Poor Image: Title Drop

The non-title text that provides the context isn't even legible. Surely we can do better than that.

Naturally, comics lend themselves the best to demonstrating this visually, and once again, Sonic comics come to mind... back in the day, they were especially prone to really contrived title drops. It was cringeworthy, but it fits this trope perfectly.

I also have Calvin And Hobbes examples in mind, (like "Weirdos From Another Planet" or "Revenge Of The Baby-Sat," to name just a couple of examples) but I'm not sure if they count when.initially uttered in a newspaper comic without being the title of anything note  until afterwards. (Though the latter example seems to at the very least be a reference to title-drops.)

Any of the Sonic ones work for me...kinda leaning toward the first one.

I'll go with the first.

I think I'd prefer one that wasn't also a Character Title.

[up] Especially since the definition of Title Drop specifically excludes works that are named after a character.

"...unless they are usually called by another name." Or is Sonic usually called by name and title, including the title font?

[up] Nope! He's usually addressed as "Sonic," not "Sonic the Hedgehog."

Of course, we could always use the Calvin And Hobbes examples even if the Sonic ones don't qualify.

The current could actually work with some alternative cropping. "Team Fortress" is an in-universe codename for the group but this is the first time it's ever been used in reference to them (the teams are referred to as Red/Blue).

Hmm... anyone have a 350-pixel-wide version of 8.2? It's already more legible than the current, but I'd like to see if at 350 pixels wide it's more legible than that. (Preferably if we got it to 350 pixels wide by finding a better scan of it instead of just resizing the current version.)

[up][up][up] Best version yet!

Is there any way to get it such that the whole speech balloon is in the image, though?

EDIT: Never mind, checked the JPG linked to:

That doesn't really seem like a title drop though

If a series is named after a central character, setting, group, etc., it does not count as a Title Drop, unless they are usually called by another name.
Thats why saying Overwatch in Overwatch is not a Title Drop nor is Sonic The Hedgehog a title trope.

What about one of these? The 'temp' in the title makes it obvious that its not going to stay that way, their normal name is Ala Alba. [1][2]

[up] There is nothing in that to indicate that it's a title drop.

Pair it with the cover of the books lile this one?

[up] That's a little better, but still not as good as having it in title-style-font within the speech balloon itself like in the Team Fortress example. I'm still not convinced that one doesn't count.

That's their in universe team name according to the little lore that has been released so it isn't an example of a Title Drop.

[up][up][up][up][up] As stated in that quote, a character/group name would count as a Title Drop if "they are usually called by another name". As far as I can recall, this is the first significant instance of this particular group being called "Team Fortress" in-universe. They're generally called "RED", "BLU", "mercs", "mercenaries", etc., and this first direct mention of "Team Fortress" is treated as a big awesome moment emphasized by the game's title font. Therefore, I think 16 could still work.
