Hmm, so things finally reached their conclusion. Joseph been put to sleep, Chise condition has been taken care of, and she finally let go of the past, accepted her new place in the world and moved on. Oh and she and Elias actually got married, I'm rather impressed.
What a good series this was, it had a tone that was uniquely it's own, and the world just sucked me in. I wouldn't mind seeing more of Chise adventures, even if this feels like the perfect way to end.
Yeah, that might be what bugged me actually… Elias trying to dodge the issue of his murder attempt with "well but, err, you did stuff without asking too!" is iffy at best. I can buy that they "talked it out" and he won't do it anymore, but it felt really glossed over.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.I don't like that the only consequence of their talk we see is her having to check in with him before she leaves. Yeah that is prolly a decent idea in general given her situation but he straight up attempted to murder a kid. And not just a random one, specifically Stella cuz he is jealous of their relationship. Nothing about this is okay, but the show treats it as not even equal to how Chise acts, but better since we are shown zero consequences for Elias.
I don't see what's wrong with Ashen Eye being just a dick. There's plenty of malevolent fairies like that. Like seriously there's ones whose sole existence is killing humans cause they can. Even amongst the old pagan Gods there are some who are evil for the sake of evil.
And it was kind of obvious he's the one who used Stella for their scheme too as he taunts Chise about it. Joseph wouldn't know about her at all.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.Yeah, Ashen Eye is pretty obviously just one of the dickish neighbours. A good reminder that not everyone in the magic world has Chise's, or humanity's, best interests in mind.
It's been fun.I mean, I don't mind him as a character at all, but he did kinda pop right outta nowhere in the final episode.
Like, raises a good point about Stella, but I would've appreciated some attention being drawn to that in the show itself.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Agreed. Plus "He's just a dick" is a really weak character motivation. It doesn't make him interesting.
Anyway, this was a really unsatisfying finale. I hope the show gets renewed when there's more chapters out. Coz right now it's really unfulfilling as far as endings go.
So many superfluous characters. Like, what was the point of the two college bozos? What did these guys achieve? Why cut to one having an existential crisis that goes nowhere.

The next arc of the manga is apparently centered around the college so there's your explanation. They're probably gonna be more relevant there.
Well yes, but if we don't get the next arc in the anime, that still makes them a waste of material, in the anime :-P
Setting up for another arc is the way a continuous story works, and they likely expect a season 2 eventually.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.…If the anime's already caught up with the manga though, that means we won't have a season 2 until 2020 or something.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo. Finally caught up o the ending. While I thought the final confrontation with Cartaphilus was too confusing for me and I agree that Elias and Ruth's murder attempt was glossed over too quickly I stil found myself smiling at the ending scene. Overall I really liked this series.
A second Ancient Magus's Bride anime is coming!
What the hell, everything's coming back with a second season now!
Stella ~Part 3 (Atelier Shallie)Right? First Devil is a Part-Timer, now this?
What's next? A second season of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt?
I jest (mostly), but if P&SwG does get a second season, I might lose myself.

The anime will adapt the "Gakuin" (College) arc of the manga, which launched in May 2018. The cast and staff of the first television anime returned to animate a promotional video for the arc in March 2019.
I may try to read the manga in the meantime.
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellS2E2: Like going to a real class. Kind of boring.
Still getting the same feeling from watching season one. I have no complaints about the production values; everything looks great and there's a lot of attention to the finer details, such as that one kid's hair still being visibly burnt in subsequent scenes. But the content of the story itself is somewhat plodding. Partly because the rules for magic are stuff we've seen before in a lot of other works, but also because they didn't make the magic interesting to look at.
S2E3: We meet Rahab, who is a cool lady who helped Elias develop a semblance of humanity. And inadvertently planted the idea of getting a bride in his head.
I've been ambivalent about the story so far but the designs of the creatures has been incredible. The cyclops guard dogs with slithering tongues were so cool looking. Production values in general have been sky high.
Episode 5: Another good worldbuilding episode. I am wondering if there will be some issue when the Saint George twins find out about Chise's dragon arm. I was already a bit suspicious that one of them mentioned the Webster Incident when she did. Zoe seems nice now that we have got to see a bit about his background. I haven't seen many, if any, half-gorgons in media before.

Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellEpisode 6: Cruel granny is cruel.
I’m still lukewarm to this magic school thing but damn if the shots aren’t gorgeous.
That's Episode 7 actuallyIt's not like the school setting is getting much focus. It is mostly an excuse to get Chise to interact with people her own age (at the moment anyway, things will probably change later).
Knowledge is Power, Guard it WellOh, drats, I got that wrong. I think I missed episode 6.
And that's the thing, the school setting mostly seems pointless and really only there to have Chise interact with other magical younglings. Meh.
Episode 10: That werewolf got torn to pieces. Daaamn.
This was exactly what I didn't want for an ending. Trying to just put a neat little bow on everything and shove the issues under the rug for a 'happy' ending. Like the fact Elise tried to murder Stella. But that is totally okay cuz Chise does stuff without asking?
