Dreamkeepers Roleplay signup

We humans on Earth have a dream world counterpart tied to us ever since birth, but we are completely unaware of their existence. The dream world counterparts are known as Dreamkeepers, and their objective is to protect the humans from the Dark Dreamkeepers and Nightmare Dreamkeepers.

The Dark Dreamkeepers and Nightmare Dreamkeepers have the ability to kill off humans in the real world once they kill their Dreamkeeper counterparts, just like Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street.

To counter that, the Dreamkeepers all have a unique power to protect themselves, their friends and their human counterparts. For many years, they have used these powers to fight back against the Nightmares and finally managed to defeat them in a great battle long ago. However, Nightmares never die, and generations of peace have bred complacency among the Dreamkeepers, even going so far as to outlaw the use of their powers. And it's only a matter of time before the Nightmares return.

Hello everyone, thank you for reading the backstory. If you haven't noticed, this is a Dreamkeepers roleplay. You are a human who has the ability to enter the Dream World without needing sleep after a serious vehicular accident knocked you into a coma and granting you this ability. In the dream world, you'll be turned into an anthropomorphic animal so that you can blend in with the citizens of Anduruna. You can either choose to have a Power immediately or use your own weapons and/or equipment to assist you in your adventures in Anduruna until you discover your Power.

There are several Powers that are tied to these Elements and coloured accordingly to them: Sea Blue for Water & Ice, Red for Fire, Green for Life, Black for Undead, Purple for Magic, Golden Yellow for Tech, Sky Blue for Air, Brown for Earth, Light Yellow for Light and Blue-Black for Darkness.

Do note that the franchise itself is M18 due to drug & alcohol references, blood, violence, suggestive material and swearing.

CHARACTER CREATION SHEET

3. Real World appearance: A requirement for the roleplay is that you must have a human form in the Real World. Otherwise, you can't access the Dream World.
4. Dream World appearance: Required in order to blend in with the citizens of Anduruna, known as Andurunians. They can be any animals of your choice, provided that they are anthropomorphic. If the character you chose isn't yours, remember to credit the artist(s) and/or the source material from where you got the character.
5. Personality:
6. Powers: Self-explanatory. That said, try and keep your character from being too overpowered. Anyone with Superman, Goku or Kenshiro level abilities is a no-no. This also includes time-travel abilities. Healing and time-slowing abilities are allowed, but can only be used during or after a fight for the sake of balance.
7. Equipment and weapons: Also self-explanatory. This can include various equipment or whatnot that gives you your powers as well just any weapons or gadgets you have to assist you, like a boomerang, grappling hook or Gauss cannon. Both tech heroes like Viriathus and Badass Normal like Mace will want to make use of this.
8. Backstory: Basically your character's life before the accident

I'm interested. Two questions:

1. It says in the main thread that you "create your avatar". Is this an indication that characters choose their animal appearance in-universe? Or is it out of their control?

2. Since there's a griffin character, does this mean mythical creatures are available for PC use? Any guidelines on which ones are usable? (I presume nothing too humanlike, like elves or dwarves- just ones that are more like animals that can be anthropomorphized.)

• Character name: Brigida Pires Esteves
• Age: 30
• Real World appearance: Brigida's a tallish and kind of plain athletic woman, always with an immaculate patrol uniform. Rounded features come to a point with a largish nose and a sharp chin.
• Dream World appearance: Big Thick Badger. Brigida is large and powerfully built, with a strong prominent brow and long wild hair. She wears very plain clothes but only takes minimal effort to hide her stolen gear under a baggier overshirt and a long belt cloth over her waist.
• Personality: Brigida doesn't trust the world and doubles down when shit gets rough. She sees resistance as a sign that she's getting somewhere and doesn't believe anyone should tell anyone what to do. She thinks that she's either delusional or genuinely kidnapped to the world she's found herself in and in either case kicking some ass to get home is her number one priority at present.
• Powers: Brigida can pass a strong electrical current through her body; it only goes on or off, she has no fine control over it.
• Equipment and weapons: Some stolen CCA gear with the serial numbers filed off; in the time between arriving in the world and the RP's start she's managed to get herself equipped. Unfortunately, the guy was a lot smaller than her and not all the gear fit her, and lots was damaged beyond repair in the struggle.

  • The chestpiece and leg-guards of the CCA shock trooper combat armor.
• Backstory: Brigida is a cop who grew up all around Portugal, in the city of Barreiro to parents who taught her right and gave her all the lessons she needed in life. They were libertarian-adjacent cranks and scholars who taught her early not to trust anyone with big power, and they kept afloat professing those ideas in talks and radio shows across the country. Brigida saw this alongside a decently prosperous country however; she decided that she had to fix the country from inside, not swing wildly against it. She signed on with the Polícia de Segurança Pública and gained a moderately successful career as a police officer that tempered department policy with a light touch and a strong drive to conserve the use of power over anything else. While escorting a police convoy though, the unthinkable happened and someone hurled a bomb at them. Her cruiser was thrown off course, and she wiped out, waking up in... wherever the hell she was, with a gun pointed in her face by some fashy drone of a goon. She hadn't made it seven years on the force for nothing though, so after solving the hell out of that problem she set out to figure out what the hell to do with herself and figure out what the hell was going on.
• Likes and dislikes: Loves a good talk radio show, a reasonable conversation, and people that agree with her. Hates people that think they're right or that want to push other people around, worse if they say it's because they're right.
• Hobbies: She does a podcast in her off time and makes youtube tutorials about antique firearm maintenance.
• Miscellaneous: Anything you can think of that doesn't fit into any of the other categories.
