"It looks like the one mama wears to murder people!"
NVM, wrong thread.

Disgusted, but not surprisedThis chapter was basically "Endo made the previous two chapters and then thought of a couple funny scenes for a time period that was skipped over." But they were funny, and Anya giving up learning to dance with Damian before the dance makes an amusing contrast with where it lead. Still think they would have been better chronologically, and wouldn't be surprised if the anime makes them that way...
You know, just going to say, if I were a gambling man, I'd be willing to put money on Donovan being a near-literal puppet for someone else. He hardly ever speaks, hardly ever goes out in public, suddenly started neglecting his kids one day when he didn't before, seems to have a lobotomy scar...
As for who's pulling the strings, my money's on the ever-enigmatic Leonardo Hapoon, with his scientist cabal and his habit of popping up everywhere. I've heard some pretty good arguments for Melinda or Mr. Blackbell being the real mastermind, too.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."It has updated with a short chapter on Bond, which ends up with him with the penguin with fish to please...
Unless I can pay to read manga, I just get to the last episode available and the anime is really awesome and it looks that it takes page by page of the manga with good effort!!
So, the only thing left is to watch Code White and wait until fall to get into the next episodes... anyway there is a lot of anime in the internet!!!
What I like about the Mr. Blackbell possibility is that if it turns out to be correct, Anya will have befriended the actual right kid by complete accident.

Blackbell seems too much of a bumbling dad.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"The argument in favor of Blackbell is that, as a major weapons manufacturer, heβd benefit more than anyone from a second war, since no matter who won, heβd still profit.
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."It does miss that the Military Industrial Complex profits best from the threat of war rather than an actual war.
Not saying Becky's dad is out of the running, rather that if the goal is total civil war there needs to be another reason at play.
Yeah, in an actual war the MIC is forced to produce actual viable product and lots of it. Sometimes even at a loss.
Not to mention actual war fucks up the global economy, and that affects the MIC as much as it does anyone else.

Disgusted, but not surprisedA war profiteer tends to profit best when he's far away from the front I feel.
Secret SignatureCode White was a fun film!
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"It was! I saw it a few hours ago, myself. Highly recommend!
Did you have a favorite part? Mine was probably how Yor beat Type F!
GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsJust saw Code: WHITE and really enjoyed it! It featured most of the parts I love most about Spy X Family, so I'm so glad for it!
Also, Yor's Battle IQ in this was so great!

Improving as an author, one video at a time. So, over here the movie comes out this next thursday, and I have been avoiding spoilers as much as possible. Yesteday, a friend mentioned he might want to go watched it, but he hasn't checked the anime or the manga yet. So I ask those who have already watched it (without spoilers preferably):
- How accessible is the movie for a complete newcomer to the series?
- Could someone like that competely understand the movie by itself, or would it require a brief axplanation about characters and setting, or would they be completely lost?
They do explain each member of the family's role in the beginning of the movie, while also demonstrating their abilities, and they also explain about Stellas and the social gathering and Desmond and pretty much everything you need to know, so I don't think it would be too difficult for anyone unfamiliar with the series to understand. But you might get annoying questions typical of people who don't understand that it's a comedy, like why Yor isn't an uber-serious femme fatale if she's supposed to be some kind of hyper-competent assassin.
GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsThe opening narration explains the important bits of the premise. It's pretty accessible for first timers.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Overall I liked it but thought the potty humor sequence went way too long.
You know what strikes me the most is we really don't get any details of what the Evil Plan is, exactly. We have no idea what the microfilm has on it, or how it would spark a war, or even what the Big Bad is actually going to do with it. Also, why is he flying a massive warship to the city of what is apparently a neighboring country? Is he going to attack the city? How would that cause a war between the East and West? Is he going to plant that tiny little plastic square of microfilm in the smoking ruins, or something?

Hey is this the first time Yor kill someone outside her job as an assassin?
Edited by Cortez on Apr 20th 2024 at 11:22:00 AM
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Nope! We see in a flashback at one point that as a child, she killed some Bad Dudes (soldiers during the war, IIRC) who were after her and her young friends, which was how an agent of Garden (McMahon, the City Hall Director, I think) found her and recruited her.

GM of AGOG S4: Frontiers RP; Sub-GM of TABA, SOTR, & UUA RPsThank you for answering, Cortez and darksidevoid.
The comedy angle shouldn't be an issue by just mentioning it before the movie. Also, the group seems to be getting bigger, since the buddy mentioned he might invite his girlfriend if the movie really is "beginner-friendly", but asked me if I could find out something else:
Is the fan-service and/or violence excessive at any point (for a person that doesn't watch a lot of anime)? I told him the series isn't like that (ok, things can get bloody with Yor), but he insisted.
I don't recall there being any sex-related fanservice in the entire movie, just the main characters doing cool stuff that makes you cheer for them. There's some blood toward the beginning where they explain Yor's assassin job, but that's all I recall as far as blood. The two main goons featured in the previews do get beat up several times, but never to the level of being beaten to a bloody pulp. One guy does get held in a standing chokehold and you hear a crack as he passes out, but IMO it's debatable if he's dead of a cracked neck or just unconscious. There's also one death by fire, but I don't recall the aftermath of the body being shown. The most distasteful part of the movie was the amount of toilet humor, but at the very least those parts are well-animated and not graphic.

Pfft, turns out Anya chose the black dress because Becky told her to "knock Damian dead" and so she picked the one that looked most similar to Yor's assassin outfit.
