—————-Friday September 19th, 2025: 2:15 PM——————-

It was an ordinary day, or at least at the time they all thought as much. The magic that they would soon know seemed to only exist in children's stories. But as the day pressed on it was going to get a lot weirder. But for now, Tamera, Miranda, Ara. and Rina were just normal high school students getting ready for the weekend.

The atmosphere around the school was one of relief. After their first week the students were finally going to get another break, and hey hot weather was still left! Maybe some of them could go to parties, find their friends, or finally beat that RPG boss they never actually won against. But for other students the r&r wasn't coming so soon. 15 minutes from now meant the clubs were finally going to get their first meeting, the football team would have their first home game, and teachers could actually help the students who did better when it wasn't a hour long lecture to 30 different students. As the time limit begun to be reached the teacher's began winding down their class and the students were on the edge of their seats waiting for the bell. So what exactly was the normal day like for our four heroes you ask, well...

Tamara was only half paying attention to everything, she only had her club meeting in her head right now, just as she had for most of the day, the Medieval club's first meeting, she had secretly read through the applications - few as they were - time and time again during class this day. It surely wouldn't be the biggest club, sure, but still, there were applicants to begin with, so that was good. Tamara even managed to get a proper club-room to which she would rush as soon as the bell would ring.

Rina was hunched over her test, frantically scrawling on the paper in front of her. Her classmates had all finished the test and were chatting aimlessly, while the teacher watched her with impatience. When the clock showed only a few minutes left, she stood up, paced to the front and put the test down.

"Here you are, Mr. Henderson. Sorry if-"

"No apologies, Ms. Tremblay." the older man cut her off brusquely. "Your math work can speak for itself."

Rina gave a nervous nod and walked back to her desk. Jeez... what kind of teacher gives a test the first week, anyways? 'See what we remember', my foot... I remember everything from last year! Okay, most things... okay, some...

With a deep breath, she pushed thoughts of math out of her head. Alright, enough trigonometry for today. Painting time! She rummaged through her backpack to check all her paintbrushes were there, excited to get back to the art classroom and work some more on her first painting of the school year.

Ara stretched in her seat. The teacher had pretty much stopped the lesson by now, so everyone in the class was relaxing. (Not too loudly though; they were still in class and anyone who got too rowdy received an evil eye from the teacher.) Ara hadn't really made any friends yet, though, so she sat alone, quietly.

The first week hadn't been too hard. There wasn't much difference between this and middle school, but then again it was the first week. Things would probably be a lot harder here on in.. Hnnnnnnnnnnnng no don't think about that. This school year's gonna go great. You'll make friends and get good grades. You're not gonna be alone and a disappointment. Nope, definitely not.

First week of Senior Year went by with precisely nothing interesting happening for Miranda McConnaigh. All the teachers perpetually reminding the seniors about college, about financial aid, all of that. It was, at least, fortunately, Friday, which meant the weekend. Which also meant clubs.

Miranda had a free last period, but sat in the library reading anyhow. She didn't have anything better to do and class wasn't long enough to go do much and be back in time for club. So here she was, reading in the library as the bell rang. She put her bookmark in and snapping the book closed, standing up, and exiting the library.

Club awaited.

——-Tamera: Mrs. Elise's Biology 101. Classroom 1E—————

As Tamara's quick game of "pack up and get out of here" was underway she didn't notice how quickly the time was passing. But as it stood now, the applications seemed far more interesting to her than anything happening in Mrs. Elise's class. While most students were sure biology was important, most of them weren't interested in becoming scientists or biology teachers and didn't want to do 2 hours of homework a night for class they were all probably gonna have to take again in college. So she found herself in good company with the other 25 students, particularly her best friend.

The second the bell rang and the teenagers started making their way to the exit Tamara planned to as well. If she does choose to leave the classroom she would hear a familiar soft voice coming from close by in the hall, "So who exactly is interested in coming to our sword fighting parties" her soft-spoken dark haired friend asked with a slight chuckle as she was speed-walking to the club room. She was a thin, quiet person who gave off the impression of being almost invisible. Tatayana was only joking with Tamera a little because she had become so comfortable with her over middle school.

