts of a person and attune my and their emotions.
  • Force Leaning: Light
  • Other / Miscellaneous: Prone to high emotion, especially anger. It is a struggle to maintain composure when stressed. Some Jedi may also consider my interpretation of the code to be heresy.

Incidentally, what system are we using?

This'll be a standard freeform RP, and I'll be guiding the story along as GM...but there are a number of places where the players choices drastically alter the way things go from the overarching story plan.

You're not going to feel like a hostage just going along on a train in this. And every single decisive moment changes the way everything else down the line develops.

And you might be surprised by what has lasting, long term effects. Even going as far as sparing one particular droid could well influence the way things develop.

As far as the story, I took some influence from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, so keep that in mind - do not expect a singular unified route where everybody is together on the same side.

Characters are going to fight.

  • Name: Oeya Claži (Oeyac'laži)
  • Age: 17
  • Allegiance: Duskenth Alliance (this may be subject to change)
  • Family: Laži
  • Race: Twi'lek
  • World of Origin: Ryloth
  • Appearance: 5'6". Wears the light, airy clothing akin to robes and wraps typical to her clan, albeit adjusted slightly to be more universally suitable. Possesses a vestigial third lek; tucked beneath and between her two larger lekku.
  • Personality: An open, kindhearted and empathetic individual with a near-perpetual serenity and an intense fascination with other people. Oeya is relatively laidback by nature and patient almost to a fault, willing to set aside her own time for the sake of others in need to the point where she may end up neglecting some of her duties in favour of assisting people who approach her (yet eager also to just provide sage advice when asked). Oeya is also organized and pragmatic, quick to figure things out rationally and act as efficiently as possible in dispelling conflicts. Ultimately Oeya is more mature in her thinking than would usually be expected for her age and focuses this towards acts of selflessness, though her regular focus on other people often means she ends up neglecting her own feelings; which means she can find herself suddenly overwhelmed by strong emotions that she hadn't even realised had been building up in her. Still, she's an optimist by nature and hopes for the best in people—even if she resigns herself to the fact that she'll have to eventually cut down the irredeemable, she whispers apologies and prayers on their behalf in hopes that she won't let herself become desensitized to any form of death.
  • Backstory: Born on Ryloth to the Laži clan, Oeya was raised primarily amongst nature and was encouraged to attune herself to her environment from a very early age—of which her proficiency soon indicated that she was in fact highly attuned to the Force. With Ryloth still recovering from the reign of the old Astalian Sith Empire, there were little other organized Force-users or Jedi on the planet available for Oeya to pursue tutelage from. Encouraged by her clan to venture offworld and further develop her connection to the Force, Oeya has for the first time left her home planet with the intention of attending the Jedi Academy on Muldrafar, ignorant insofar as to its history and eager to broaden her perspective of the universe and the numerous people who reside within it. Though missing her clan and her immediate family, Oeya is most definitely inclined towards becoming a Jedi and following a lifestyle of a peacemaker, but her current naïveté is something she'll have to be wary of if she doesn't want to find herself drawn into the wrong crowd.
  • Force Powers: Oeya naturally possesses the core telekinetic abilities of many other Force-sensitives (specifically of a more precise variation with smaller items as opposed to manipulating objects several times her size), however in terms of raw specialization her abilities are much more inclined towards Force-sensing. Such abilities are as follows:
    • Shatterpoint: The ability to perceive "fault-lines" through the Force, which allows Oeya to effectively shatter certain objects, parts of walls and buildings, or even on occasion parts of living creatures. These weak spots need to be felt out through the Force before Oeya can apply pressure to them, and she usually gets a more accurate reading if she is able to physically run her hands across the thing in question she is attempting to shatter. The destructive capability of this power is one she prefers to keep held back, and as such she rarely uses them on other living creatures (and would never even think of using them on fellow sapient beings)—primarily using it to get past certain obstacles or for discreetly sabotaging her opponents' weapons or gear while battling them to gain the upper hand.
    • Commune: Given her preferred lifestyle, Oeya is capable of strongly melding to various forms of animal life, able to sense the intricacies of their emotions and ascertain their intentions in a limited form of communication. This empathic ability extends also to sapient life, but to a lesser extent—with further training she may be able to connect fully with her fellows using the force. As of now, it is useful for quickly bonding with otherwise dangerous or wary creatures and guessing the hidden intentions or feelings of those around her (though it's noted to become overwhelming and "fuzzy" to her when she's caught in the middle of a crowd).
    • Force Healing: By transferring some of her vital lifeforce, Oeya is able to close small wounds either on herself or through physical contact with others. Due to the intimacy of this ability to her stamina and spirit, it is risky for her to even attempt to heal major wounds, and is completely unable to affect anything deeper than flesh-level. Regardless, it is useful for quickly stopping someone from bleeding out, and her ability to focus it onto certain parts of herself (which again requires contact from her hand to the specific area) means she can keep herself going for a little while longer than she would without it.
  • Force Leaning: Light
  • Other / Miscellaneous: The Laži clan are noted to have produced several Force-sensitives in the past, but they are relatively few and far between. Oeya's natural affinity towards the Shatterpoint technique is a notably new development for the clan, though she lacks the might in more conventional Force techniques as a result; she seems to be mostly skilled in applications of the Force more focused on precision and sensory techniques.

Nixer, you're accepted.

Dvorak, you need to put in some more detail. Like, a lot more detail than just "Brash."

So just to be clear, all characters are necessarily jedi/force sensitive?

Not necessarily - I could see openings for like people who are attendants, or guards sworn to protect someone from the three families.

They're present at the Academy because of their obligations.

  • Name: Ka'aran Araden
  • Age: 17
  • Allegiance: The Asatalian Front
  • Family: Eldest child of the Aradan family
  • Race: Human
  • World of Origin: Asatalia
  • Appearance: I'm currently working on it.
  • Personality: An incredibly distrusting individual, Ka has developed multiple mental walls to protect himself from the grim reality of life as a noble. As such, though he may seem happy or tell certain people things that wouldn't tell others, he probably doesn't trust you. Almost unnaturally calm all the time, Ka'aran lives a life of extreme caution and is very good at hiding it. He will usually be at the back of most conversations, trying to read the expressions and body language of other people before deciding what to say.
  • Backstory: Growing up during times of conflict, Ka'aran has seen his fair share of evil in the world. At eleven years old he was thrusted into the cutthroat world of nobility with the assassination of his youngest aunt, who was like a sister to him. Being the eldest child put a huge target on his back, so at the age of thirteen, he was forced to begin training in combat, battle tactics, and to hone in on his natural ability for the force. A recent assassination attempt on him at his 17th birthday spurred his going to the Jedi academy even further, as his home was no longer safe for him to stay at.
  • Force Powers: Ka has an acute mastery of the basic telekinetic aspects of the force, not having the same trouble with small things that most other Padawan struggle with.
    • Spark: Ka'aran can produce sparks by snapping his fingers. This technique is currently rather useless, but can evolve into the much more powerful force lightning. It does have applicable uses, however, able to start fires and not requiring much concentration to use.
    • Force Push: Being one of the more common techniques, the Force Push allows Ka to send a small concussive blast directly in front of him, in a straight line for at most 10 feet.
  • Force Leaning: Dark

Uhh, I probably should've mentioned considering things, I'd thought that the Araden family would be human. In part owing to the main Star Wars Galactic Empire references to come in the Old Sith Empire.
