Well, both duelists started with crap hands, so it wouldn't be a stretch to say Naoki won through luck.
I figured it was a bad draw because he didn't have a better graveyard set-up, and 1000 LP per monster means a lot more when you only have 4000 LP to begin with. Honestly, a lot of decks would fair better in the anime just from the halved LP.

A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.Fair point on the graveyard setup.
As for 4000 LP, I've stopped trying to logic that, because there would be a ton of hyper-consistent 2-card OTKs for 4000 LP. A lot of existing cards would likely be banned.

Most of the heroes win through luck, or blatant supernatural cheating.
They just call it the heart of the cards or whatever bullshit they used to justify The Magic Poker Equation.
Shima's duel didn't bother with such things. Luck is luck.
One Strip! One Strip!Red-Eyes would be crazy in the anime. Use RE Fusion to summon the comet fusion, dump a RE for 1200, then play Inferno Blast for 3500. That's game.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash. The heart of the cards was actually dub-only, believe it or not. In the manga/subbed anime it was either willpower, friendship, fate, or luck depending on the circumstance, so they came up with the heart of the cards to explain why it kept happening. XD Yugi's grandpa's heart was also said to be in his deck in all three versions, and the one time Yami Yugi explicitly influenced his card draws was his very last duel with Yugi—it was a power boost he got from his lost memories and rather than knowing what the card would be he influenced fate with his own will to get the cards he needed (it was hinted Yugi could do likewise).
I see the heart of the cards as kind of a Necessary Weasel as otherwise duels would be over too fast, and the villains also need good draws to make a duel exciting. Plus you can't showcase Personality Powers without seeing duelist's signature cards, unless it's a big reveal. (And it's come through for me a lot of times in the video games! XD)

The Protomen enhanced my life.Reminder that Yugioh Duel Links exist, which, uses the speed duel foramt (3 monster zones, 3 S/T zones, 20 card minimum decks and 5 Extra deck Cards). The meta is stabilized by mainly using a mix of old an new cards instead of dropping everything in like most yugioh simulators, but can be just as brutal (many matches can be decided in the first 3 turns.
......And yes Red Eyes has been a top Deck in the format for quite some time.
I don't PVP in Duel Links so my duels aren't like that XD; recently everything was dominated by Alexis's Cyber Girls, though, since those cards were physically released in the Arc-V era with according Power Creep. They had to limit some ritual spell to 1 almost immediately because of it.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Episode 27. Not one but two duelists didn't start out with the best possible hand. What madness is this.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Usually only Joey got brick hands!
The Protomen enhanced my life.I just love how they used the BGM. Even the sound design was making fun of them.
Besides this Monster World reference◊ in 5Ds were any games besides Duel Monsters played or referenced from GX on?

The Protomen enhanced my life. There was at least one very non-standard game in a 5D's filler with a bunch of cards face-down on the table.
I stopped using Duel Links after I lost my save data. Not sitting through the tutorials and pointless grinding again, thanks.
I played it when it first came out, but soon I realized it was just Beatdown, the game, and gave up. Sounds like it's better now, but man was it boring.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash. If you have your ID number and/or Data Transfer you can get it back.
Beatdown decks were only viable in the first month or so. Now they're GX-era stuff with GX characters too. This person's done a history of the DL metagame! https://www.reddit.com/user/yintemp/posts/
My favorite thing about Duel Links is the character interactions/voice acting so I never really cared about the metagame too much aside from updating cards when new stuff came out XD

The Protomen enhanced my life.I don't, because I had no idea I could connect it to an account to start with. Without those, Konami will only help you if you have receipts for microtransactions, which... lol, paying for a free to play game.

Data Transfer is on the title screen now and there's tutorials on how to do it; you need a Konami ID to start with and you can update it regularly—I tend to back up my data whenever I unlock a new character from an event or something. I'm sorry for your lost data :( I'm on stage 59 in the DM world and 15 in the GX World with ALL the characters so farm and I've been playing since it came out. I'd be really sad if I lost all my progress! Of course, there's also guides on resetting your game to get an optimal starting deck XD
EDIT: Speaking of, the game is now out on Steam starting today and you can transfer data from phone to computer and vice versa!

The Protomen enhanced my life. Can we please keep this on Vrains and not Duel Links?
Latest ep:
Faust was one of the scientists directly involved in Yusaku's kidnapping (along with Baira and the main dude who's supposed to be dead). It seems as though AI was the one who leaked the data, but there's also this new person at the end of the ep. We'll see who did what soon enough.
One Strip! One Strip!I think the guy at the end is supposed to be Revolver. He has the same triangular mark on his hand we saw on Revolver's when he logged out of VRAINS after his second duel.
It was a very nice looking episode this week, but is that another recap I see next week?!
Looks like it.
Also, is this not implying Ignis is evil? Evil Versus Evil with Playmaker caught in the crossfire. :hmm
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! It's very strongly implying. However, with the current state of the Knights of Hanoi, things are looking a lot more like Evil vs The Atoner to me.
But where does Genome fall on that equation, because the guy seemed to be as much of a lunatic as the mooks.
Wake me up at your own risk.Genome was a very dedicated role player.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! You know, since only Revolver, maybe Spectre and Kogami are left, I wonder how will Yusaku react to the fact that two of the people behind the Hanoi Project are pretty much dead, and one of them by his hands, even if they regretted it and actually did something good as a last act.
Wake me up at your own risk.
And I just realized, for all that they treated the duel as a joke and Naoki as a bit of a twit, he still won, which is more than most of the nameless fodder can say.
I mean, we've been seeing random people get utterly stomped by no name knights, so when looking at it from that point of view, he's practically an ace.
One Strip! One Strip!