Tamera had gone over the applications in her book over and over three people were considering joining, a popular football player Kyle Nash, a dark haired muscular boy that one wouldn't expect in a "nerdy" club like this, Sally Richmond, a nerdy, brown-haired over-achiever, and more surprisingly the editor of the school newspaper Sarah Hall. Well, she had put in an application and seemed to express interest, but who knew if her priorities were really there or if she just wanted something else to look good on a college application.

Tatayna eagerly awaited a response from her friend.

———————Rina: Mr. Henderson's Trigonometry: Classroom ——————2A

A couple of cruel, (quiet) laughs from the more math inclined students weren't really all that noticeable. After all, if the worst is you get in High School is a couple students laughing at your grades than you must be doing pretty well. As Rina went through her paintbrushes she found they were all there. Just as she hoped. The next 15 minutes passed by slightly uneventfully, with only the soft sounds of pencils brushing up against paper, and the barely audible sound of the red second-hand of the clock. Before she could get out of her seat however Rina was approached by a familiar student, but one she hadn't known very well before.

Daiki Usikamo was a Japanese-American boy with a very small runner's build. Black hair and was notable mostly for mainly being a track runner and something of an art student.Today he was wearing a dark pair of glasses, a white hoodie, and a pair of small black winter gloves. His nervousness was palpable as he approached the young woman's desk. His body was shaking and a notable stutter was in his voice as he chocked the words out.

"Hey, it's uh...Rina right? Your an art student too right?

—————————Miranda: Club Room First Floor———————-

Miranda had barely gotten in the club room. It was nice to get into a real classroom instead of some random section of the cafeteria or the arts and crafts room. But this club not being very populated yet meant club activities weren't exactly gonna get a lot of funding. So it wasn't too surprising when the first thing she heard upon going to the club room was this from her best friend Maia.

"There is no doubt about it. If we don't get more members soon we can't keep this room!"

——————Ara Aries: A chance encounter—————-

As the bell rang the students all quickly made there way outside to the bus, to the football field, or to their club rooms. If Ara decided to go towards the bus outside she heard an exasperated student announce they needed more club members from outside the room. What club was this? The class certainly seemed to be ready to exit quickly, but there was definitely people in there now.

Tamara gave a thumbs up "Hehe, you and me and three others~ And one of them is Kyle, believe it or not, the football player, of all people applying here he'd probably be the last person I'd expected - definetely not complaining about it, that much is sure~" As she skidded to a halt in front of their clubroom Tamara looked over to Tatyana with a wide grin "Let's do this Tanya~" And with that Tamara swung open the door to the room, actually already preparing to slide out of the way should someone already have come to the club room earlier than planned and want to do a surprise attack - unlikely as that was, Tamara wasn't falling for it a second time, good old days.

Miranda nodded to Maia, but shrugged. "Just grab a few people and get them to put their names down, it's not like they actually have to attend. That's what we've done for the three years previous and I don't see them yelling at us for doing it again." It was true. Their first year here they'd learned you needed a minimum number of club members to actually get a club room, and they'd pretty much skated by on that minimum for the succeeding three years. "You're the social one, go stand outside and bug people. Also, where's Eireen, I have a book to give back to her."

Ara indeed went to go for the buses. She stopped, however, when she heard someone apparently worried about not getting enough club members to keep their meeting space. Normally she'd just shrug this off and chide herself for eavesdropping, but hey wasn't this the room that mythology club was held in? She'd been interested upon hearing about it, and it'd be a shame if it closed before she could learn more..

Ara poked her head in the door. "Hey, is this where the Mythology and Fiction Club meets?" She asked Maia.

Rina glanced up, a little surprised someone was talking to her. She was usually quiet in math class, it being far from her favorite subject. Seeing Daiki, she adopted a cheerful smile. She had seen him around the art wing once in a while, but didn't know him very closely. *I've heard he runs track, though... wonder what it's like to be on a sports team.*

“Hey, yeah I'm Rina! You're... Daiki, right?”

