White Fox Didn't really tone down Re Zero that much.
After All, White Fox is made up of most of the staff at OLM that worked on the original Berserk anime, so....
Watch SymphogearChapter 25 of the manga is up. Ice cream and a beholder—I'm sorry, "monster too terrible to speak its name."
I remember reading the manga when the first few chapters were scanlated and being instantly hooked. Got a very Dark Souls impression from it, and I love the whole Tucker's Kobolds aspect of low level monsters still being a huge threat when their characteristics are realized properly. I also love me some pragmatic combat and heroes, and the MC is as pragmatic as they come. None of that "spare the children" nonsense, or fighting fair. It's pest extermination, plain and simple, and vermin don't deserve honor or fairness.
Later I found the light novel and read that, and I do agree that the manga added in way more rape scenes. If an anime does get made, I could see them sticking closer to the light novel's portrayal of events at some parts.
Also, sewer pirate goblins. So ridiculous, yet so awesome.
Yeaaaah, that eyeball monster is good example of how this is clearly D&D inspired
"A monster too terrible lest we speak its name and summon worse horrors: copyright lawsuits."
Disgusted, but not surprisedAh beholders. So straightforward. So remarkably deadly even played out of the box.
Played by a DM intelligently though? Nasty nasty pieces of work even before you get to it.
Main reason they haven't already taken over the world in D & D is because they are also utter narcissists who hate other Beholders for being slightly different.
Disgusted, but not surprisedYep, the middle eye was dispel eye At least it didn't have 8 different eye beam rays like actual beholders do
I think it says something about how OP beholders are that even a heavily nerfed version is an extremely difficult boss fight that required a small Godzilla Threshold to beat.
How can it be "not that bad"?
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Just because something could have been worse, doesn't mean it's "not that bad". Especially when you're talking about a rape scene.
Disgusted, but not surprisedIt could be used for titillation?
‘My ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.’That's just a way it could be worse. I'd still refrain from describing any use of a rape scene as "not that bad".
Disgusted, but not surprisedThe only thing ya gotta know about rape scenes is don’t show them.
This is one of those scenes where subtly is the only answer.
If ya do end up doing it then either just show the after effects or do a discretion shot like focusing on a grasping struggling hand or an extreme close up of the victims reaction.
Not a full page spread of the woman’s naked body being violated.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Is there any reason why this LN is hyped up for anime adaptation and some people view this as a good LN?
"Making screw-ups and mistakes was I ever really good at. Because everything I touch went to hell."Despite the gratuitous rape to establish the Goblins as Always Chaotic Evil, Goblins Slayer's zany schemes to rout out goblins are actually quite enjoyable, plus his Genre Savvy expositions are nice jabs at common JRPG cliches.
This series is already a franchise.
I have seen so many different spin-offs I don’t know what is what.
I didn’t think it be so successful.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."One thing I enjoy about this series and its spinoffs is that it injects a touch of reality into Dn D style adventures by emphasizing that this sort of lifestyle and the world that would require adventurers is really dangerous. Even low level creatures, such as the Goblins of course, are serious threats.
The prequel gaiden spinoff for example has slimes. You know, the low level creature that is usually the first enemy encountered in most games. Well, in this series, these things can melt peoples' faces off if they're not careful. Think The Blob (1988).

Disgusted, but not surprisedOf course, said realism is slightly undercut by the Goblins' apparent Magical Trapping Powers, and the fact that the people in charge consider Goblins a minor nuisance when they are capable of razing entire villages.
You'd think some local lord would make a proper effort beyond sending in rookie adventurers after the first village. Taxes don't pay themselves, yah know.

That's actually something I kinda take issue with, since everyone in the world seems to think that they're in a more traditional RPG setting where there's a significant power gap between rookies and vets and low-level monsters aren't a real threat. The setting doesn't make sense

Yeah, if this series is actually realistic, goblins would be taken far more seriously.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.
Eh, probably do like Berserk and change the content to be (a little) less graphic.
