[up]Yeah, it was an interesting spin on that concept that shed a new light on Snake and Dragon's characters. I'd say this was needed to make the previous episode better as well.

This also makes it 2 more episodes since anyone's died in the present, so I expect heads to roll next week.

Mhm. Animation still took a hit, but this was a much more interesting flashback. And it ties with what Hylarn was saying about this show being an attack of the idea of heroism- here Robin Hood is a self-serving hedonist.

I'm also looking forward to seeing inside Rabbit's head next week.

That was much better. Still apparent that they stretched out a single chapter for twice the usual length, but it covered interesting stuff this time

Pretty vicious take on Robin Hood, though I'm not sure it's the most relevant one (IRL criminals engage in charity because living in a an area that hates you tends to decreases your lifespan)

Such a dull deconstruction (not really) though. Robin Hood as self serving asshole has been done before and this was the bros just being nasty for its own sake.

I don't think it was just about the twins, though. Their antics were pretty obviously reflective of the Juni Taisen as a whole. The bored, hedonistic, and obscenely powerful spectators were confronted with themselves this episode, and they didn't much like it.

What's precedent ever done for us?

So majority of today's episode was in CGI. I'm really curious to hear what the production story is behind this series.

So the Raving Rabbid is dead. I don't buy it.

Mhm. I'd describe Rabbit's death as 'suspiciously anticlimactic'. Mostly it's weird to me that we got a Tiger flashback this week instead of anything from Rabbit's perspective.

wild mass guessThe Bunnyboy swordsman we've been seeing was is another zombie. The real Rabbit is stayed hidden the entire time.wild mass guess

considering he makes himself bleed just before getting chopped up he has a trick stashed away.

Tiger's backstory in Rabbit's episode? I mean, it was good backstory, but I was hoping for a look into Rabbit's head

Does raise the question of why the hell anyone thought the world's #2 killing machine was weak, though

[up]Who said she was number 2.

Anyway the reason we got no info about Rabbit is pretty simple, there was no info to give. All the other characters get bios describing their pasts, hobbies and other things in the novel. Rabbit just gets a blank page with "Details Unknown" stamped on it. Nothing about him is known not even his real name.

So Rabbit might not get a flashback. I'd be fine with that, since it means the final episode can focus on the present.

Episode 10 is out, in case you lost track. Ox turns out to be a good guy, which I didn't see coming.

So Episode 10 is probably the actual best episode of this show, I guess because Tiger is the only character who had an actual arc in this show full of anti-climaxes. tongue

An actual Bittersweet Ending instead of a Shoot the Shaggy Dog? I guess you need to shake things up every now and then.

Betcha Ushii dies early in the next episode from a rabbit zombie's attack, probably while he's giving his new friend the Coup de Grâce.

Nisio has something of an obsession with the idea of "genius" doesn't he? I don't think I've ever seen a work of his that didn't focus on it at some point or another.

Episode 11 is out.

Rat ends up winning but taking out Ox, Monkey, and Rabbit with Sheep's bomb. Ox was fighting Franken Rabbit until Moneky jumped out of Rabbit's corpse and pinned Ox. Earlier, Ox sliced Rabbit's legs off, so all 3 were pinned down. This allowed Rat the chance to kill then using the bomb.

We also learn that Rat's power is basically Save Scumming. He's died almost a hundred times in the Taisen, but lucked out on the current "route" and ended up winning.

So I find myself really liking this episode, and frankly this entire anime even more.

Pretty decent episode. Rat's power is only slightly different from what I'd guessed

Am left wondering how they're going to fill out a full episode yet, though

I would('ve) like to see an episode detailing Rat's various deaths during the actual tournament. Especially that scenario where he managed to befriend Rabbit without becoming a reanimated corpse.
