It's "shelved," which is industry speak for cancelled but leaves open the possibility of it being picked up later. Honestly, from what I'm reading the implication seems to be that it just wasn't as good as it needed to be.
Right.
You can't drop the ball, especially when you're on a roll like Disney is.
From my experience, "shelved" essentially means "cancelled but we're trying to downplay it and sound optimistic".
I wonder what the next film will be after WiR2 and Frozen 2. I know there's apparently a car film and a Rumpelstiltskin film coming out, but I haven't heard anything from that since their announcements. I assume they were cancelled too.

So Gigantic is included in Disney's new five-year-plan for Thanksgiving 2020, so apparently it is not dead yet...yay?
Huh...I mean, it could be a typo or something, but I'm cautiously optimistic about it turning out not to be dead after all.
"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."..... hhhhuh. So I guess this time, "shelved" really does mean shelved! That's exciting news.

I hope it's still coming out since other than Gigantic, it's all live-action remakes, Star Wars and Marvel films, and sequels. Not that those are bad, but the Revival era might be up.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.
They seemed to have an idea from everything I've read. Maybe they got just stuck on the ending. Still, it's very rare for Disney to cancel such a highly published film. I wish it was just stuck in Development Hell and not cancelled...
