Tropes been around since at least 2011. And had 38 edits in that time. So that indicates Not Thriving.

Basically, most of the decent examples are much better Vacation, Dear Boy.

Honestly, between the fact that the only example that actually fits the description of "creator is upset at network, thus blows money to spite them" is the (incredibly poor) page picture, I suspect this is a trope made solely for the Conan O'Brien example.

The description makes it incredibly clear that it's about enmity between the creator and the network/execs. Well, except for the final part in the description about "Blue Harvest" that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the trope at hand (and was incidentally unilaterally added in 2012). But other than the Conan example and the apocryphal Doctor Who example, none of them show any malice and instead are primarily just Vacation, Dear Boy.
