Hmmm, I typically don't send people into disadvantageous match-ups, so I guess I never factored that scenario in. Maybe it's just that WTD is weighted overly heavily, then? I know I've seen weapon neutral stuff still move along at a reasonable pace (by AI standards).

The aforementioned Fates green sibling allies also had no problem ninjaing half the forts on that Anna map while I was trying to fight their other siblings and farm KOs. It felt really weird to do almost zero work with the forts, yet end up controlling 2/3 the map by the end.

[up] They'll take forts at a decent pace at neutral. Advantage makes it really fast, Disadvantage makes it take an absurd amount of time. Sending a flier to an archer fort is probably a guaranteed death sentence, but I haven't tried it.

Health sure is versatile. It's possible to be both light-headed and dim-witted. At the same time, no less.

Speaking of archers and fliers, I remember trying out the Shadow Elimination level in "Together to the End" and being super-surprised when I got a game over when trying to get to the Sages. I remember wondering "I didn't even see an 'Allied Commander in peril!' message, what the hell just happened?" Then I remembered that the Allied Commander was a flying unit and there were enemy archers nearby...

During the second round, I made sure those archers were dead before going after the mages and sages.

I think there's a little bit of grace on the player side. I know I've sent Sakura out to kill fliers and she completely destroys them. But if I let Cordelia do as she pleases and she wanders into an Archer fort because she's feeling like being an idiot, I can usually get her to disengage quickly enough to prevent any problems. This protection may not apply to generics, as I do recall one incident where two Snipers slipped by to the Allied HQ while I was killing the other two with another character and the wyvern fort guard died instantly before I could swap characters, despite 3/4 of the team also being there to guard her.

Yeah, you do NOT let archer captains make any headway on a flying base captain/commander, because if so much as a single generic unit makes it there, she'll die before you even get the message warning you.

The Sol Katti Scroll map is dumb.

I hate being foot-locked for "beat 1,000 enemies in [x] time missions" because enemies tend to be really spread out, but being locked to bows on top of that makes it even worse. My Takumi is overleveled, decked out with an upgraded Fujin Yumi stuffed with attributes (including Swordbreaker for the Samurai and Dracoslayer for the Manaketes), and has a ton of skills like Astra, but I still can't get S rank because there's so much dead time from being forced to run around the map to fight things.

Also, shit won't die and the map keeps spawning those enemies that raise morale if you don't kill them ASAP.

What kind of History Mode maps do you think will be released when the Shadow Dragon DLC goes live? Any particular maps you want to see?

Being stuck with bows is probably worse than being foot-locked. If it was merely foot-locking, you could take someone like Lyn, Ryoma, Chrom or the twins, who have crazy dueling capabilities and good-to-excellent mook clearing.

Bows are great for cheesing officers from out of their aggro range and okay at way clear, but they're slow and clunky as hell, so in addition to wasting time wandering around between spawn points, the animations/charge times to mook clear or get a yellow gauge are just terrible.

I haven't tried any of those Timed missions that limit you to bow units yet, but when the time comes, I'll probably be telling myself this: "Just think of it like one of those challenges in those Atlus games. Remember that you managed to find and beat all the Fiends in Shin Megami Tensei IV, so this shouldn't be too...aw dammit, got to try again. Sigh..."

Just tried to S-rank "Noble Lady of Caelin" again to get the Sol Katti, but no dice. I take too long to get to Validar even after telling my units to bumrush the Sages, and then I end up taking way too long to defeat the final boss. Oh well, will try again after leveling up my units and maybe start gathering up weapon scrolls.

These upper-level maps pretty much require you to micro-manage like a paranoid corporate exec for S-rank. The AI is just too slow at killing otherwise. When I did it, I had to manually kill every officer by rapidly swapping who I was controlling. I'd use the dead space for other units by telling them to either go sandbag stuff (HQ or green Chrom) or cover the distance to the next objective while I'm busy murdering something.

I did beat it eventually, but Takumi became my highest level unit in the process, and I had to give him a very large collection of skills to do it.

Eventually, you just sort of phase out, give up on the captains (save Nergal, who's early enough and fragile enough to be doable) and focus on clearing out large mobs instead. Even then, it's tight.

I'm starting to go through the time distortions on History Maps now to get the weapon scrolls. Just got Chrom's Falchion scroll, but I still need some materials to fuse Boost Crests before I can use it.

I did manage to start unlocking True Power on some of the signature weapons: Exalted Falchion, Camilla's Axe, and Hinoka's Lance. I'm in the middle of unlocking True Power for the Yato.

I'm thinking of trying to get as many True Power weapons as I can before tackling the level that lets you unlock Celica. I heard that one is a bit of a marathon.

I don't think I had any True Power weapons when I got Celica. It's not like you need to S-Rank any maps to get her anyway.

[up]I know you don't need to S-Rank to get Celica; I'm just a tad worried because Celica's map seems like it's going to throw a lot of bosses at you, including that same surprise guest from the map that lets you unlock Lyn (which I still haven't S-Ranked yet).

It only has three bosses: two normal units (which are both the same guy, just powered up the second time) and Velezark again. Maybe Shadows too, but I can't remember.

The map wasn't particularly hard either way because the non-Velezark boss is a Swordy.

[up]I heard there were Shadows as well. That's why I've been trying to get lots of True Power; Shadows have been quite troublesome to me several times.

You really don't need True Power if you've got Brave weapons. In fact, if you've got 4-5-star Brave weapons (5-star has the exact same Mt), then the True Power weaponry is just more of a hassle than anything because of the grinding.

So, for the bow timed challenge, turns out that a strategy that makes it easier is... not attacking much. Basically, Takumi with Strong V unlocked runs around using it on crowds of enemies, which cause the Warrior gauge to charge really quickly (large enough crowds will fill an nearly an entire bar). Next, wait for any officers to do a strong attack/combo, which exposes their neutral gauge. They're really impatient jerks, so they'll usually do it faster than Takumi could charge up a shot. Dump a Warrior gauge and they'll pretty much die or almost die. For the latter, it's usually easy enough to clean them up with a couple Strong Vs while recharging gauge. Key weapon pick-ups are Warrior Gift, because there will be times where he hits a bit of a drought and those free 3 gauges are really nice for patching that up, and Dracoslayer, because that lets him either skip using Warrior gauges on the bulky Manaketes, or, if he can catch them in a Warrior attack, it'll insta-gib them, no questions asked.

[up]The grinding does let me work on building Supports, something else I'd kind of been neglecting. Speaking of which, I just managed to get the Pegasus riders to A+ with each other while working on getting True Power on Hinoka's Spear.

Finally unlocked Celica and even got S-Rank on that stage on my first try. Also managed to get S-Rank on the Lyn stage, so the Sol Katti's now mine. I thank Corrin having a True Power Yato for helping take down the final bosses of both stages fast enough to make the time limit.

Any word on the next DLC batch? It's been a little over a month since the Fates pack dropped.

Also, does anybody know exactly how Trample works? Is it just bonus damage against any non-mounted units or just the standard mooks (i.e. people who aren't captains)?

I'm also using the time to finish up History maps. I've finished all of "The Noble Lady of Caelin" (including the Anna map) and I recently got Oboro's Spear Opus.

Currently working through "Cold Reception" so I can try and get more Opuses.
