So like I originally posted in Ask The Tropers, I think that pages like the Strategy Guide page and even the Walkthrough page should be turned into Useful Notes pages mostly because it would fit them much better.

After all, they aren't tropes per se, so I don't understand why the have normal pages since trope pages are supposed to have well tropes and not just information on stuff.

So that's why I think they should be switched to Useful Notes pages instead of what they are now.

We do thread titles differently here. The titles go by the format <issue selected via dropdown>: <page title>. The title field should just have the page title and nothing else, as it links automatically, and any extra words will prevent the target page from being tagged.

Also:

  • If there are two or more pages with this issue, leave the title field blank
  • Judging by the issue you presented, you should have chosen "Really a Useful Note" instead of the default.

I looked at one of the pages, and decided to open for discussion for the time being.

Okay then. I normally just edit pages and post in threads already created. This is the first time I've started a thread and ever used the Trope Repair Shop so I'm a bit new to this.

I don't believe these are Useful Notes type pages. I think they should be categorized as Genre pages; they are categories of nonfiction works that occur in print medium.

[up] It's not always print medium tho... especially nowadays.

Those pages are about the documents themselves. They're technically genres of (hopefully) non-fiction (they relate to fictional content, but they're about the practical application of it, similar to DIY manuals and self-help books). Genre is a type of trope.

While Walkthrough doesn't have examples (which isn't strictly necessary), Strategy Guide has plenty, with mostly relevant context.
