Saw the music video to Sia's song. Bit spoilery in regards to Tempest but it was still a sweet song.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.On the previous page, Targetmaster Joe talked about the going up against Blade Runner 2049. Since I have seen some bronies complain about, here is my take on it.
They are going for Counterprogramming, "a studio's marketing strategy to distribute a film that appeals to audience demographics not targeted by another film or a non-film event" (thanks, Other Wiki). Fox tried this when it released the 4th Alvin and the Chipmunks movie the same weekend as The Force Awakens and it failed miserably because Star Wars has universal appeal, including kids. I think the strategy could work here because an R-rated sci-fi thriller is not really appealing for MLP's target demographic: little girls and their families. So I do think the film could be a modest hit despite it coming out the same time as what critics are calling "one of the greatest sequels of all time".

Yeah, I'm not surprised. One is a dark science fiction film that's the sequel to a classic that will likely be attended by geeks and older people. The other's a children's fantasy film about talking pastel horses who will likely be attended by kids, their parents....and geeks :P
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Isn't MLP: The Movie going up against Coco instead? Blade Runner won't affect its sales. They are geared at two polar opposite demographics.
I saw the movie's soundtrack at my library today. On the cover the characters' eyes look really off.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Coco is fairly far off. I slightly doubt the pony movie will be in theatres by the end of november when Coco is out.
As of now, MLP has the family audience to itself.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectWait, hold up. People are actually worried that the MLP movie and the Blade Runner movie are going to eat into each other's sales?!
Is there really that much of an overlap between the target audiences?! Or is this just bronies once again forgetting that they are not the target audience of MLP: FIM?

Disgusted, but not surprisedI don't know if anyone is actually worried. But you never know, some adult fans might want to see Blade Runner first.
I only care inasmuch as it would be fucking hilarious if MLP beat Blade Runner somehow.

What? Movies don't disappear from theaters that quickly. The MLP movie could easily still be airing in theaters when Coco comes out provided the movie doesn't do badly.
After about two months, it might still be in theaters, but even then, ticket sales will have dropped to fairly negligible levels already.
Average lifespan in theaters is four weeks.

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Hollywood only cares about the box office performance of a movie for the first week or so. Even if the movie was still out for 2.5 more months, everyone knows interest in it would wane by then. The market has become so saturated, that viewers can only stand to pay attention to 1 movie for a few days each.
Impressions are coming in from fans and minor reviewers that are already familiar with the show, and they're all very positive. We'll have to see what happens when major critics get their hands on this, though.
Comment on Lego Ninjago article that mentions positive critical reaction at the MLP world premiere
Spoiler-free MLP redditor reaction that's probably the hardest on it I've seen, but that's only relative to the others.

I say if the fandom demands more, they will get more.
"We be we baby!"This is probably against the rules for being a drive-by post since I'm not exactly interested in this franchise, but I wanted to say something positive after seeing a trailer for it before The LEGO Ninjago Movie.
Kudos MLP for sticking to tradition animation. This film looks gorgeous based on the trailer I saw, plus I believe it's been a few years since a traditionally animated movie has gotten a theatrical run.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?
Another point to My Little Pony for bringing back a much loved style of animation, that hasn't been seen in theaters in quite a while.
Believe it or not, from early screening impressions, the animation is actually much better in the actual movie. For whatever reason, the shading and coloring is apparently way off in the trailers and clips; I blame Lionsgate.
I can believe that. The way it looks in recent trailers looks better than in the first announcement trailer though, which was just bad.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThat gels with information we already had, wherein an animation error or conversion error or something f*cked up the colors and contrasts for the trailer.
My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.Yeah, maybe like the middle of the week at like...noon. I'd be too embarrassed otherwise XD
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.As a heads up, an HD copy of the movie is now online. Thankfully, Equestria Daily, Derpibooru, and even 4chan are clamping down hard on it, but it's still out there.
A similar thing happened with The Hitman's Bodyguard, also distributed by Lionsgate, so I'm blaming them.
Ah nerts.
In a truly miraculous sign, many in /mlp/ agreed that this movie was pretty good actually.