The bell sounded and the students, clamoring, began to exit in a clump. Rina stood up and swung the backpack over her shoulder.

“I'm on my way to the painting classroom, d'you wanna come with me? If there was something you wanted to talk about?”

————————Tamera: Medieval Clubroom First Floor 10B ——————-

Tatayana didn't stop "power walking" to the clubrooom the whole time.but when she heard that Kyle had applied to the club. "Kyle? Like Kyle Nash!? The Running Back of our team!? I mean...our team isn't that good, but having someone like him could get us a lot more members! Oh hell yeah....okay calm down Tatayana we got make this fun for them to if we want them to stay" She managed to control her breathing long enough for Tamera to swing the club door open!

Stepping in all the three new club mates jumped what looked to be a full inch back! As the three new people wondered what the hell was going on the "jock" of the group finally got enough courage to confront the club president. So uh...pretty excited if your ready to barge in like that huh?" At 6'2 with blond hair and pretty muscular for his age, he cut an imposing figure. A silence seemed to permeate the air for about five seconds after Kyle said that. With a nervous Tatayana staying very close to Tamera.

Finally breaking the silence a visibly agitated Sarah Hall spoke up, "So uh....we looking at some artifacts today or something? Is that what we do here?"

————Miranda and Ara: A chance encounter of Myth, (and fiction)—————-

Maia shook her head back and forth as if to stop the argument before it started. Before they could finish though Eireen heard her name about the book, "Oh, thanks Miranda! I've been missing this. Now why don't we get this meeting started and worry about getting members next wee....." before she could finish the door was opened slowly by a young woman they barely recognized. Maia suddenly saw that this random freshman was talking to her. What was her name? ''Ara" or something?

"Wah, oh yes! This is the myth and fiction club right here! You interested in that kinda stuff? Got a favorite? Oh wait...sorry...I'm Maia. Who are you?" She asked as she held out her hand to the freshman.

——————Rina: Headed to the art room?——————

The teenage boy was a bit shocked by her friendly attitude to this almost complete stranger just walking up and asking her about her life. But she was friendly. She even remember his name, and pretty much nobody outside the track team remember that! He had hoped this was going to be a little easier than he thought.

When she finished asking if he wanted to come with her he smiled a bit. Walking with her as they both made their way away from the art classroom. Okay, sure! But before that, I was wondering if you had a second alone? Don't worry it isn't uh,,super serious." He managed to get out, hoping he didn't come off creepy. But realizing how this might come off to someone he barely knew.

Watching all of the others take a step back surprised Tamara, though she managed to retain composure, giving them a playful salute. Hearing the question she nodded casually "Well, it's our first meeting, so yeah, I'm excited - also can you really fault me for being excited finally getting out of class~?" Tamara chuckled before turning over to Sarah, shortly mulling her possible answers over in her head, not wanting to disappoint and potentially scare away her members but neither really having anything like that planned "Well, this club was made with studying through re-enactment in mind, so for today - while we won't go to see some medieval artifacts - I'd first like to know what brings you all here, so we can then make a proper activity plan for this school year~"

Daiki's request causes Rina to shoot him a side glance, somewhat suspicious. Her pace quickens as she considers his words. "Um... sure... just a second, though."

She indicates a side hallway that seems deserted, no clubs apparently meeting in those classrooms. Rina shifts her backpack's weight to one shoulder and fixes Daiki with a curious stare. "What is it? Do you need some help with homework or something?" Lord knows I'm no scholar... but he seems nervous, almost... what's up with him?

As she awaits his response, she glances to check that Daiki isn't blocking the route back into the main hallway. Gotta hurry up if I want to make it to the studio classroom... helping people is important, though.

Sarah was the first to respond as she noted Tamera was acting well in her duty as the club president. If anyone could convince them that the club was "cool" or at least "fun" it was a student who really cared about what they were talking about. So uh, I'm here to trying to do a report on some clubs, hope to have a little fun here too. Know a little about it, maybe we'll do some quiz games huh?

