Yes, I'd rather be off merging this trope and Funny Animal into one.
Why? And why not Beast Folk?
I just noticed recently that Beast Folk redirects to Beast Man. Make of that what you will.
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Well Beast Folk is basically the plural of Beast Man. There is nothing to say Petting-Zoo People cant be sigular as well, they are the exact same thing.
Yes. I still think we should merge Petting-Zoo People with Funny Animal, Beast Man, or both.
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Funny animal is quite different from a beast man. A heck of a lot less human.
Yes. But still, Petting-Zoo People isn't distinct from either.
Do we have any consensus for anything here yet?

Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project!Aliens who resemble animals?
What are you saying?
Join the Five-Man Band cleanup project! That was a reference to the proposal to redefine Petting-Zoo People to be about aliens that resemble Earth animals, like the cast of Star Fox.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.Yes, that seems to be the current consensus on what the trope should be.
‘Animal shaped Humanoid’ maybe, it would get off the wrongly descriptive ‘alien’.
But I think just merging with Beast Folk would be the best, it’s exactly the same trope.
I get the impression Funny Animal is cases where an anthropomorphized animal is done in a really cartoonish fashion where they still look like animals. Like Zootopia where they basically look like animals standing straight on their hind legs.
Petting-Zoo People is like way more on the furry side where they resemble people with animal heads, fur, and tails more they do their respective species.
Granted. There's lots of room for grey areas and overlaps between the tropes and I think Beast Folk could be a sub-trope of Petting-Zoo People.

That is our definition, but other sites list our Petting Zoo People as Funny Animals (for example, Goofy is considered a Funny Animal elsewhere). There's also a lot of overlap and confusion even on this site. I've seen characters listed as both Funny Animals and Petting Zoo People.
The train of thought going about in this thread is combining the two current definitions and making combining Petting Zoo People with another trope. Probably Beast Folk. Make the definition about characters who are specifically noted to be animal-like humanoid beings, not just anthropmorphic animals.
Clock is set.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI guess no one's made a crowner for this yet, and the clock expires tomorrow; what now?
Should I make a crowner?

Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! Are Beast Folk considered humans who physically resemble animals or the opposite?

Humans who physically resemble animals. Is zoomorphism a word yet?

Um, the crowner made for this thread hasn't been hooked yet.
I hollered to ask a mod to hook it. My apologies if someone's done that already.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass.
