I've been going down the rabbit hole of DDLC fanfiction for a couple of weeks. It might have risen to prominence as something of a meme game, but there's a lot of heart to the game and there's a bunch of plot aspects that people have been running with in the growing fanfiction community for this game. There needs to be a place to share fanfic for this game.

Please note - this game is known for being absurdly easy to spoil. Many stories will spoil major aspects of Doki Doki Literature Club right out of the gate. If you have not played the game yet and have any desire to experience it for yourself, then you should either do so immediately or avoid this thread entirely until you play the game. This is your one and only spoiler warning - SPOILERS WILL MOST LIKELY BE NUMEROUS AND DETAILED.

With that out of the way - let's get this thread going.

I'm gonna plug Doki Doki Literature Girls, which starts off under the guise of your average Tumblr fandom ask blog, but gradually reveals itself to be a mostly episodic series of cute, funny, and sometimes dramatic shorts following the girls around in their weird glitchy adventures. Yui here uses the sprites to great effect, editing to fit the needs of the story, or even going a step beyond and drawing new artwork completely. It's a fun read.

I can't link anything right now, but I have a couple of suggestions.

Doki Doki Murder Club - Monika explains herself to the Doki girls, they forgive her and decide to go after the main character instead. They all kill the protagonist, with Monika resetting the simulation between each death. This isn't for the faint of heart, and has the highest AO 3 rating available - steer clear if this isn't your scene, but it's a pretty insane story if this is your scene.

The author makes a case for the MC being bad that misses the mark a bit, but the story is marked as OOC - you're there to see what happens to the main character, not to judge the contents of his character. It's a shame that the author does exactly that in the fifth chapter, addressing the audience through Monika, but I still recommend this one.

There's also one that I think is called... Dreaming is Falling? It starts off as a short story based on a Reddit picture of Monika in a hospital, having constructed the events of Doki Doki Literature Club in a coma. cliché idea, I know - and the story goes on to tell its original story with the use of OCs and a Monika that is very much not her in-game self. It's much more of an original story, and it definitely isn't for everyone - but I've been enjoying it so far, so I'll leave it here.

There's one more that I kind of enjoyed more for the concept than the execution, though time will tell how good it gets. It's called Doki Doki Gang Violence!, and it involves Monika accidentally forming a girl gang. It starts with Monika spray-painting a wall at school, and it's escalating to more high-profile property damage.
