This is adorable.
This behind the scenes article has some spoilers about Doctor Sivana.
Basically, instead of being a mad scientist, Sivana was offered the power of Shazam when he was a kid, but was tempted instead to take the Eye of Sin and now has the Seven Deadly Sins in his eye. He wants to get the power of Shazam, too, so he can control both good and evil.
I take it this is not a sequel to that movie where Shaquille O'Neal was a genie.
It’s actually a Stealth Sequel.
The Wizard is really Shaquille as a tiny-ass old man.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Okay, I'll be honest, I don't like the sound of that. That doesn't sound like Dr. Sivana at all.
Presumably, by the end of the movie, he will be classic Sivana. They are just going with the New 52 route.
So are the other foster siblings going to be in this, or just Billy and Freddy?
All the foster siblings are going to be in it.
Reboot Shazam (the wizard) is Australian Aboriginal, right? Is the actor in the movie the same? The trailer doesn't give a very good look at him. Would be cool if so; very underrepresented demographic.
The wizard, IIRC, is played by Djimon Hounsou.
Also known as "the most wasted actor in the MCU."
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them.I'm not sure, but I suspect not. He's being played by Djimon Honsou, who was born in Benin.
by the above poster. But Honsou will also be in Captain Marvel, so he isn't being wasted quite so much in the MCU.

No, its Djimon Hounsou, from the Republic of Benin.
Weirdly, he was also in Aquaman, and I do wonder if theyre going to make a joke about that. He's also going to be reprising his role from Guardians of the Galaxy in Captain Marvel.

I thought Shaq was Kazaam
I read the junior novel, and it sounds fun. Except that it ended before the actual ending! Of course, the hero will defeat the villain, but there seems to be a spoiler they are hiding. I bet the other kids also get super powers.
Do we know for sure that this movie takes place in the DCEU? They were kinda flirting with putting it in its own continuity. I hope they don't—the DCEU could sure use another shot of levity and life. Aquaman did wonders for it.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Excellent.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Are you sure you aren't confusing it with Joker?
I not a comicbook reader. My first exposure to Shazam was in Justice League Unlimited but i like a idealistic hero to standout from the gritty serious DCEU. It was suppose to be Superman, but as you see....
E.T technically is a Isekai movieMarvel has a talking tree and a talking racoon. Is DC brave enough to pull off a talking Tiger in a nice suit?
Jim Lee drew The Big Red Cheese as he appears in the movie, and Zachary Levi couldn't be happier about it!
Trailer #2
This movie looks better the more I see of it. I know the kid with powers is really popular to deconstruct, but this feels like a reconstruction.
I searched for one and realized that we really don't have a thread for Shazam!. We've been discussing it in the Justice League thread instead, I guess, but since the movie now comes out in three months, I figure it needs its own thread.
Incredibly fun new teaser trailer:
I believe I saw the Seven Deadly Sins in there, which is neat.
Also, rumor has it we will be getting a longer trailer on Tuesday.
