Very relatable. I haven't troped any of my fics (yet), but I do struggle a lot with impostor syndrome. But as Caivu said, there isn't a problem with it. The "fan works" category is there for a reason, and it's often a bit barren for main page tropes. I've used it before to find fics to read.
I might make a trope page for the ASOIAF fic I'm writing, when I've published some more chapters for it.
I think I understand where my thoughts that my fic has to be noteworthy before I can add it to main pages came from.
Because your fics do have to get two recommendations from other people to get them up on the fic recs page of the source material.
Um...you dont need two people. They just have to be proven to not have written the fic and that the writer didnt make them put it there.
Discord: Waido X 255#1372 If you cant contact me on TV Tropes do it here.Guess the rules changed. That's what it was last time I paid attention. Still, the point stands that you can't make the recommendation yourself and therefore you need at least one person who thinks it's worthwhile.
Personally I would never make a page for my own fanfics. It's a greater accomplishment if a fan or fans of mine thought my work was good enough for them to do the initiative.
Are we allowed to make trope pages for fics that are still a work in progress? There's a fic that has five chapters up so far on Archive Of Our Own but it's a WIP too. Wasn't sure if I should make a thread for it, so I might as well ask the question here instead since it might also be relevant for Tropers wanting to make pages for their own fics that are WIP
Lover of anime, video games, old-school Rock & Roll music, yaoi, horror, motorcycles, classic cars, trains, and historical fictionYes, sure, there are lots of pages for in-progress fics. The Raven's Plan, Bastard, etc. etc.
Thanks

Lover of anime, video games, old-school Rock & Roll music, yaoi, horror, motorcycles, classic cars, trains, and historical fictionI'd agree with Very Melon.
IMHO, it can make you feel entitled.
"Exit muna si Polgas. Ang kailangan dito ay si Dobermaxx!"Would any fellow tropers help me out with the trope page for Dark Hearts? I did create the page for my own fic, but only because it's a work in progress that got started a month ago. I made sure not to create a YMMV page or anything like that

Lover of anime, video games, old-school Rock & Roll music, yaoi, horror, motorcycles, classic cars, trains, and historical fictionHi Ninja Goth. Got some feedback on your Dark Hearts page, if that's okay.
-several of your Trope entries are ZCEs, and you need to flesh out the descriptions. I pretend the trope word isn't there when I write them on my own fic's Works Page. You also have to pretend you're a stranger who knows nothing about your story, and it has to clearly explain stuff. That goes, for example, for your Massive Multiplayer Crossover entry; I'm pretty sure I know Lionel Hutz is from The Simpsons, but I've never heard of Sebastian Michaelis, and the connections should be clear.
-I'm not sure you can act as Word of God for your own work. Check on that. You may have to have a reference you can cite saying this.
-am thinking you should put periods at the ends of entries.
-words like "ostensibly" are Word Cruft or Weasel Words.
-you have some run-on sentences in the examples and a few awkward wordings.
There might be other things, but that'll get you started. Feel free to PM me. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback and constructive criticism.
I figured Word of God would work since it's in the fanfic tags but you probably have a point and I'll remove that entry and I really should clean up the trope page. I'm a bit of a newbie, to be honest.

Lover of anime, video games, old-school Rock & Roll music, yaoi, horror, motorcycles, classic cars, trains, and historical fictionOh, no problem. I've only been around for ca. five months, so I'm relatively new here myself. Some helpful tropers helped me with my Works Page, both at first and again recently. This kind of stuff is a work-in-progress as I can say from experience. Let me know if you want me to take another look once you've done the fixes. PM is fine.

Hello, I want to create a page for my fanfic and I read the guides, but I'm still very confused...I'm trying to get a sense of things but I don't even know where to start. Help??
Hiya, Eirene 29! I'm a bit late to the conversation, but I think I've got some tips:
- You can start off by going to the Wiki Sandbox and creating a Red Link for your page, and then edit the tropes page when you feel like creating it.
- Either you can start off with a general summary of your fanfic and leave it at that initially (if you aren't sure about adding tropes yet) or you can start a draft for your page in a Google Docs or something, and then only create the tropes page when you feel your draft is ready for posting.
- Not sure if this will help you out in any way, but I tend to gather the tropes I need to add by browsing the trope pages of other works I know. It's probably a good idea if you aren't acquainted with a majority of tropes on this site like I am. Alternatively, you can always head to the Trope Finder and ask if certain aspects of your fic lend themselves to a trope!
I'm quite new myself, but I hope this can help you out! You can also DM me or anyone else here if you have any further questions.
God has cursed me for my hubris and my work is never finished.I've been adding more tropes and updating trope entries on the page for Dark Hearts for those who are interested, since I've posted several chapters since then
Lover of anime, video games, old-school Rock & Roll music, yaoi, horror, motorcycles, classic cars, trains, and historical fictionHow to create fanfic trope I has wrote my fanfic in Thai Website Dek-D like Hundred Beast War:Animal Kaiser which is animal kaiser fanfic and Fiction War and Fiction War Superpower Awakened but I don't known about how to launch page
I think you've already launched the trope page for your fanfic?
God has cursed me for my hubris and my work is never finished.yes but I just test my tvtrope page
Wondering if anyone can make a YMMV page for Dark Hearts yet or not?
Lover of anime, video games, old-school Rock & Roll music, yaoi, horror, motorcycles, classic cars, trains, and historical fictionHonestly, I'd love to see trope pages of my fics. That said, I'll wait for someone else to recommend them first, if it ever happens.
I work outside for a living.Probably never. Just last week or so, someone on the Fanfiction subreddit explicitly asked why are there so few fics with trope pages on TV Tropes.
I pointed them at this thread as the reason.
Is it allowed to add footnote/annotation to a line added by someone else to explain my original creative intention, or is this also considered bad form? I'm not exactly the best writer around, so sometimes people (who I am deeply grateful towards) adding entry to my story misinterpret what I meant to happen in my story because I didn't do a good job explaining what's going on in my story in the first place.

No, that is not allowed. If nothing else, remember that this is not a permanent archive, and therefore a terrible place to put Word of God entries. You can mention a Word of God that you said elsewhere, but again, the page cannot be written from the perspective of the author. It has to be written like any other page by a random troper.
There Is No Such Thing as Notability: "If it fits the trope description, then it can be put in. All it requires is someone to put it in there. Simple as that."
As to the thread topic, I recently troped a couple of my fics (since they're sort of a series) just to try it out: Cadet Scrap and its prequel Well-Matched.
My stories on AO3.
