Admittedly, in the Star Wars universe those two terms are pretty interchangeable.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Bounty hunters are sometimes also doing mercenary work (for example, the main character being hired for a prison break job is technically not bounty work), but not every merc is also a bounty hunter.
Meanwhile, I'm wondering if the second season will reveal who the person who came up to Fennec Shand's body was.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I thought that was Gideon, since they had a cape.
Gideon doesn't have spurs (which you can hear in that episode).
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. It was amusing how a big chunk of the internet immediately jumped to the assumption that it was Boba, despite it looking nothingl ike Boba.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Mainly because of the aforementioned spur sound (we also don't really get a proper look at the person at all).
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Boba also doesn't have a cape that long.
My guess at the time was (and still kind of is) Cad Bane. The flowing leather coat and boots are just like his style. The spurs are the only things off.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Could be a possibility. Originally, he was supposed to be killed by Boba Fett in a duel in a later season of Clone Wars, but that ended up never happening due to the cancellation and he's not gonna show up in the revival, as far as I'm aware.
I suspect the spurs might be a homage to Boba Fett. They do sneak these little things into the series now and then.
Heck, they referenced the Holiday Special once or twice and I'm pretty sure that usually summons George Lucas to your home with a knife.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Not a knife- a sledgehammer. :P
but HOW?So what's the timeline of this series again?
Sometime after the events of the original trilogy, but before the Sequel Trilogy right?
One Strip! One Strip!Supposedly about five years after ROTJ, where the Empire is still collapsing and the New Republic has established a strong political foothold.
So not too long for the Rebel cast.
Then again, we know Sabine is apparently showing up, so no shock there.
As I recall, the Sequel Trilogy is at least 15-20 years after ROTJ isn't it?
Maybe longer considering how old Luke, Leia and Han are by that time.
One Strip! One Strip! It’s only rumored Sabine will show up, hence the theories about her being played by Sasha Banks
Well, we know Ahsoka is showing up, we're assuming Sabine is showing up. Though the fact that the spoiled actress was announced without a character attached, while Ahsoka was announced with an actor attached, leads me to believe that they would have told us if she was playing Sabine. She's probably playing some new character, and we wouldn't care about her name yet.
The Sequel Trilogy is actually thirty years after ROTJ.
I maintain that anyone who goes into the second season going, "Ahsoka is going to be there! That means Sabine will too!" is setting themselves up for disappointment.
There is no reason beyond sheer wishful thinking to assume that Sabine's going to appear.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.I mean, that's what speculation is. If someone wants to hope for that, there's no shame in it.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. That's true, but the Star Wars fandom has a bad habit of convincing itself something is going to happen, and then throwing a wobbly when it doesn't.
And this is why one should never get involved with or identify with fandoms.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Seriously. I'm a Star Wars fan, but I'm not a Star Wars fan.
Not all speculations are equal, anyway. Some have more basis then others.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Favreau may have already started on writing season 3 for a while now[1]
Sabine is not glued to Ahsoka, so she might as well not appear.
Also, I'm almost sure that the Ahsoka episode will be a poorly disguised Pilot, so they probably want to save the 28/30-year-old Sabine for the Ahsoka series.
Here's the thing - when you say "amateur bounty hunter", pretty much everyone's first character to think of is Toro.
Mayfeld and the others are mercenaries, if I recall correctly, not bounty hunters.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.
