Looking at the other "Hollywood..." pages, they weren't classified as Useful Notes.
Perhaps we should convert this to an actual trope, and/or write up an actual UN for Accounting.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportThe other "Hollywood.." pages aren't relevant. Those are about "Hollywood gets something wrong/simplifies it for the sake of the story". This is about actual real world accounting practices in the American movie industry.
At most the description needs to be improved to better cover what the various deceptions they use actually are.
EDIT : This also happens to be the pre-existing real world term for it.

Hmm. I was going to say "yeah, this probably doesn't belong on Hollywood Style, despite the name", but then I thought to check, and that index claims to literally just be a list of pages following the "Hollywood X" naming scheme.
Didn't we decide that we shouldn't be making that sort of index?

Trouble Cube continues to be a general-purpose forum for those who desire such a thing.Yes, that sort of index is generally a bad thing. See Search-Generated Index
This is already a Useful Note, so a TRS thread like this is unnecessary.
I think the thread title is perhaps reversed from what it should be (and we don't have the reverse option on our list, since it's so rare). The question is: should we make this useful note into a trope?
I think it should stay a useful note, but we may be missing a more general trope about Befuddling Accounting. (Or we may have that and I've simply overlooked it.) One of the things that Forensic Accounting is designed to counter.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Well, the OP said it was written like a trope, which it is, so if it stays a Useful Note it would need to be rewritten. But since it affects media, there's a case to be made for it to be a Trivia entry, although it's even more tangential than most Trivia entries since it affects the people involved more than the work itself. Since it is trying to describe a real-world phenomenon and the problem of looking like a snowclone of the Hollywood Style index is bad enough as it is, I wouldn't make it a straight-up trope.
Worth noting that although the in-universe example section has more folders, the number of folders in the real-life example section has more to do with what media this is even possible in, and they are pretty long in their own right, so it wouldn't surprise me if the real-life section was substantially longer. If we keep it a useful note or make it trivia, though, I would reverse the order of the two sections, if we don't remove the in-universe section entirely if we keep it a useful note.
Make this into a Trivia item and list the Real Life examples first. Does anyone else agree on that?

This is in the Useful Notes namespace, but it's written like a trope.
So which is it? Or should it be split into both? (Is that even a thing?)
