Have anyone ever had to study or grew up with Elsie Dinsmore?

As problematic as it is, I'm finding myself un-ironically enjoying the books. Especially since I can relate a bit to Elsie being bullied.

Hooooo boy. I read the first book on Project Gutenberg and the Life of Faith version, and I think this is the second worst book I've ever read. Good lord, there is so much wrong with it it makes me want to bang my head against the wall! It's preachy as all hell, the entire cast of characters are all annoying, mean-spirited jerkish, or mind-numbingly stupid (Looking at you, Horace Jr!), completely lacking in depth, the writing is childish and condescending to the point of leaning into Black-and-White Morality, and the whole thing is full of stupid! I can name so many children's books that are so much better. Oh, and I wanted to kick Horace in the ballsack every time he opened his mouth.
