After watching two episode I really like it. Yeah, it has some of the typical Isekai trappings, but come one the mechas are just so cool. I totally share the protagonist love for them. Also, am a sucker for stories about constructing stuff.
The battle with the behemoth was pretty dope. Especially the finisher.
My biggest issue is that it feels a bit rushed.
I like the mechs they show in the OP and our heroes might be piloting soon. I kinda feel sad that they rush the anime story to the battle of the forest and not show the Eru and his friends life at school in the manga like the Alters older half-brother who hates them.
I'm getting a couple of red flags that make me worry it's just going to devolve into another generic harem show at some point.
"Yup. That tasted purple."It's an isekai show, that is the end goal of the series.
At least this time the protagonist is dense because his true love is giant effing robots.
Yeah, episode 2 is still a bit rushed.
Episode 3: I love all the nerding about the robots, so this episode was a blast.
The best thing about that title is you could remove the apostrophe or the ampersand, and it would work. But as it is...
(To be clear, the thread title is not a typo.)

They finally get to the nerding out on mech design. Fun for all ages.
I just low how earnest... Ernesti is. May he one day acquire his harem of giant robots.

Yeah. Pacing sucks and the isekai could be dropped, but there's fantasy mecha. And I agree that Ernesti really isn't dense in the Infinite Stratos sense, he just isn't interested in any girl who isn't made of twenty tons of steel. (Also, he is at the age where a lot of kids haven't noticed girls/boys yet.)
I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.Episode 4: Marquis had no chance against Ernesti and his enthusiasm. This is not something that can be understood with common logic.
Also, some jerks are trying to start a war.
Because giant demonic beasts aren't enough of a pain in the neck.
There's also the fact that his one true love is giant robots.
And he knows that chicks dig giant robots.
Seriously, yes, he's probably not hit his puberty in this world yet, so he has no actual interest in girls just yet. That might change though soon enough.
Girls would only distract him from what's important - awesome, awesome mechas.
I'm hoping that they're just rushing the plot so that we get to the juicy conflict sooner. Giant robots are awesome but if there's no plot there's no show.
The solution to this. Addy (re)invents Mecha Musume.
You know, I definitely enjoy Knight's & Magic so far and it's living up what was expecting, even it's becoming very fast paced.
Last winter, I was first attracted to another light novel I only know as Xestmarg of Silversnow. I don't know if it's related as a spinoff (definitely not made by the same writer), but it has the same illustrator and characters who look very like Eru and Addy.
Episode out:
Man, those villains were terrible. Glad that most of them died.
Mecha action. It strikes me that the Gears are actually quite effective for fighting the knights.
Silver Phoenix order is a go.
I just read the Light Novel equivalent to that points and they make a point that the Silhouette Gears don't carry heavy enough armament to do major damage to a full sized Knight unless you can get into weak points like the joints. Chid and Addy got plenty of hits in but weren't able to get in a decisive blow until Chid accidentally did an Empire Strikes Back re-enactment. They were however much more effective against the Demon Beasts.
Which suggests that is Silhouette Gears are going to be deployed against Silhouette Knights, you need a higher ratio of Gears than Knights. (My brain keeps comparing them to Clan Elementals from Mech Warrior so I thinking of using a five to one ration as a starting point). But when dealing with the main job of dealing with Demon Beasts, attaching a bunch of Gear equipped infantry to the existing core of Knight Runners could be very effective.
Oh yeah, the gears are way weaker and more fragile, but they seem to have much higher mobility, so with some proper tactics it's not an hopeless battle. I can imagine support gear infantry to become a standard part of Knight detachments in the future.
It's certainly a field worth investing in. At the very least they'd be more useful for recon.
Another nice thing about the episode is Dietrich actually manning up for the job. He's staying true to his development. And now with the creation of the Order of the Silver Phoenix, I hope we get back to mecha design shenanigans next episode.
Yeah, Dietrich has nice character arc going on. I'm glad he turned out to be an alright fellow who just lost composure that one time.
Addie's seat in the mech she was given to pilot together with her brother somehow strongly reminds me of the bike that Eva/Molly used to control her racer in Oban: Star Racers
Hmm, I though that Stefania is older than Ernie and twins, but younger than Edgar and Helvi, so why is she graduating first? Unless I'm confused about character ages.
Man, that old guy is an sleazbag.
Lol, Ernesti family sure got surprised by his news.
Wow an eleven month timeskip? This story really is going full speed. And it's weird how they all look exactly the same, even though at their age a year makes a great difference.
A mecha centaur. Only Ernesti could come up with that.
Stefania is graduating from the Middle School division, Di, Edgar and Helvi are in the High School division which is only attended by those going on to specialist roles like Knight Runners and Knightsmiths.
Novel Spoiler: Eru, Chid, Addy and Batson all skip high school, partly so they can bring the Silver Phoenix Knights to full operational status faster and partly because since Eru has up-ended the entire design philosophy they're hands on experience puts them ahead of most of the instructors in the High School division, let alone the students.
Well, another isekai show, with a reincarnation where the hero remembers something of his past (he Mecha obsession and knack for programming) but otherwise seems to be the 6/9/12 year old he is through the first episode.
the Magic and Mecha combo in a fantasy world reminds me of Escaflowne
