Yeah, that's a really misleading title, plus several of the examples are ZC Es, just from the glance I took at the page.
It's only wicked on 100 pages, so a wick check will be pretty easy, as would a name change.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessAfter some thinking, my suggestion is to rename the trope to “Submarine Battles Are Always Underwater” or something to that effect.
(If the people who create these threads can’t suggest a new name, ignore this post.)
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”Looks like Hot Skitty-on-Wailord Action but with submarines just by the name. This is why Everything's Worse with Snowclones.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!I'd like to see a wick check before even considering a rename.
Going by the example section, it doesn't appear to be misleading at all.
That doesn’t change the fact that the trope name is bad and misleading, though.
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”Is it actually misleading? I checked a few of the off-page examples and found no evidence that people think this is a sex trope.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. It might be leading to underuse, though.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand!Perhaps. 100 wicks isn't a lot for something that's been around for over a decade.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.I’ll be sticking with my decision to rename it for now, unless anyone has another argument.
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”I'd still like to see a wick check to prove that the title is actually misleading. Please take a look at How to Do a Wick Check.
I have a valid question, though: Epic Ship-on-Ship Action and Epic Tank-on-Tank Action exist, and in fact actually link to this trope, so why isn’t it just called Epic Sub-on-Sub Action? What about the trope makes it so necessary to have “hot” instead of “epic”?
“Now! Let us engage in the art of deduction!”I looked at every Literature/ wick out of boredom, and all of them were about submarine battles. I found no signs of the name being misleading.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. Also, I find the count of wicks to be unsurprising, as there aren't that many works that feature submarine battles.
There seems to be no issue of misuse, and therefore no evidence to support a claim that the name is misleading. I will close the topic.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"
The trope is about submarines, but the name makes it sound like two submissive types..... er...... doing the nasty with eachother. It should probably be renamed to something that makes the submarine aspect more clear.
