If that's an established term, then I think it would be acceptable for TV tropes.
I'd like to suggest either 3D/2D Hybrid Animation or 2D/3D Hybird Animation as an alternative to that, since it explicitly mentions what's being hybridized.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Should I make an alt names crowner?

Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project! Is "The Guitar's Serenade" scene in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, otherwise a 2D Visual Novel, an example?
Keet cleanupNo, that looks like just an FMV stuck in the middle of the game.
Video games typically do not do Hybrid Animation. There would be a related trope where Video game characters are inserted into FMV backgrounds like what Square did in Final Fantasy VIII or Parasite Eve 2 but the advent of the PS 2 era this all stopped.
I think the non-GBA Ace Attorney games would fit better under Sprite/Polygon Mix, aside from that scene, which (as previously mentioned) is an FMV in an otherwise mostly 2D game.
Maybe we could put something like "Compare Sprite/Polygon Mix, which is when a video game combines 2D and 3D graphics" in the description of this trope.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Since the consensus included a rename, I made an Alternative Titles crowner. I combed the thread and added every option I could find.
Edit: I accidentally added one option twice, sorry. I corrected that.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Since it's going to specifically be 3D-in-2D, maybe Three D In Two D Hybrid Animation could be added as an option?
I added it.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. Was it added as Two D In Three D Hybrid Animation? I see there's a thumb up on it, so I want to be sure that the reverse order of the words was a mistake and that the thumbs up was yours before editing it to Three D In Two D Hybrid Animation.
Okay, thanks!

Yes, sorry. I misread your post. I added the correction separately, but I don't have a problem with the mistake being removed (like the duplicate I ended up adding while going through the thread's previous suggestions).
Edit: I went ahead and used potholes to edit the displayed text (changing Three D and Two D to 3D and 2D, and adding punctuation when necessary) for the sake of readability.
Edit: I went ahead and removed the mistake (at least to the extent that I could). I think the mistake I added was inaccurate (as in, the name that was actually suggested describes the trope better), but I won't object if someone restores it.

Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Hooked.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe whole "3D Effects, 2D Cartoon", can be reversed I wouldn't rec using it.
Nothing really states that it has to be a 2D Cartoon with 3D effects. You can have a primarily 3D cartoon with some character models be 2d, animes tend to do this as the 2D style looks more normal for normal people.
Frame Arms Girls for example is more CG than 2D with 2 opening animations produced, one being CG the other "anime" aka 2D.

The vote count is still kind of low. Bumping for votes.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Closing crowner due to failed consensus after many months. So, what should we do now?
Should we do a runoff crowner?

she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportDo we have consensus?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessEleven votes for, zero against, passes the minimum of ten votes. Looks like consensus to me.
Though this is a large trope (1744 wicks), so if we want to wait for a bit more votes that might not be a bad idea.
Technically, nothing's stopping us from weeding out certainly bad wicks now.

I'll take care of the Obvious redirect.

Crown Description:
Obvious and Noticeable means its a blending failure, which is still bad.
Hybrid Animation is the correct industry term for it.