Kyle seemed to intently listen to Sarah's reason for coming. He seemed to be a little put off by what seemed to be a sarcastic response about the reenactments. But took his turn a few seconds after Sarah finished. "I'm here to learn about a bit more about medieval times. I read quite a few textbooks and fiction from that time, but football, homework, and all that just takes too much time" He explains with a nervous expression while putting his hand on his neck. Sarah watches on in the distance and roles her eyes, but makes no noise while she does this.

Sally meanwhile. Stares at them both for a few moments, before everyone notices the people of the club have turned to look for her. Now was her point to talk but the brown haired bookworm seemed surprised. She let out a quick yawn, but had no other sign of being tired. In the moment if Tamera looked quickly it seemed Sally's eyes had a second where they were glowing almost completely red! With a blank, black iris in the center! What was that? Did anyone else see that. After the yawn and the second of that weird eye-effect she answers with a quick, flippant comment, "I'm, uh really into the reenactment stuff. I wanna practice with some wooden swords!"

Except for that second of Sally's weird eyes everything else seemed normal. Was anything weird going on?

——-Hallway, Art Wing——-

"Uh...no nothing like that just...." He paused for a second, leaning down to take something out of his backpack. In a few seconds, he opened his backpack to pull out a Broach. A very intricate, detailed, broach. With a golden body, and a bright blue gemstone in the middle. On and off every second or so it was glowing with a different color every cycle. After a little bit of time to observe Daiki explained what this was about.

"So I uh.... found this pretty close to my house." He said stammering a little as if he had to think of where he found such a memorable object. "But...but I've noticed it only glows like this when it is near you. Does...does it belong to you? I don't think I should have it, whatever it is it might have cursed me." The young man let out a soft chuckle, but the nervousness and trembling made it seem like he wasn't joking about that last part. He looks up as he holds it out, clearly waiting and hoping for Rina to accept it, or perhaps to take it off his hands?

What...what is your last name by the way? We are going to need it for admin purposes, even if you just decide to visit for today. Eireen looked over and whispered to her friend 'Miranda'', "So Madame president, you think we've got a permanent member here?

Sarah just nodded after Tamera acknowledged her point. She thought that would be point one of any potential club. Maybe there was a report in there? How prepared really, are students to run their own clubs?. Either way, it sounded good, well good enough for now.

Kyle noticed Tamera's question and answered with this, "Well, I'd be up for learning about most anything. But I'm most interested in the Byzantine empire!" That last part was exclaimed with enthusiasm.

Sally seemed more focused after her weird eye change, but didn't seem like she particuarrly cared about the other club members. "Alright, so when do we get started?"

Shocked, Rina takes a step back. However, she finds herself staring at the mysterious broach, drawn to the intricate patterns and glowing gem. Wide-eyed, she listens to Daiki's explanation.

"Whoa... I... I've never seen this before, but... it doesn't seem like something normal..."

When Daiki holds out the broach, she takes it with both hands, holding it softly as one would something fragile and valuable. She cautiously puts the broach in her sweater pocket, then looks back at the young man, speaking softly.

"We need to find out more about this. Wherever this came from, it's special. I... just feel it. It's special. Do... do you know anyone that could help? That would know about artifacts, or something?"

"Hmmm...I think your right..." Eireen stepped back for a second with a small smirk forming on her face. She stayed just close enough so that a whisper could be heard by fellow myth nerd Miranda did. "I just hope we get her. I don't wanna have to go through the passing out flyers in the hall again."

After Ara told Maia it was Aries she lighted up a little bit tried to cool it a bit when she saw how nervous their potential new member looked when talking about her name. Oh, gotcha. Well, we should at least get one more intro out of the way before we start the meeting." Maia turns around and faces Miranda.

"This is our president! Miranda Mc Connaigh! A pretty awesome, tough person, and knows so much about mythology."

The three new people and Tatayan felt a renewed sense of fun when they observed Ms. Junkerman's huge enthusiasm for these reenactments. This was going to be fun! Sounds cool! So what do we do first?'' The athlete asked.
