Closest thing I've listened to is some Salah Ragab's band, which really just big-band jazz from Egypt.
I'm curious about this, though. What albums would you recommend?

One album I recommend would be Mohammed El Bakkar's first album from 1957, Port Said. The songs are quite catchy.

Looked that one up and gave it a listen. Pretty catchy stuff.
I just remembered: I actually do have one album of traditional Turkish music—granted, one that came out in 2015. Bahrı Cıftellısı by Cüneyt Sepetçı & Orchestra Dolapdere. It's mostly instrumental, with lots of clarinet focus.
