ITT: We Are All Fantasy Characters

"Oh, hello, raven," says Nakhta, perking up. "I must not have seen you. Do you have news for us?"

"Phew. Just a raven."

At least it was just a raven!

"Meeting?" Henry asks, "What meeting? Lord, I'm so very confused right now..."

'Perhaps we should play goth Alice and follow the black crow.' Hyde suggests.

"But I don't want to-alright. For the sake of knowledge."

Henry follows the crow reluctantly. He looks dead on the inside.

Aaron sits down uneasily on a couch and removes his hood. He wasn't raised in a barn, after all... As far as anyone else knew. Now that the hood is off, his face is fully revealed. His skin is tan, like he's been outside for a while. Oddly, his eyes are gold- then again there's a girl here with green hair so maybe it's not that weird. His face has a generally downcast set to it, not helped by the fact that he's frowning right now.

Elise > Inside Party

Elise takes some time to introduce herself to everyone else.

Call me Elise, if you will. And no, I haven't any news as of recently.

When Henry enters the room and sees other people, he forces himself to perk up and smile politely.

"Oh its you all again." he says, clearly only trying to sound like he's please to see the group again.

'You havn't officially met.' Hyde reminds him.

Henry cringes slightly for a millisecond, unable to think up an excuse.

Suddenly, a voice shouts from down the hall. It's a female voice, and she seems to be arguing with someone. From the room you're all currently in, you can't hear any other voices.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna use second person when referring to you guys from now on.

"I'm going to go see what that comontion's about!" Henry says quickly.

He then proceeds to make his way out into the hall.

'You don't at all look like you're hiding something.' Hyde tells him.

"Shut up." Henry whispers.

"I don't think we should go snooping around.."

As Nakhta can never refuse an opportunity to eavesdrop as long as it doesn't look likely to kill her, she's already rising to listen as well.

Elise > Inside group

I..don't think I'm quite the best to be eavesdropping, just sayin.

Elise says this. Of course, as a bird that can call out at a frequency that she did earlier, this would give her away in such a situation.

Bryn also decides to listen in. She's gotta know if she's safe or not.

Henry looks to the bird, still not sure if it's even there, and says, "It's not eavesdropping if they're shouting so loud you can't help but hear..."

'Oh, Henry!' Hyde says, 'Justifying evil again, are you?'

Henry's left eye twitches a little.

If you were to go down the hall, you would find that the noise is coming from a small, empty room. Ulrich is standing there, transfixed. A quadrupedal wolf^note This is the Wolf of Wisdom, a character I introduced here, just in case you missed it. Or see my page for more info. is standing beside him defensively. There is no one else in the room.

"You're wrong!" says the wolf. "He would never do that. He still sees them as his friends."

A new voice, which seems to be coming out of nowhere, chuckles. "They'll never be his friends. He scared them, remember? And soon, he'll do it again."

"No!" says the wolf. "I don't know who you are, or what makes you think you can control him, but I won't let you!"

"There is absolutely nothing you can do. You're part of my plan, just like everyone else here. ...Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'll leave for now. Your guests are watching you." The wolf looks over and sees you all.

Ulrich suddenly "wakes up" from his trance-like state. The wolf puts a paw on him reassuringly.

"Ulrich, I don't know what's happening to you, but I promise we'll find a way to stop it. But for now, I think you should just relax," she says. "Your friends are here, remember? Go spend time with them, you'll have fun. Surely the food is ready by now?"

"The food...?" Ulrich still seems groggy, but he snaps out of it. "Oh yes! The food!" He looks over at you all. "Right. Uh, let's go to the dining room, everyone!"

Ulrich walks out of the room and beckons you to follow him. The wolf stays behind, lying down anxiously.

After everyone's been gone a while and no one comes back, Aaron walks down the hall to find Ulrich leaving the room.

".. Did something happen?"

"No, no, everything's fine!" Ulrich says cheerfully. "We're just going to start our party and forget this all happened. Come along!"

The hell?

"R-Right, then..."

"Well. Alright, then. I do expect to be seated above the salt," Nakhta slightly huffs, but she's smiling anyway. Well, she was hungry...but her curiosity has been piqued significantly, disembodied voices and talking non-sapient wolves and such.

Henry stays behind and stares at the wolf.

Elise > Group

Okay then...

She heads back with the others, perching on Bryn's shoulder.

Aaron raises an eyebrow. "... Right."

"Well... I mean, as long as I get to eat. I like eating..." Arva is less nervous now, but is still notably shaken.

Keeping his current gruff expression the whole time, Aaron pats Arva's back.

"Same."

Having been distracted outside, Nyssa flits back towards the manor, squeezing its way over to the others as best it can. Remarkably, despite brushing up against dirt its body seems to be just as clear as before, despite water's usual tendencies to pick up anything placed in contact with it. On seeing the wolf, however Nyssa lands on the ground and begins to walk toward it, a hand outstretched.

"Well, aren't you an interesting sight. I must say, out of the animals that made their homes near my village, wolves were always my favorite. At least none ever tried to eat us..."

For now, I'm going to try writing 2 separate scenes for each group. I might do this from now on, or maybe not. We'll see what happens.

Wolf's Room

Still lying down, the Wolf of Wisdom lifts her head back up to look at Henry and Nyssa.

"Heh, thank you, little one." she says to Nyssa.

"You two don't wish to join the party just yet? Heh, very well. I suppose I should introduce myself."

"I have no real name, but Ulrich calls me the Wolf of Wisdom, which I think is rather nice. I serve as his advisor, although he mainly needs me for moral support. Despite his... rambunctious personality, he needs it a lot more than you might realize."

Dining Room

The rest of the group follows Ulrich into the dining room, where a bunch of crabs are finishing up setting a large table, covered with all sorts of food.

Ulrich squees with joy. "Excellent! Wonderful job, all of you! You can all take the rest of the day off. Thank you."

As the crabs file out of the room, Ulrich invites you all to sit at the table with him. He looks at the food as if trying to restrain himself.
