So, 5, Revelations and 6 are £7 each on Steam. Are they worth getting at that price?

Revelations I've heard is great so go for that. 5 I guess is okay and I haven't played enough of 6 to forma proper opinion.

Just don't bother with ORC because ugh.

New Revelations 2 trailer. Looks like Capcom actually are attempting a return to horror.

Also looks like the villian may have watched too much Battle Royale or Saw.

maxwell: to be fair, games are fantasy, they need not ALWAYS reflect reality. I myself enjoy a bit of eye candy in games.

I've finally made it out of that mazy police station in RE 2 and I think I've made it through the sewer level as well. Granted, I now have to explore a whole new area with goddamn Sherry tagging along. [lol]

I'm... guessing this is the general Resident Evil thread?

Well, I started up RE2 for the first time a while ago and worked my way through Leon A. Never finished but decided to last night because it was Halloween and I had nothing better to do. I was working my way through the final areas and was getting into trouble because I was running severely low on ammo. By the time the place started exploding, I had one shot left in my shotgun and pistol, maybe 3% left in my flamethrower, and 6 rounds in my magnum. Now, when I started running low, I decided to take my knife with me just in case. I had never used it before the entire playthrough but I thought that there's a first time for everything.

So I got to the final boss (after tanking my way through that last set of zombies) and though I could just wait for the elevator. After running around for a few minutes, I decided that was the case and started fighting. First form went down in only three shots from my magnum, thank god, but then the second (okay, third) form freaked me out because I knew my train had finally arrived in Fuckedville. I used up all of my ammo and he still wasn't dead. I knew I was truly fucked and had probably made the game unwinnable. So, with a sigh, I drew the knife and decided to go down swinging.

And wouldn't you know it, I fucking killed him with my knife.

I shivved the final boss of Leon A to death.

I made it to the train with about a minute and a half to spare. It was glorious.

Considering Dog Birkin is the hardest boss in the game you did incredible.

I know a good few ammo saving tricks tho just incase you consider going for an A Rank later on.

That makes it even better.

I was talking to a friend while playing it and my reaction to pulling that off was basically this: "I'm Leon Scott Kennedy, motherfucker! Don't mess with me! I'll knife you!"

But yeah, I'd like those ammo saving tricks. I won't bother with going for an A Rank but I don't want to press my luck and go for a repeat performance in Claire B.

I was actually relatively fine on ammo until I hit that room with five Lickers. Seriously, five shotgun blasts to the face is about three too many.

Hmm. Not sure I remember a room with like 5 lickers. Anyway, the old upward shotgun blast can kill multiple zombies at once if done right.

Same with Claire's grenade launcher.

And you don't have to kill every licker you see. If one's between you and your destination then sure,

Spiders and their poison spew are ultimately harmless in the larger sewers and can be avoided without firing a shot.

Once you got enough shotgun ammo or grenades you're best off dumping the pistol

The shotgun and magnum customizations also give a free reload.

Acid Grenades are fucking awesome but not much in supply. A few of them will knock out a certain badass mutant that'll start hounding you. Don't use them every time you meet him, tho.

There are shotgun and magnum customizations? I only got the pistol ones. I feel like I missed a lot of stuff. Of course, I still had a key I got forever ago and never found a place to use. I also found a locker that needed a key but not THAT key and couldn't find the right key for it.

As for the room with five Lickers, it was the one that led to the final boss area the first time you go through it. It might have actually been three with a fourth spawning as you went the other way but still.

Even after completing Leon A, I still don't really understand how the aiming works. I have no idea if I'm actually hitting their heads or just their torso (which might explain why the Lickers took so many shots to kill). Hell, there were even times where I could have sworn I was aiming right at them but I missed. The over-the-shoulder camera certainly makes aiming a lot easier.

My biggest gripe with the Resident Evil games is there being a "magnum" class of weapons. The term magnum refers not to the weapon itself, but the powder load of the ammunition. It's a minor gripe, though.

Yeah, there's some shotgun parts for Leon in one of the Y-shaped tunnels after the sewers and cable car ride. Lemme tell you it REALLY helps against the Super Lickers, more often than not it dusts them in a few shots if not one shot outright. The Custom Magnum is also Leon's absolute best weapon which is why its so late game.

Oh that one. Yeah, I usually don't have trouble with that room tbh since I've enough ammo to take the lickers down without too much hassle.

Like the upgrades, I probably missed a lot of things which is why I ran out of ammo. Of course, I'm glad I did since I wouldn't have gotten to shiv the final boss to death otherwise. I'll run through Claire B blind but when I eventually do Claire A and Leon B, I'll use a guide so I can grab everything.

That's good to know. That's also kind of sad but, hey, they can't all be as awesome as Leon.

Oh, leaving that Aim Assist thing (or whatever it was) on is a good idea, right?

Auto Aim will help and doesn't seem to affect your ranking.

When a zombie staggers while being pistol shot, the next shot will knock them down if fired quickly enough.

Also custom Shotgun is fucking awesome in that its strong, it tears zombies apart and has a nice wide spread.

Claire doesn't get the shotgun at all but in the same bit you find Leon's custom shotgun parts, you find an exclusive weapon for her that'll come in handy against one boss, and contrary to what some guides say, using it will not affect your chances of getting an A Rank.

Sherry's tougher than she looks. Don't worry too hard. In fact, once you start to get a good feel for the sewers you should theoretically be able to get through them without firing a single shot up until the Y tunnels and the turntable unless you got the giant crocodile to deal with. But he's easy.

Also did you turn on the Anti-BOW gas in your Leon A game?

No I did not. I knew that using it would make that part easier now but harder in Claire B to save it for then so that way I can just breeze through that area. I also took the larger inventory option when provided to choice between that and the gun.

For the gas, good idea. Turning it on in an A scenario means the Ivies will be buffed to Poison Ivies in the B scenario which are a bit more irritating and ensure you'll have to really shoot them at a distance. Claire gets Flame Rounds which are good but Leon has to use the Flamethrower which is kinda shit, although Custom Shotgun and Custom Magnum will help.

Simply put, fuck the gas on the A scenarios, its a hindrance.

As for the Gun VS Side Pack option, yeah that's a pit of a pickle but for Leon A I let him have the Submachine Gun since it helps against the G birther a fair bit, helps deal with its larvae and doesn't impact ranking like the infinite ammo unlockable SMG. I spose it helps for Claire too but Acid Rounds and shit really wreck shit up so I wouldn't worry.

Here's another tip for if you fight Dog Birkin against as anybody with enough ammo hopefully: BE FUCKING CAREFUL. Have a lot of superherbs or sprays if you don't care about your rank. If he knocks you down to even Yellow Caution, POP A SUPERHERB IMMEDIATELY. He can instakill you from that if he feels like it.

Early 2015, according to Steam at least.
